Once again you don't use facts, you use ignorant opinions... although I don't have high expectations from someone who only post negative things (except when it comes to Claus)

Its sad that people can't see Ness' chances, because of a 3 often used words.

:ness: for brawl!

:cool::cool:
3 often used words? Well... looking at the whole picture, his chances are EXTREMELY low. Even then.

Well, Ness could still show up as an AT, there's a chance of that happening.

-Knight

I now see that you are just reaching for stuff to deconfirm Ness.

No, a fool for not realizing he was not going to be in the game since the Lucas update.
If Ness is not in brawl then I will admit that Up until now meant he was deconfirmed, but until then I still have hope, especially since up until now is so loosely used on the dojo.

Erm, lack of deconfirmation for playable....

The one we discussed a few pages back, remember that?

The one where I pointed out that the japanese update and the English one didn't line up, and since the Japanese is "from the horse's mouth" while the English is a translation, where conflicting, the Japanese update is the trustworthy one. You remember that?

The only thing this update does as far as hurting Ness's chances is introduce the possibility that the English translator jumped the gun.

Well DeuceBlade you just did a good job of describing yourself in this post.

"Up until now" did not Deconfirm: Handicap, Mario's tornado spin, or standard moves..
which is why people question it deconfirming Ness.. at first when I saw it.. I thought he was deconfirmed ( woah me.. jumping to conclusions? :o!) ... but then I realized it could be read differently.... then I also saw other times it was used.. which made me become a supporter.

*I will not feed the troll... I will not feed the troll*

*feeds*... please stay on topic.. and atleast try to post something that isn't completely ignorant.

That would be stupid of you...

No matter what actually happens in the game, up until now is still a faulty translation, and the update did not deconfirm Ness.

Either a later update will, or his lack of appearence in the final game will, assuming that he doesn't make it. If he does, this isn't an issue after all.

Don't abandon the one thing you were right on.

Errr, ok, in English it would deconfirm...

Problem is the English site conflicts with the Japanese site on this phrase, and the Japanese site is the direct word of Sakurai while the English is translated.

That's what makes it not a deconfirmation, "up until now" is still the english imperfect which would deconfirm.

It was conflicting? I really don't have the time to sort through past pages, but by now at least someone who knows the Japanese language would have known the true intent of his words and posted it here on smashboards or another forum.

I think it's almost insulting to think that someone whose "job" it is to translate made such a huge mistake. (Deconfirming a character is a big deal). If he was unsure of his translation I'm pretty sure he would have contacted Sakurai to make sure his information was true and the Dojo would have been changed.

This is interesting... American Mother rep could be Ness... and Japan Mother rep as Lucas.
well atleast I think this is what you were getting at...

Or here is an idea:

After Brawl comes out they could release Mother 3 in the US and then everyone could be happy because they will be too busy playing to complain about how Ness isn't playable in Brawl!

There was a rather large discussion about this, on both this thread and another, where somebody who did know Japanese pointed this out, and others (myself included) confirmed it after checking the Japanese version of Dojo.

I also pointed out that it is the best possible translation, but that doesn't make it right, some things are simply not possible to translate and maintain the full meaning of the original, in fact it's not just some, it's a lot of things.

The whole "best possible translation" bit is pretty much paraphrasing my Japanese proffessor (who I will again point out, is a native speaker and has a PhD in Linguistics) in reguards to that phrase.

So no, it wasn't really his error, it's the English language's error.

Release Mother 3 in the US, now everyone has a good idea about who both Lucas and Ness is.

How much do you want to bet that Mother 3 is going to brought to the US the same was Fire Emblem was?

Although this was a terrible attempt at sarcasm... it was a good point:p
And I'm close minded? Now it's blatantly obvious that you favor Ness because his game was released outside of Japan, well it wasn't released in Europe and it tanked in America so you may as well stop thinking that is actually in his favor and you only call my post a "terrible attempt at sarcasm" only to yet again, cover up for your stupidity.

Why would DeuceBlade care if Ness's game was released out of Japan, he didn't play it either way. ¬¬

And WTF? All Americans know who he is due to EarthBound? THE GAME FLOPPED. IT DIDN'T SELL. Get it through your skull, Americans know Ness thanks to Smash. If that is all Ness has going for him, Lucas can attain it too.

