Plus we're paying for his ticket here
That answers a lot. Not knocking your tournament or anything, I just thought it was odd that he would choose this particular tournament over an EC or WC one. Now I know. It's actually a very good idea

You guys should contact Alex Strife

and make this the official APEX2012 South Qualifier.

Game plan... Practice Falco every day for 2 hours until MSU, travel to as many tournaments as possible, then magically **** everyone. I think this is my new motive... Although I really have no chance of qualifying. What place qualifies you for APEX?

Good luck on that, it's pretty much my plan as well, save that I've been practicing more like 30 minutes a day rather than 2 hours.

My tech skill is getting noticeably better, but I still haven't been able to put it all together yet. I'm getting better at that too though. Hopefully by MSU I won't suck balls like I do now.

What if we wanna hurt YOU in your venue??? >:3
That's when I will reveal that while I actually don't look like much, I've had 6 months of hardcore MMA training and put an end to the roughhousing.

Whats the $2000 guaranteed pot specifically for? I looked on the first page but couldn't find it.

Also, where the hell is this state lol! Jk, not really, I'll check mapquest.

What about those of us with 12 years of Freestyle and Folkstyle National level wrestling, and 3 years of MMA, and 1 year of Boxing under our belt? If were doing the roughhousing, then who's going to stop "us"?

I have a question about the restroom. Will there be any type of faculties close by where I can easily access ? I have VERY loose bowel movements and sometimes need to rush to the bathroom

I'm not trolling either, I just really gotta go and can't hold it sometimes. Especially after Pizza or meatballs. Thanks for understanding

I actually thought they were confirmed already.

West Coast: Tourneyplay #
East Coast: KTAR 6?
South: Hobo 2#
MW: No Koast 3?

Winner of the tourney gets a $100 stipend to be used to help go to Apex 2012.

Where does the $100 come from? How were the regional qualifiers selected? Are there different regional qualifiers for both Melee and Brawl or will both games have regional qualifiers from the same tournament? The regional qualifiers should be big 3 day tournaments such as:

West: Genesis 2
East: Pound V
South: MSU
MW:
Japan: SRT
Europe: BEAST

I'm not 100% sure yet lol, but all I know is that I won't be paying anything out of my pocket for the stipend. Pretty sure Alex Strife will be providing the money.

When did Alex Strife announce the regional qualifiers? Also Keitaro, do you know the answer to my other questions in my previous post? I edit the post at 3:01 and you posted at 3:00 so you may have not seen my other questions that I edit it in.

Alex Strife called me telling me about the qualifiers last night but I don't know when they were officially announced. They also will be taking place close to Apex in the months of September, October, November, and December I believe.

There will be 4 tourney qualifiers for each game. So there will be 4 for Melee and 4 for Brawl and they'll all be seperate tournies for a total of 8 tournies.

I think the regional qualifiers were chosen by Alex by just asking people. If you or someone you know is interested in participating in this, let Alex know. Or I could also tell him but talking to him would be best.

Ah snap. I guess then I'd have to find a gun or something. Kinda boned then.

Of course he wasn't trolling... That was his 1st post on the SWF, and, of course, a necessary one. Surely he would not be a fake account trolling us about restrooms. nah... :awesome:

Oh I see. It makes sense that the Regional Tournament Qualifiers cannot be big 3-day international tournaments with both Brawl and Melee in it because there will probably be a big fight over which game gets the qualifier so Pound V, Genesis 2, MSU, etc. cannot be the possible candidates.

Yeah, Pound and Genesis are too early along with this one. Its also better imo for huge multi-day tournies to not be a stepping stone for another huge multi-day tourney.

Also I wanna speak to Pierce to see how he plans to make it out to this as I may wanna come too.

Hold up here.... First of all, you have now removed possibly the 2 biggest tournaments, and what qualifying tournament will not be a multi-day event? If there is a qualifying tournament, the numbers will be huge. Wouldn't a huge multi-day tournament be good preparation for an even bigger multi-day tournament? The logic in the above statement by Keitaro eludes me.

I'm pretty sure all the qualifers will not be multiday events. Just think about it.

If you were the owner of Genesis 2, would you want your tourney to be considered a qualifier for another tourney that you're possibly bigger than? I think not.

They are in direct competition with each other. That's why Alex already choose the qualifying tournies and why they are already 1 day tournies. Also Genesis 1 was bigger than Apex 2010 in both Melee and Brawl. Pound was bigger than Apex in Melee, but not in Brawl.

Maybe for this tourney it could help confirm attendance and get a good start, but for already established multiday tournies that rivial Apex, its simply not a good decision.

There are men's and women's restrooms in the venue, very close to the room we'll be using.

I disagree, I don't feel that major tournaments are in "direct competition" with each other. Cooperation between major TO's like this can be very mutually beneficial and can help to create an even more united feel in the smash community. We're all just bros wanting to give back to a community we love, after all :D

And again, I would be more than happy for MSU to be the Apex 2012 Southern Qualifier. Alex said he would make an announcement soon about it, so keep your fingers crossed!

Also I wanna speak to Pierce to see how he plans to make it out to this as I may wanna come too.
Please do! :D

Its only 18 hours away which is surely do-able for the East Coast. I'll be sure to mention this tourney in the tristate and maybe we can get a couple cars over here. We'll see :D
