Fatal, while I agree, it's a bit too late for it now.
I think it would help sell a lot of passes knowing theres 16 spots to get into instead of just 8. Deimos said he was finding out if it was subject to change and stuff. I don't think it would be too big of a change you know? Just a number.

"If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Championship Bracket, an initial Match must be played. If the Player who came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event. If the Player who came from the Losers Bracket wins the Match, a tiebreaking Match must be played. The winner of a tiebreaking Match will win the Event."

So Grand Finals at Dallas could potentially be a single match?

To be clear, I didn't say that the rules are subject to change.

The rules are already made, and will not change. I'm just finding out if those rules on the site are correct.

UPDATE: The SSBB Dallas 1v1 Open Bracket will have up to 256 Players in Dallas. The Championship Bracket will still only have 8 Players starting in it automatically. Then, 8 Players will qualify for the Championship Bracket from the Open Bracket for a total of 16 Players in the Championship Bracket.

As ESAM pointed out, a match is a best of X (3).

The bracket is a double elimination bracket, so if the player coming from the winners bracket wins, they win the competition, because essentially, the person they are playing (from losers bracket) would have already lost 1 match. However, if the player from the losers bracket wins the first match in the finals, that would be 1 loss for the player from the winners bracket, so another match would be necessary to break the tie.

Wishing Apex 2012 happened again.
I remember for Melee l think it was 06 not sure but there was a MLG NY, but if Brawl does happen to stay on the circuit for next year, will it be the same exact places again ? (like orlando colubus, Raliegh, DC, dallas) or will it be all different places again? (potentially MLG NY? or NJ?)

food for thought.

They need to have an MLG Nj. It's pretty sad that one of the best communties for Brawl can't even get a MLG stop here. Where's the love for NJ/NY at ?But Ohio and Rayleigh get MLG? ***** please.

You have to think of the other communities that are in MLG. I'm guessing they generally pick their locations based off of where they believe the most attendants for all games overall would be at.

The other games are what Tekken ? Halo ? WoW ? I mean seriously you'll find your best crowd in the NJ/NY scene. The event should be huge. If they lack in areas just extend the amount of brawl entrants. You'll prob get like 350+ if MLG was held in this region. But rayleigh ? seriously don't make me laugh .

Well, I suppose after 51 events these are the places that have brought in the most revenue. Although I am surprised there wasn't an event in NY

Yeah, they're not going to cater to a tournament that would only bring 1/4 of what Halo brings every event. Not to mention all the Halo spectators and stuff. Brawl barely even sells out. Apex didn't break 300 and that was during a good time of the year. Halo constantly brings in 1000+ and sells out within days, hours even. Brawl is basically a side tournament.

MLG has been to a lot of places, and why are we complaining? You never know who visits these threads. If we want Brawl in MLG next year, we need to leave a good taste to potential sponsers, not a sour taste. Be grateful, and no more complaining. If you have an issue, just PM JV.

Apex's attendance was definably hindered by MLG. People can only travel so much, and some preferred MLG over Apex if they couldn't afford both.

The situation would still be the same. People will likely prefer it just as much next year as this year.

Please leave this thread to questions about upcoming events only. Thanks

And btw, we have been to NJ for the past several years, but sometimes, it's nice to try out new places. We did have DC, which is around a 3-3.5 hour drive from NJ/NYC ;)

We try to mix it up from year to year, hence the Raleigh event. And Raleigh is actually a great location because of all the colleges around it. I'm sorry you may not have liked the location, but we can't cater to everybody.

I have a question about the upcoming MLG Championship in Dallas, November 2010.

I'm pretty new to this whole MLG thing. If I buy a Spectator Pass (for $25) or a Brawl pass (for $35), does that allow my entry into all of the events for the weekend? A friend seems convinced that you need to pay $60 in order to get into the event and I'm just curious if I am misreading the website. Thanks! :-)

Spectator passes are for if you're not entering any events.
You need to buy the specific games's passes to enter those games, and you do not need a spectator's pass.

If you'd like to enter the Smash Tournament, you only need to buy your $35 Brawl Pass. This will permit you to enter the Single's Tournament. If you wait to buy your pass at the door, it will be $50 instead of $35, if they aren't already sold out, and passes are going quickly.

If you want to enter doubles, sign-ups are at the event, sometime during Saturday. People who placed well in Singles will get priority in entering, as Doubles will only be a 64 team Bracket

Groovy. This may be placing my ignorance of the event on a platter for all to see; however, will this Smash pass allow me to act as a spectator for all the other events that are going on? I have a picture in my mind of this event as being the type of gathering where spectators watch the various tournaments.

So, assuming my vision of the event is correct, will my Smash pass allow me to hang around the event and watch all the other tournaments during the three days as well?

Thanks mucho!

Yeah. You get a Smash Pass, you're in the venue. You can watch Halo, Starcraft, Tekken, WoW, or just flirt with the Dr. Pepper girls to your heart's content. It'll be your responsibility to report when a match is called though.

Tell them the name you signed up with, when you get there.
They'll give you your wrist-band.
All done.

Any word yet on whether or not the championship bracket will be 16 man or 32 man?
Yea, I posted about this on the last page in this thread: The SSBB Dallas 1v1 Open Bracket will have up to 256 Players in Dallas. If you buy a SSBB 1v1 Player Pass, online (by November 1st at 11:59 PM EST), it will cost you 35$. If you wait to buy the pass at the door (which you should NOT do), it will cost you 50$. Registration for the 2v2 side event will take place at the event, and that is 10$ per player to enter.

If you buy a player pass to the SSBB 1v1 event, that will get you into the venue all weekend. All the events are held in a giant room, so yes, you can spectate any event you would like with that player pass.

First, make sure you go to www.mlgpro.com/teambuilder and enter your contact information. Then you will just come to the venue during check-in hours, and give your MLG Username that you used to purchase the pass with. You should bring a valid photo ID with you in case we ask for it, and if you are under 18, you will need to hand in your parental consent form, signed, when you check-in.

the people in winners in the amateur bracket go to R1 winners in the pro bracket to face seeds 5-8 (1-4 have first round byes).

The 4 people in losers bracket start in R1 losers of the pro bracket.

When is MLG sending the pro players an email about our free passes?
I hope early this week.

When I send out the emails, I will make a post here, and in the other thread.

The emails will be sent to the emails linked to your MLG accounts.

How are the 8 people that emerge from the open bracket going to be seeded into the pro bracket? I know that the 4 people in loser's in the open bracket start out in loser's in the pro bracket, and the 4 people in winner's are going to be fighting the people who are ranked 5th-8th, but how are you going to assign who will be fighting who?

Probably based on previous rank. So lets say the 15, 22, 9, and 37th seed make it in the pro bracket still in winners (I don't know who those players are, just picking random numbers.. 9 would be the 9th seed, 15 would be the 10th seed, 22 would be the 11th seed, 37th would be the 12th seed.
