@ Nicole: Describe your Pound V experience.
it's been pretty good so far, i lost to a gay sonic but other than that i havent had any moments of rage. my pool is something that i can actually get out of (though i dont know if i will or not) and i beat s3ibr!k and es4m in MMs, which was pretty cool to do.

no parties yet though...something better happen tonight or imma be mad.

i'll edit this when the tourney's over too lol

Florida officially has a Peach problem.

Looking forward to the answers.

Was there a defining moment when you considered yourself a "good" player?
After Hot ****ings 2

@Both:When you think of the midwest-east, what person do you think of? Who would you put in our top 10? Which area of our region do you think has more character diversity?
I think of Shugo first when someone mentions the MW:E. I don't know enough about the players in the MW:E to make a top 10 list but top 3 would be:

1: Shugo
2: Lain
3: Judge

imo.

If you could have any player from Midwest-East become a Midwest-West regular, who would it be and why?
Lain because he would be cool to hang with.

Think about this for a second. use your imagination. You're walking through a forest. Everything is fine and dandy. All of a sudden BEAR UWAHHHHHH! Oh wait. What type of bear is it?

:awesome:

In the Peach vs Toonlink matchup, who do you think wins it and why?
TL wins because he forces peach to "not" float as much in the MU since he has the tools to knock her out of the air easily. TL outcamps peach.

@MJG: Not including yourself, which Toon Link do you think has the most potential to be a successful player?
At first, I didn't know how I was going to answer this but I feel like Shadow1PJ (AKA Shadow, Shadow1, PJ) has the most potential right now. I have played with him since brawl's release and I feel like he has a better understanding of what to do in certain situations. He knows his character pretty well but now he is doin work :)

@Both: Not including yourself or one another, which player do you think has the most potential to be a successful player in the midwest-west region?
Future when he doesn't get mad.

What's your favorite region to be in?
Southwest! I have been in every region actually but when it comes to smash, I have just been in the Midwest and the Southwest.

How many midwest-east tournaments have you two been to? How would you describe the events? Fun? Annoying? How do you feel about our TO's?
Zero!
It was ****ing amazing!@!!$#&#@!$!!
Fun
Yes. Just said that.
Nope
lol

Do you two feel like brawl's metagame is still in the making, or do you all feel like that it's pretty much done for? Why?
Yes. There are new things being discovered every month. Kprime's findings is a perfect example of this.

How much room do you think you have for improvement? Where can you improve in your game?
I feel like there is always something that I can improve on. I just got another SD card yesterday, so I will be able to play if I want to but it still won't be that often.

I want my technical game to be better. The only TL that has the best tech skill (unarguably) is Hyro.

@Nicole/ENSiS: Would you want to see a match between me and Trent?
No. Watching/fighting sonic is bad enough.

@ENSiS: What the **** does ENSiS mean?
Haha...Ensis means "Sword" in Latin but that is not why my name is Ensis. SOUP from Florida (Old old old school TL who quit after he moved to Washington) asked me to use this name before he quit and so I did...

When it comes to being a good player, how much have the character boards here and smashboards in general actually helped in terms of character and matchup knowledge? Do either of you just wing it and never really read/contribute to the boards?

My knowledge of my character comes from me playing with him since I unlocked him. I know TL in and out. The only person on smashboards that has really helped me (and I mean REALLY helped me) is Hyro. My MU experience came from wifi when I used to play on the Ladder.

I try to contribute to our boards but I am slowly losing motivation. I own several threads on our boards right now as well.

Auspher:
Was there a defining moment when you considered yourself a "good" player?

Yeah probably. I think it was a long time ago, probably a little over a year ago. I got 7th at an Iowa tournament that alot of good players (including Ally) attended. I wasn't very good against MK then but I was alot more patient and defensive. I lost to Affinity pretty early on but our matches were pretty close. Eventually I worked my way through the losers bracket to Lain. I lost the first game to his DDD but it was close. I beat his Marth on my CP. The last match against his DDD I was winning with about 30 or 50% on my last stock while he was at 130ish on his last one. Then he edgehogged me and I don't think I even knew that was something to watch out for at that point. But I think I would have beaten him without the edgehog. So I decided that I was pretty good after that tournament.