Your response became completely pointless by the fact that favoring a character at this point doesn't matter since Lucas is already in brawl...

I support Ness to be in brawl because he hasn't been confirmed/deconfirmed yet.

and just because a game doesn't sell well... doesn't mean it didn't exist at all.. and keep saying im stupid because you have nothing left to say.

its ok.. you just need an "idea".

Yes he has.
Stafy and WaLuigi were deconfirmed....

Ness.. was not.

big difference in deconfirmation.

Yeah. But if a game didn't sell, then that means it wasn't known. Which counters your other point
This actually doesn't matter... Ness was in the original Smash bros, so he is already known by Americans.. as opposed to Lucas (which doesn't matter since hes already in brawl)

Of course it matters, if they're trying to bring Mother 3 to America, Ness is completely on the way since Lucas won't be able to stand out and don't even begin to argue that.

No, it means Ness's fanbase in America is not due to his game, unless you're too stupid to figure that out.

and keep saying im stupid because you have nothing left to say.

he's in too deep to pe simply replaced now--that is too say he was in smash as a secret and he was a starter in melee

granted a lot of unexpected announcements had been made--a lot of people had expected samurai goroh as a pc but look at one of the first AT's

Sakurai officially deconfirmed him, and i don't know if he'll wait until after the japanese release americaon relrease or what, it not official until it comes straight from his mouth no wordplay

Please... be Civil, the less we extend his victim complex the better.

Yes he has.
Erm.....

*points to previous post*

That's the only thing that DeuceBlade is right on, don't let his victim complex be at all justified.

... okay, I don't know who teaches you English but who every he/she is, they need to tell you the meaning of the words, "until now."
Which doesn't matter, because the Japanese site says differently....

Sakurai officially deconfirmed him, and i don't know if he'll wait until after the japanese release americaon relrease or what, it not official until it comes straight from his mouth no wordplay
Why does nobody read beyond the post they're quoting?

Sakurai did not deconfirm him, the translator used wording that implied he did in the English translation (not his fault, see above for why).

Oh, the holy original 12!! Give me a break. If they want to take Ness out because his series has moved on they are more than entitled to.

Ness' Fanbase is due to Ness.. him being in smash and earthbound are reasons for his fanbase in America. Another one of your opinions to insult me, aren't you e-tough.

Maybe your english teacher should teach you how to read.. because in a previous post I stated that at first I thought until now meant he was deconfirmed, but until now was used loosely on the Dojo which made me question it.

When you try to be witty, atleast attempt it with prior knowledge.

who doesn't know that at this point --no offense finalark you don't seem to come off as pessimistic as the others, simply logical--there are two sides to logic
and one brain does not go into council, we all read about sakurai favoring lucas and wanted to replace ness with the blonde psych in melee, a character who's game didn't debut until 2006 another logical desicion he DIDN'T make

he had talks with his team, even though they are mostly brand new and while his opinions do influence the game a great deal, they are not the only ones

and calling people "stupid" for the sake of it is something i think only happens in cartoons and kindergarden

1. Lucas's fanbase in Japan > Ness's fanbase in America. AND...

Ness's fanbase in Japan >>>>>>>>>>Ness's fanbase in America. Ness was added to Smash because his game sold well in Japan. Japan now has Mother 3, which is THE BEST SELLING MOTHER game.

and...

2. I seriously don't understand what's with people and "Up Until Now". Sure, it didn't deconfirm handicap or standard combos, so it can't deconfirm Ness? Words change meaning depending on context. They don't have to stick to ONE specific usage of some words.

The point is, in the context it was used in all cases it should've been a deconfirmation.

But that's not really important, because the Japanese site disagrees with the English site, there is no deconfirmation in the Japanese site, only a statement of fact (that Ness appeared in the previous smash brothers games).

What can you expect from vesperview besides an insult?... actual logic that isn't based on a biased opinion.. ROFL

*facepalm*

Your ignorance grows stronger with every reply, I'm not even gonna start to argue that, you're such an idiot.
Off topic... biased opinion.. insulting me for using logic, good job.

The fact is.. up until now was used without deconfirming anything else... yet Ness gets deconfirmed from it... thats just jumping to conclusions..:cool::cool:
