Looks good for an AT. Ugh, I think he's got more polygons than even Yoshi.

I think Skull Kid and Dark Samus look good as well, but they are sorely missing details and have blurry textures to be roster material.

I do question some fighters, though. Like Yoshi and Rubber Suit Samus. As long as the animation holds up, it's gorgeous to view at 1080p/60fps. Rosalina's a goddess.

Sakurai said he didn't reveal all of the assist trophies. There probably aren't too many left. Isaac is probably still an unlockable one... Thats probably why he wasn't shown.

Looks at today's pic.

DILLON!?

Seriously, he was one of my top picks for a newcomer. Well, better an assist trophy than not appearing, huh?

C'mon Sakurai! Dillon deserves better than that! Man this sucks...
It's weird seeing an assist trophy with more detail than one of the fighters.
Seeing one of Nintendo's newest IPs as an assist pretty much dashes my hopes for alot of characters.

Hahaha, I quote that line all the time and nobody knows what I'm talking about. He's cool and could be playable in due time but I think it was way too early for him to have a shot at playable this time around. Good to see him getting attention though, for it could potentially lead him to more success in the future.

Well, you can't really expect a character like Dillon to have much of a chance. He may be a Nintendo character, but his games are neither popular, nor well-Selling. Of course, characters aren't chosen for sales and whatnot, but he is also very new, and has yet to make a name for himself.

He looks cool, and his model is fantastic, but I'd say even Mallo has a better chance. Though I am sure he will be a Assist as well. ^^

eShop character term now destroyed, a character who could have had a very unique playstyle is an AT.
Let this be a fair warning to Chibi Robo supporters.

I dont´t like too much Dillon´s games, so I am cool with that! The number for AT is massive in this game!

Even if we don't get a confirmation this month, I'm okay with it. Between Dresden Files 15 on May 27th and Mario Kart 8 on May 30th.. With E3 shortly after... I'm a happy person.

Now I just gotta get through to the end of May...

As bummed as I am about Dillon not being playable, I am honestly pretty happy he got in as an AT. He could have easily been relegated to collectible trophy status (or ignored completely), so having him lifted to the point of "Smash Guest Star" status where he can actually participate in battles is pretty exciting.

Man, does he look cool standing there. One of the best Nintendo character designs of all time.

Y'all expected this guy to be playable? Jesus...

Dillon has yet to make a name for himself and Sakurai obviously doesn't see any moveset potential in this guy. This is probably for the best.

I actually never heard of Dillion prior to Smash development when I saw people talking about him here. Still this was probably the best way to go with him and a make a lesser known character visible even as an assist isn't a bad thing.

Not necessarily. I've always considered Mallo more likely than Dillon. The Pushmo games have had more popularity and exposure.

That said I still think Mallo will be an assist or appear in the background of a Pushmo stage. My point being that Dillon's disconfirmation says nothing about Mallo's status.

I think it's fair to say others like Tempo are dead in the water now though.

I agree that AT is a good choice for Dillon. I knew of his game thanks to puzzle swap, but I knew very little about it or him as a character. Moreover, as this thread has made clear, other users hadn't even really heard of him at all, so he lacks the star power of newcomers from major series but doesn't have enough legacy to be a retro character.

That said, his model looks pretty awesome, so maybe he'll get more games before the next Smash and be able to make it in then.

not that I expected Dillon as a character but move sets aren't a good reason to exclude a character. Anyone can have an original move set. Heck, Luma has an entire move set lol.

Outside of his claw attacks, Dillon does take a page from Sonic's handbook with that rolling attack.

Sweet, I didn't know you personally knew Sakurai! What else did he tell you?

(I think it's not so much move set potential with Dillon as that he is from a niche franchise. Looks great though, perfect choice for an AT.)

Considering it's position is now in eShop and not in physical copy, I doubt Sakurai will choose him as playable.
He's had 3 full retail games, and ONE Eshop game. I can understand you not being familiar with the series, but don't assert things you know nothing about lol

Trust me, I know what Chibi Robo's position is, being neglected to only a smaller position such as the eShop after having two DS games does leave some concern.

Have you played any of his games...at all? The GameCube title, and the two DS titles, are waaaaay deeper than the title that ended up on the E-shop. The game is basically a collection of mini-games with a photo taking gimmick added in. It's not in the same vein as the other games, and is an E-shop title because of it. It has nothing to do with the series being scaled back lol.

No, but I can research, do you have a source at the very least?

Yes, my personal experience seeing that I own all of the titles with the exception of the Japanese only release. Or you could just y'know, watch the games in action to see what I mean. To someone that's actually experienced the games, the difference is clear as day. If you ever get the chance, try out the GameCube entry, or even the remake it received on the wii lol.

Dillon is AT.

Can't say I'm too surprised to see this, but it's nice to see Dillon receive this recognition. He look really good for one.

The part about "we didn't reveal all of the assist trophy" should have been obvious, but still interesting nonetheless. It'll be interesting to see what happens to Isaac and Tingle (the only two left with any shot of being playable) should they continue to survive ATs disconfirmations (and in Isaac's case, receive unlockable Assist Trophy).
I'd argue that there's only five left that "need" to be confirmed before launch (Wario, Metaknight, Lucas, Ike, and Ice Climbers) or its likely that they're cut while everyone else can be unlockable. Speaking of characters, I miss characters being revealed in the PoDs. It was fun when people showed up randomly.
I disagree. Ike, Meta-Knight and Lucas could work well as unlockable materials for the next game. Remember, this game is showing off Lucario and Toon Link to be probably starters and most people never though of them as starters, so it's reasonable to think that returning veterans are having their status change.

Dillon looks really cool and I'm happy to see that eShop characters will be making an appearance in these new games too.

So hopeful Mallo fan is hopeful that Mallo can have nice things too. Maybe not a playable appearance but at least seeing him as an Assist Trophy or a Pushmo/Pullblox stage for the 3DS version would be great. :3

Also yeah, both Mallo and Dillon where really the only eShop characters who really had the upper hand in terms of potential playable appearance in my opinion, so no, Dillon's appearance as an Assist Trophy doesn't mean that Mallo has been shot down too, even though I think it will probably be a matter of time until he gets disconfirmed too.... :/

As for other characters such as Tempo and Hana Samurai, I'm not sure about them but I hope they are acknowledged enough to become Assist Trophies too. Or at the very least a trophy.

Considering Sakurai has said he wants to add as many assist trophies as possible (or something like that) I don't see why Tempo, Hana Samurai or a Formee from Freakyforms can't appear as assist trophies too. There are plenty of eShop IPs perfect for assist trophy status.

Interesting, Huh? Makes you wonder... Why?
Cuz obviously Sakurai loves Dillon more than Waluigi and Lyn. Just not enough to make him playable hahaha.

Ya know who is the best looking assist trophy though?

The beauty of HD graphics right here

I think if any veteran characters should be revealed before E3, it'd be Ice Climbers and Wario. Everyone else can be a secret or a surprise to see if they still made it.