-Joey-

@Nicole: How would you rate me as a player?
Honestly I haven't seen you play in awhile, so I'm not sure. From what I remember you are a pretty quick learner and take advice well (by that I mean you can implement it into your game effectively). If you are concerned with improving, I would focus on playing with the best players in your region (the God Kais). They are probably an hour away from you (but maybe not) or so, but I think it would be worth the hassle.

When am I gonna see you again?
At the next big MW-E tournament, most likely.

Joke questions aside

@Both:When you think of the midwest-east, what person do you think of? Who would you put in our top 10? Which area of our region do you think has more character diversity?
I think of Shugo right away. I also think of YbM and Infern as they are the standout God Kais. Your top 10 is the MW-E crew that I posted earlier. Quite honestly I really am not sure who everyone plays in the east so I don't know which area has the most character diversity. I do know that MW-W has the most character diversity of any region ever.

If you could have any player from Midwest-East become a Midwest-West regular, who would it be and why?
Shugo or Krystedez so I could learn those MUs and so that we could have a really really good player in our region (who would improve everyone). Plus Shugo is a hellarious drunk.

Think about this for a second. use your imagination. You're walking through a forest. Everything is fine and dandy. All of a sudden BEAR UWAHHHHHH! Oh wait. What type of bear is it?
Bear Grylls from Man vs. Wild

In the Peach vs Toonlink matchup, who do you think wins it and why?
Toon link because he's a stupid campy projectile spammer. It's pretty do-able for Peach though, probably like 45:55. I'm not too good at the MU though.

@Nicole: Not including yourself, which Peach do you think has the most potential to be a successful player?
Illmatic really wants to improve and works at it, so probably him. He is already pretty successful though, I suppose.

@Both: Not including yourself or one another, which player do you think has the most potential to be a successful player in the midwest-west region?
Future, Holms, and Joker are all really smart players. Joker has the misfortune of living in a state that no longer plays brawl and he has no way to travel. The game hates Future and he gets annoyed by it a lot. Holms plays a flawed character. But yeah all of those guys have a ton of potential.

What's your favorite region to be in?
Whatever region is having a national. Actually Florida or Cali would probably be my favorite cause those places are warm and awesome.

How many midwest-east tournaments have you two been to? How would you describe the events? Fun? Annoying? How do you feel about our TO's?
Just a couple.
They're tournaments, and therefore, a good time.
Yes.
Only when I have to play Cook in loser's.
You guys need to be more assertive and make people play their matches. I could say that about almost every region's TOs though. Also more setups. Again, that could be said for just about every TO.

Do you two feel like brawl's metagame is still in the making, or do you all feel like that it's pretty much done for? Why?
Definitely still in the making. It seems like people are always discovering new stuff (whether it's actually used or not is a different story). We just recently found powershield cancelling. Plus matchups are always changing and characters are still in the process of reaching their potential. The metagame of Melee is STILL developing. I think Brawl will continue to develop until people stop playing it.

How much room do you think you have for improvement? Where can you improve in your game?
I still have quite a bit of room. I'm impatient and I'm bad at certain matchups. If nothing else I have alot of work to put in on Diddy, Wario, and Falco, not to mention some random mid/low tiers like Ike, Wolf, Fox, Yoshi, and Toon Link. I could definitely improve mentally as well, which would really help me in general. If something bad happens to me in a match I fall apart, so I need to fix that as well.

@Nicole/ENSiS: Would you want to see a match between me and Trent?
God no.

When it comes to being a good player, how much have the character boards here and smashboards in general actually helped in terms of character and matchup knowledge? Do either of you just wing it and never really read/contribute to the boards?
The character boards don't help me that much, mainly because Peaches get obsessed with dumb **** that is worthless such as bair-locking, uair stringing, and freepulling turnips. Ultimately stupid situational ATs will not improve one's placing and it's much better to be a smart opportunistic player. Some of the Peaches look down on me for having that opinion because they think that I can't do technical things, but the fact of the matter is that if I thought the techs were worth learning I would be doing them.
Many of Peach's matchups are outdated or Peaches have ridiculous ideas about matchup ratios.
I read the boards regularly and contribute a fair amount because I think it's important to develop Peach and I think I have mostly good posts and threads. There is no top Peach who is doing well in tournaments so you really have to pick and choose what you believe on the Peach boards. Also, our Social thread is generally pretty hellarious.

:avril:loved all of ensis post.

@cook yes

Nicole: (if im even allowed to ask questions) Why do you hate projectile spamming chars when your char does it to plus+bomb+sword.
You serious?
My character does not spam projectiles. Her turnips merely help her approach. Projectile spammers DO NOT approach. Falco - does he approach? **** no. He lasers and phantasms until you claw your way to him, then he uses one of his many defensive options such as jab, grab, or ftilt, does some follow ups, and goes right back to running. Toon link runs the entire match until he thinks he can running-charged Usmash kill you. Characters such as these are extremely different from Peach. They can get projectiles very quickly (Peach can't), their projectiles go very fast (Peach's don't), they depend on their projectiles to rack a significant amount of damage (Peach doesn't) and they can have multiple projectiles travelling towards you at the same time (Peach can't).

Bombs and swords happen like 1% of the time so they're just lucky - they're like TL's weird downsmash that can sometimes kill olimar or other bad recovery chars at like 20%. random chance that hardly ever happens.

Nicole, that Zeton quote is so awesome. Also you're right. Peach has never been able to spam projectiles.

@ Both: What would you consider your best matchup in the game?

How do you prepare for interesting/anticipated sets?

Do you use matches you feel you're going to win to try out new tactics?

How hard do you feel it is to finish a complete match and what advice would you give to players who struggle to finish and win a match? (I know I always struggle to finish matches I have in hand early)

What are your favorite genres of music? Favorite non-smash related game?

@nicole: okay, so I asked questions back when you were being interviewed on the peach boards, but now I've got some new questions

How did it feel to out place cook at pound? Do you ever get competative with your s.o. when it comes to smash?

I really respect you, because you aren't in the scene for publicity and other bull**** that most girls are in it for. What got you into smash? What's your top 5 favorite video games of all time? If you hadn't gotten into smash, what other game might you be playing if any?

My best MU is easily MK. Which is kinda problematic because it isn't an easy matchup and I am not 100% guaranteed (or even 70% guaranteed) to win against MKs because if I am put in a bad situation by him I can easily get killed by shuttle loop at really low percents. However, I decided to not give up on the MU and I think it's really paid off. I don't auto-lose to him like nearly every other Peach player does. Even MKs that place 3rd at nationals fall to me :awesome:

Usually interesting anticipated sets are ones where I play players who are better than I am. I usually tell myself that I probably won't beat them but that I should play my best and try to be relaxed so that I don't do dumb stuff. I actually tend to play better against really good, known players than just decent ones, because I am able to relax, because I know it won't look bad if I lose to them, and that helps me. When people think you are a good player they expect you to do well always, and I hate talking to other players and telling them who I lose to, and having them be surprised and say "Why are you losing to _____?"

I don't try out NEW tactics in tournament ever, however, I do try to land certain moves. I try to find openings for Usmash and pivot grabs far more against opponents that I feel confident about, and I also try to do more flashy groundfloats and turnip setups, and I approach more.

For me it's especially difficult because my character racks damage but doesn't kill. I am really really bad about being greedy for the kill. Unlike characters like Olimar and MK (and many others) that can just spam their kill moves until they hit with fairly minimal risk, when I start throwing out too many fairs I tend to get punished and people start to come back on me. However, I can make comebacks well myself because my character racks damage well. I'm also bad at 3 out of 5 sets. I typically 2-0 my opponent or get 0-2'd. Not always, but I'd say about 60% of the time it's one or the other. I usually try very hard to win on my opponent's CP, because I don't want to have the match go to game three.

Musically I like most things as long as they have decent (or at least fairly creative) lyrics. I like things with mad beats such as Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Snoop Dogg, Gorillaz, The Killers, Lady Gaga, Chromeo...other stuff like that . I also like ska very much, especially Streetlight Manifesto and Reel big Fish. I also like some chill music like Sublime, Radiohead, and Velvet Underground. Also, I like Flogging Molly very much, but I'm not so into punk as I was a couple years ago.

lol Cook and I never compete over placings. That would cause alot of fights and drama which we certainly don't need anymore of, and because we both have some problem matchups and generally choke in bracket, it really depends on WHO we fight in bracket as to who places higher. If he has a favorable bracket he will place better and if I have a favorable one I will place better. We like to see each other do well though. I don't care if he outplaces me and I dont think he cares either.

We get so mad at each other at friendlies though. Whoever is losing that day is pissed at the winner.

Hmm, well, I've been playing video games since my parents (who are very sad to this day about it) bought me an SNES. I think I was 5 or something. I just have always liked video games.
I've been playing smash since 64, I just didn't know about the competitive scene until brawl came out. I've always thought I was good but I was a total scrub at melee and 64 (I know this now). But now that I know how to improve and have people to play with I can manage to not be a scrub lol. I just like the concept of the game, the originality in the type of fighter that it is, and when I found out there were competitive tournaments I thought that sounded so fun. I almost always enjoy every tournament I go to, and I've made countless friends across the country, so I'm glad I decided to get nerdy and go to tourneys.

God my top 5 video games. That's tough. In no particular order
Mario RPG
FF9 (sorry haters)
Smash obviously
Donkey Kong Country 2
Snowboard kids or Ocarina of Time or Link to the Past...one of those three

Well I don't know if I would ever have learned of another fighting game scene. I'd be playing whatever other games interest me that I play when I'm not playing smash, so just casual RPGs, platformers, etc. I've never really liked street fighter but if Smash didn't exist and I knew about the SF scene I would probably try to play it competitively. Marvel v Capcom is such a great series for fans, but watching the game, it looks impossible and I don't think it's very balanced. I like fighting games where you can win with whatever character you choose. I'm interested in checking it out though, I can play as Magneto and Wesker and some other third person that I'm sure would be equally cool.

@Trent - yes, but I wish more that all the MW lived in Florida so the weather wasn't butt****ing horrible.
@Ripple - no I like to **** you forever and have you win anyway :c

@ Nicole: Why does MO have one of the coolest scenes around? In all seriousness though, are you excited to team with Will at Whobo? I think that team will be pretty ****, and he is really nice, I'm excited to see how you guys do. *I could just ask you these in person, but I wanted to participate :) *

@ Ensis: I don't know if this has been asked, but how did it feel to do so well at MLG? I honetly think you could have gone even farther if you hadn't had to face someone who knows you so well in Atomsk. How much farther do you think you could have gone if you hadn't had to play him? I don't think I ever asked you this.

I don't know if this has been asked either, but did you main anyone before Toon Link, or did he kind of "fit" you right away?

How does it feel to have "L." become such a trend recently?

^Even worse than that are the people who say 8 is the best.

What's the absolute worst is that most people seem to think 8 is better than 9. IT BLOWS THE MIND.

@ Both: What would you consider your best matchup in the game?

The Snake Match Up by far is my best MU in the game. I like it for all the wrong reasons though. Fighting snake is a challenge to me because you have to not only watch out for snake, but you have to watch out for all of his BS that he has out on the field (C4, Claymore, Nades, etc) and you have to be able to hit Snake safely without taking too much damage.

How do you prepare for interesting/anticipated sets?

My interesting/anticipated sets are usually against people who give me a challenge. Depending how good they are, questions will be going through my head like "What if I win? What if I lose?" or.. "I know I am going to lose" but...I always tell myself "Just have fun." I really don't care if I win or lose to be honest and I do just that. I have fun.

Do you use matches you feel you're going to win to try out new tactics?

No. I start to become more aggressive than usual if I know the match is mine.

