If Ridley isn't playable, Sakurai should just reveal that and let it be over with. Dragging out a character disconfirmation is the opposite of hype-building. It's hype-deflating for anyone who was eagerly anticipating.

To be honest, now is the perfect time to reveal Ridley (or anyone else highly wanted) as non-playable. People will have some time to get over it, he can reveal another character or two in May to soften the blow, and then E3 will drop the hype-bomb with nothing to drag it down.

People say that April was nothing but filler pics but, to be fair, the Direct gave us about 5 months worth of PoD info in less than an hour

We also got those press releases. In fact, we got a total of 619 screenshots from the three press kit sets, plus the 50 screenshots on the five new character pages.

But I do think it would've been better to save some of those pictures, namely the ones that revealed info that wasn't in the Direct, to show for PotD. It keeps the hype up to keep the information flowing, rather than dumping it and then stopping.

Ideally sure, but it's not like the momentum would or has slowed down that much. We're getting new content revealed again, and those few weeks most people were still satiated by the info of the Direct. The hype wouldn't drop that much this time of year anyway, what with us getting close to E3, not to mention the 3DS release.

I mean we went through all of March without much of anything... but the hype didn't falter that much.

I'd say not to expect any new characters till E3 as well. But who knows.

yes. 2 month apart, its been like this since Rosalina's announcement.

however, a veteran is to be expected imo.(but for f*** sake let it not be wario.- its basically seen as Mario by the general public and he just should be a secret unlockable veteran imo.)

As far as Mega Man items I'd like to see a Beat item. It would work like Kirby's Dragoon in that you'd have to collect 4 letters. Collecting all 4 will give you Beat which would save you from falling off screen once.

For a Sonic item I thought a standard shield would okay but honestly I think it Eggman's eggmobile (or Tails Tornado) from Sonic Adventure 2 would be so much better. Think the robot ride armor from Mega Man X. Clunky armor w/ a lot of firepower, but slow. After so many hits the player has to exit before it explodes in a classic Sonic 3 style. We've never had an item like this in a smash bros game. I don't know, seemed cool in my head.

Lets face the fact that since Metaknight wasn't announced last Friday we are definitely not getting another character until E3 just like how it was before the Direct.

I refuse to face that fact. Sakurai has not once followed a pattern with PotD's. Metaknight has nothing to do with anything, and it's not the first time Sakurai has ignored a western release. In fact, he's only acknowledged a western release date once.

I say we get a reveal in May.

I sort of agree with this. This week it'll have been exactly a month since the Direct, and I'm pretty sure either next week or the week after will beat the drought for reveals.

On character reveals, my money is on Lucas/Ness this Friday, just because that would be fun. Wario for MK8 feels just too obvious to me and we've missed many "obvious" dates before. And it's also too clise to E3 hehe. But we'll see!
