Please show me where Sakurai states Ness is out, because I don't see it... all I see is Sakurai stating differences between Ness and Lucas' movesets as if he wants them as separate characters.
It's actually the first sentence. I guess you're illiterate because it's right there.

I been meaning to tell you, I had to go watch 4 episodes of Sentai material, including a crossover movie, thanks to you. I think the movie was Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai, I believe.
Anyways, I'm surprised that this thread is still up.

Let's Get One Thing Clear

Sakurai:

There’s a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now, and Lucas is very similar. They are from the same family of PK users.

Definition of "until now" according to http://www.thefreedictionary.com/until+now

Adv. 1. until now - used in negative statement to describe a situation that has existed up to this point or up to the present time

This thead = fail

the grim lizard = idiot, troll, noob

Yes, the actual words he says basically is a sentence that means "Ness is out," so essentially he said it.
 No. They don't. And No. He didn't. Have you taken a look at the November 14th update? The Handicap one? http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/various12.html

It clearly says: "So until now, I’ve always made sure to include handicaps in each game in the series."

So you assume that because he used "until now" that Ness is out?
So that means Handicap is out too right?

I'm pretty sure this has been said a bunch of times, but Ness is not out just because he said "until now." I mean, he could be out, but the words "until now" are no reason to think so.

Now, if you're talking about some other sentence, then COMPLETELY disregard this entire message. :chuckle:

Right here with you... in your heart.
And WTF? All Americans know who he is due to EarthBound? THE GAME FLOPPED. IT DIDN'T SELL. Get it through your skull, Americans know Ness thanks to Smash.
I don't think so. Earthbound did well enough to attract a very dedicated cult following in the English-speaking world, and those fans have been with the series since well before even the original smash bros came out. Perhaps most smash bros fans know Ness from smash bros, but I'd wager that most of the true Earthbound fans who play smash bros know Ness from his game.

The point that Ness is still the face of the Earthbound series to anyone in the English-speaking world who hasn't pirated or imported a Japanese game is a valid one.

Yes, the old Handicap is out. As shown in the update, there is a new handicap system, kinda like in the Lucas' moves update that says something old is out and then shows the new.

I'm actually really sad that Lucas (that was him, wasn't it?) is in. I mean, sure it might eventually mean a western release of Mother 3, but Ness in Smash Bros. 64 introduced me to EarthBound, and that was one thrilling game for me. I still regard it as one of my favorites. I don't think a sequel can live up to that, and the fact that Ness probably won't be in this last edition of Smash Bros. (unless he's a clone of Lucas...which would be even worse) is kind of depressing for me. Like Mother 2's just been erased.

Oh no, OOT Link is not in the game. OOT is my favourite game. **** Sakurai for ignoring my favourite game, I won't buy Brawl then.

It didn't do well enough. And I would know, I'm part of that cult following, and I bought SSB because of Ness. When you consider that the Mother series is in Smash due to its Japanese sells, it's no valid point to consider us, the little cult following, and to overlook that Mother 3 has sold the best of all the titles in Japan.

WTF? why are you back?

please go back to whatever thread you were flaming in before, this thread has enough insulting people already.

and we are talking about Ness.. Not luke groundwalker

:ness: for brawl!

:cool::cool:
I think I'll talk about whoever I want in this thread. In fact, why don't we continue talking about how much a stupid idiot you are, or how bad your arguments fail? That sounds like a good idea.

This thread isn't about me.. its about Ness.. stay on topic.. or please leave and return to making images of me in MS paint (like before... sadly)

On topic: The different perspectives on Ness' situation are which cause the confusion, but I don't think people should be insulted or flamed because someone views things differently from you.

People don't flame you because your views are different. People flame you because you have ridiculously ******** arguments, and rely on feelings and different interpretations of facts as a way to try and make yourself not look stupid. Unfortunately, like everything else, you fail at this, too.

Actually hoping Ness gets in does not need facts, because its all just hope and speculation, but the facts are throw in are logical to someone who is open minded and not so dense.

and those are your opinions, however ignorant they are.. they are still yours and while its immature the things you say I won't insult you for having an opinion... thats very juvenile

Up until now, Ness was a playable character in the Smash Bros Series.

Due to the inclusion of Lucas, we decided to to make Ness an assist trophy.

Ness makes an entrance

He concentrates.....

and unleashed PSI ROCKIN!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!

Just like Stafy, Ness can be knocked away.

We understand this may be a loss to Ness players of the past games but we added in Lucas so that he may surpass the hero of Mother 2.

And as many facts (Actual facts) that we give you still deny them, you say that we are the close minded ones and yet you refuse to acknowledge the facts (Key word there) that we present to you.

Funny how you talk of ignorance and immaturity when you are the one who practices them the most.