How hard do you feel it is to finish a complete match and what advice would you give to players who struggle to finish and win a match? (I know I always struggle to finish matches I have in hand early)

I don't find it too difficult to finish a match. I think that a lot of people just psych theirselves out when it comes to finishing a match (especially when it comes to sealing the deal with the final kill). I would say that "patience is the key." Just wait for the right moment for the kill. A lot of good players will notice when their opponents play style changes drastically (in a bad way) and they will be able to capitalize on that. Also, if you ever get to a point in the match where you need to collect yourself, I would suggest just standing away from your opponent and to calm yourself down while watching your opponent and making sure that he doesn't attack you while you are doing this.

What are your favorite genres of music? Favorite non-smash related game?

I like a lot of music. I hate country. I am currently listening to kanye's new album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and I like T.I., Kid CuDi, Lupe Fiasco, J. Cole (ty jerm), and more.

My favorite "non-smash" game is Marvel vs Capcom 3

For ensis!
Favorite zelda game?

Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask (I have three. Can I have three? :) )

Do you think you're better than jash?
No.

Can you play any zelda songs on any instruments? (Jash plays zelda songs on the piano lol that's why I asked)
No.

Hottest babe in all the zelda games?
What..

What the hell do you do in kansas?
Everything if you are in Johnson County :awesome:

@ Ensis: I don't know if this has been asked, but how did it feel to do so well at MLG? I honetly think you could have gone even farther if you hadn't had to face someone who knows you so well in Atomsk.

Um well, it was something that I didn't think would happen. Atomsk and Domo were the only people that thought it was possible, but I honestly didn't think I would have made it into the Pro Bracket. It was awesome though. Everything from beating havok, Trevor (atomsk) picking me up after I had just did something else (I can't remember lol) and the community (once again) was just awesome haha. I didn't think that the crowd would enjoy watching a time out as well. When I played CO18, that was probably the campiest that I have ever played. Period. The count down from the crowd was actually useful because I had no idea that the match was about to go to time (we both had 3 stocks with about 2 minutes left :bee:). But yea, that was my favorite tourney for many reasons.

How much farther do you think you could have gone if you hadn't had to play him (Atomsk)? I don't think I ever asked you this.
Idk..its hard to say. I would have rather played anyone than him though at that tournament..

I don't know if this has been asked either, but did you main anyone before Toon Link, or did he kind of "fit" you right away?
Nope! I have mained TL since I unlocked him. I started camping naturally because I played the wifi ladder on AIB and playing aggressive just got myself wrecked. I had to resort to camping and I actually tried playing somewhat aggressive offline since I learned most of my TL shizz from playing others with TL...but hyro was always there to help me and I just tried doing a lot of the stuff that he did but that never worked out for me. So I guess you can say he "fits" for me now haha.

How does it feel to have "L." become such a trend recently?
Lol. I honestly didn't think that would happen but its cool

What characters do you guys prefer to team with, and are there any characters you want to try teaming with eventually?

I prefer teaming with Metaknight. I don't have to worry about trying to save my teammate too often and MK can save me if need be with his amazing recovery. I wouldn't mind teaming with another TL (as long as they were more aggressive than me:bee: ). I have thought about teaming with peach but that team wouldn't be able to kill easily. So probably just MK in the future.

Well Tmacc, some states are cool (MO) and some aren't (MN) (just kidding).

Yes I'm extremely excited to team with Will, I have alot of experience teaming with big characters and Will is a really excellent player. I think we'll do really well. We should be able to get top 2 - 7, something like that. Plus we're both gingers. So we're gonna ****.

I like teaming with MK first and foremost (which I never get to do). He is the best teams character and I think Peach & MK work well together. I also like teaming with DDD, the dthrow -> usmash setup is too ****. Unfortunately double MK really does **** that team if they only tornado DDD. Also I like teaming with Diddy. She controls the space around his bananas so well. They can't kill though, that's the only problem.

Also Ensis, you dont want to team ever? :'<

I remember KB and I teamed once and ti was alot of fun. The only reason we lost was because I'm greedy and try to spike ike on pirate ship. The team can dish out damage fast.
