imo Spike wouldn't have fit anywhere in this episode. He could have at least made an appearance or something, but major parts wouldn't have worked for this one.

It's quite the sacrifice to leave Pinkie and Rarity to fend for themselves to get back to Ponyville somehow. Anyways Rarity already proved herself self sufficient in A Dog and Pony Show and you can never get rid of Pinkie Pie.

As Beros already pointed out, she is already Rarity's VA.
Spike does Garcia in Black Lagoon too, and Garcia kisses Roberta at the end of the third arc, which makes SpikeRarity hilarious.
This episode was great, and is without a doubt a landmark for the fanon, but there's just a little TOO much hype for Derpy right now. With reason I guess, but it feels like they're riding this hype train to justify the quality of the episode. It's okay I suppose.

Still a fantastic episode. Applejack is the greatest pony.

No even if Derpy wasn't in it, it would still be amazing. Derpy just makes it that much more.

Derpy had a great voice, and her being called Derpy was amazing, but Applejack really made the episode. Yeah, maybe Pinkie was a little funny in the episode, but it was Applejack's amazing performance as the straight mare that really made the episode so funny. Pinkie saying funny words wouldn't nearly have been as funny if Applejack wasn't there to react to them.

Thread title is fitting now more than ever.
IMO, episode was like 7/10, "nice".
Derpy's scene was awkward, that kind of scenes made for fans somehow feels too cheesy.
Also, I think they're overdoing it with the train to Canterlot (train toy incoming?).
Fluttershy should be an incredible athlete to be always pared with RD.
I'd loved it if AJ would've said the whole Pinkie Promise phrase with her accent.
Pinkie zoom scene was amazing.
That said, I have wonderful ideas for a Chimi-Cherry.

Um that train, I think it's already the "Pinkie Pie's Friendship Train" which claims to have separately sold cars to attach per mane 6 (which I doubt those have been revealed.) Lead Train in the show has been quite pink.
