Good luck with that, son. Obviously there isn't going to be an update saying "Ness is not in Brawl."

If you are STILL hanging onto the idea of Ness, I'd have to say you're a little obsessive. It's not like you're losing a parent or something. MOVE THE **** ON.

He says that Ness has been in the smash games up until now, so maybe he is saying one of two things:
1. Ness is still in, up until now, meaning present and still will be
or
2.Until now, couse he has been remplaced by Lucas, he just stopped appearing, you get me?, like until now, and it ended, he is not in anymore

Dont get me wrong, I find Ness possibilities very slim, and I dont care if he gets in or not now that Lucas attacks are the same as Ness's with like almost no difference (PK Frezze is just like PK Flash but whit freezing effects and maybe a little bit less deadly if it connects, PK Fire goes forward in the air instead of diagonally down, PSI Magnet only covers your front side instead of all your body). I actually like that his attacks are more PSI oriented, I prefer that, but Ill miss the bat and yo-yo a little though, but Ill get over it :p, of course, if Ness doesnt come back.

Lucas is a decedent and basically reincarnation of Ness...

We're not really loosing him, he just has a different hair color, not hat, and a different name

North America, Europe, and Australia, all of Asia minus Japan > Japan. If Sakurai opposes that, then he is obviously a f***ing retart. And all of you need to read some people's Japanese translations again...seriously. Again, unless Sakurai wants to stab a loyal cult following fanbase (bigger then the SMRPG fanbase, I might add, and much better united), that has been repeatidly called stupid by Reggie, then he is caring for a minority over the majority. All you people saying "Ness is removed, get over it." f*** you! Imagine one of your favorite characters removed, and then talk. And he isn't gone until I see a statement on the Dojo saying "Ness won't be playable in Brawl", and none of you have that. Ness has appeared in every smash un until this point-but there is no word on his deconfirmation or confirmation on the Dojo, by Nintendo, or by Sakurai, so STFU! I WINz! :p

Also, let's say that Pichu gets deconfirmed-don't do this s*** to Pichu users/mains, as they will be in pain if Pichu is cut (assuming it's cut; which seems ver likely IMO). So stop being arrogant jerks, and just shut your d*** mouths. For realz. Show some compassion before being total *****.

wouldn't that be sweet if tomorrow's update was ness? i mean it would be perfect. we haven't had an actual character update in two weeks on Friday. who agrees?

I was actually thinking of that, and if Sakurai did that I'd be a happy little boy. I'd probably wet my pants with joy...(or not). :laugh: Seriously, Lucas is cool-but he's no Ness. But if we had both, that'd be SWEET! Anyways...anyone else thing Lucas it to Ness what Luigi is to Mario=??? I think Lucas is pretty much a B moveset clone (assuming Ness is in the game), minus his nB, and diffrent effects (like Luigi), while his A moveset is COMPLETELY ORIGINAL! :)

If Ness returns, I'm going to go ahead and say this. I will use him as a secondary character or a main, definitely. And I've yet to say that about any other character, to be honest. :)

Just because you haven't played the Mother games, have no idea what Claus's involvement is in the story and you don't know how popular the Mother series is in Japan doesn't mean either Claus or the Mother series are minor.

Mario and Luigi = unique characters, brothers, crucial to their series, strong relationship and great in teams

Ness and Lucas = Lucas is unique but ness is blank, have no ties to each other, either one can do it alone, have never been in a team

sure they are exactly like mario and luigi -...-

Wouldn't he still be a major character in that case? I mean, doesn't Pokey only show up in Chapter 8?

Um, ya I have. I've played all three. Compare and contrast Ness and Claus' rolls, and there is no comparision. Ninten, Ness, and Lucas are the 3 most important characters. More important than any other MOTHER franchise characters by a good margin. No one is anywhere near their importance, definitely. MOTHER is a minor franchise.

Major (more then 10 million units sold): Metroid (13 million units), Kirby (30 million units), Donkey Kong (48 million units), Legend of Zelda (54 million units), Pokémon (153 million units), Mario (193 million units).

Also, Metal Gear (18 million units), and Sonic the Hedgehog (46 million units).

Minor (less than 10 million units sold): Star Fox, Fire Emblem, F-Zero, MOTHER/EarthBound, Wario Ware, Yoshi, Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, etc.

Point proven. :p

For all we know, Sakurai could do anything with Ness's B moveset and give it an entire makeover, like PK Flash being some type of Chargable B with shock effects, his PK Fire being the same, (Lucas' PK Fire EXPLODES. Ness's stays in place and keeps burning. I can see more range and such.) Up+B can be some teleport again, (Like from the games that Dr. Andonauts made, but again, each teleport has different properties, so it explodes on some area.) And keeping the Down+B would be fair, since having one same move wouldnt do anything, since alot characters have similar B moves.

You guys need to be open minded. Just because Lucas has most of Ness' moves, that does not deconfirm Ness at all. I could be wrong, but I have a big feeling Sakurai doesnt like removing veterans that were unique to themselves. Also, looking the same doesnt make sense at all. So what if they look the same? What do you call the Mario Bros? Think of Ness becoming somewhat Luigified. Also, I'd like to point out each "PK" animation from MOTHER2 and MOTHER3 were completely different, so you cant just throw away that idea.

Point is, just throw some idea in it. No point on throwing away a character just cause of the same moves.
What I believe is, Sakurai, could be fixing Ness' moveset in order for it to fit his PK style.

It's unfair to compare the Mother series to Mario and Metroid, 2 games of the Mother series didn't leave Japan, Mother 3 was number one in sales the week it came out, Claus is a major character in the game, was on Sakurai's poll and with Ness deconfirmed his chances are through the roof, so what's your point?

The fact that Lucas DOUBLE special stealed is what pisses me off.

Anyways, read my post above yours.

Ness is not confirmed.

He has about a 45% to 70% chance however.
