Kzhu is one of the most unimpressive peaches I have ever seen. I don't know how Dart could've lost. He must've just played with one hand, or drugged himself before the set to make it appear even or something.
yeah dude he played me with one hand!! thanks for the handicap dart!!

First time I played Oro?! I thought he was only playing with one hand. Then I looked over and realized he's just free. :denzel:

I might be able to house you depending on how many people you're bringing. Already housing a few Cali players, and I can't go overboard like last time (GSS). I'll try to find someone else who can house downtown as well.

Let us define some terminology here regarding our typical Smashfest venues.

The Game Room:
Epic video game archive at UM north campus, room for up to 3 setups, closes pretty early (9pm) but almost always a Smashfest happening on Mon/Wed/Fri afternoons

Masonfest:
Mason Hall in Ann Arbor, nearly unlimited room for setups, not the most "homely" of Smashfest venues but it has tons of TVs and is open 24/7

Slayerfest:
Slayer's place in Troy, room for up to 2 setups (correct me if I'm wrong?), good central location for East MI, infamous for extreme nightfests into the AMs

Jugglefest:
Juggleguy's place in downtown Ann Arbor, room for up to 2 setups, good central location for UM'ers but roommates often complain about excessive Smashing, lolol

Giofest:

Gio's place in southeast Ann Arbor, room for up to 3 setups, often a Brawlfest venue but is occasionally converted into a Melee or Smash 64 zone

Marcofest:

Marco's place in East Lansing, room for up to 2 setups (correct me if I'm wrong?), solid Melee and Smash 64 friendly option for people around MSU

Also, an archive of common venues in Michigan:

University of Michigan venue:

Mason Hall Room 1427
Room 1427
419 S. State Street
Ann Arbor, MI 48109

Driving Directions:
1. Drop off your TV at the temporary lot in front of Mason Hall.
2. Go park at the Liberty Square structure, which only charges a $2 one-time fee on weekends.
3. Walk back to the venue, it's a 5-minute walk or so.

If you plan on driving to the tourney, then please familiarize yourself with these parts of downtown Ann Arbor! Print out the maps if you have to.

University of Michigan venue:

Pierpont Commons East Room
2101 Bonisteel Blvd
Ann Arbor, MI 48109

We're moving to a new, bigger venue! Pierpont Commons is the center of activity on UM North Campus and includes food options, a convenience store, TV lounge, piano lounge, bookstore, computer labs, and of course the room we'll be playing in.

Photos:

Driving Directions:
1. First, drop off your TV if you brought one. It's a 10-second walk from the TV dropoff spot to the venue room, so don't cop out! The venue room is exactly where the "A" is marked on the map.
2. Go park at one of the free parking lots on Hayward St (look for signs everywhere that say Parking Enforced Mon-Fri) or park at the paid visitor lot right next to the venue if you're super lazy.
3. Walk back to the venue, it's a 5-minute walk or so. Follow the arrows if you're unfamiliar with UM North Campus. If you're lost, ask someone where Pierpont Commons is, all the local students will know.

University of Michigan venue:
Undergraduate Science Building
Room 1230
204 Washtenaw Ave
Ann Arbor, MI 48109

Driving Directions and TV Dropoff:
1. First, if you brought a TV, drop it off at Palmer Dr right below the venue. Walk inside the parking structure and take the elevator up to the "PL" Level.
2. You can then park at the Palmer Structure ($1.10 per hour) right below the venue, or you can go park at the usual Liberty Square Structure ($3 one-time fee) which is further away but cheaper overall.
3. Go back to the venue, USB Room 1230. It's a short ride up the elevator if you parked at Palmer, or a 10-minute walk if you parked at Liberty Square.

Michigan State University venue:

Shaw Hall, East Lower Lounge

Great location right in the center of campus. The East Lower Lounge is located on the bottom floor of the building. When you first walk into the Shaw Hall, find the flight of stairs near the entrance (either the right or left, depending if you enter from East or West), then walk all the way down to the bottom floor. There should be signs to help guide you to the room.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&cl...ed=0CBIQ8gEwAA

IMPORTANT: Both venues for this tournament series are located in university buildings. Consequently, everyone must leave the venue in GREAT CONDITION to be able to hold class there the very next day.

* No drugs or alcohol anywhere in not only the venue, but the entire building.
* CLEAN UP TRASH WHETHER IT'S YOURS OR NOT. The venue has to look presentable after we leave.
* Do not wander around the rest of the building. We have our own area designated for Smash.

These venues are not easy to secure! If you fail to comply with the rules the TOs have set, you are only hurting the Smash community. It is critical that we maintain good standing with our respective schools.

Parking/Housing
========

Michigan State University parking:

All parking highlighted in green is free over the weekends. The parking right on front of the hall is usually full though. If you can find an open spot, feel free to park there, otherwise, use the Shaw ramp. The ramp also has signs everywhere saying "Visitors/Students Park In Meters Spaces," just ignore it, it only applies to the weekdays.

Michigan State University venue:

Fortress Comics and Games
425 Albert Avenue
East Lansing, MI 48823

The Shaw venue from past SWEETs was unavailable, so we're running this tourney at a card shop nearby! There is a spacious 1700 sq ft room in the basement that the owner has rented out to us for the day. Make sure you check out the maps and know where to go, because I don't know if anyone will have reliable cell phone service in the card shop basement to help you out.

1. If you have a TV, drop it off at the venue first.
2. Park at one of the free parking lots a few minutes away on campus (marked in green) or the paid parking structure across the street from the venue (marked in red).

Venue Policies:

* No drugs or alcohol anywhere in or around the venue!
* CLEAN UP TRASH WHETHER IT'S YOURS OR NOT.
* We have our own area designated for Smash. Be courteous to the card shop owner and customers in the other non-Smash areas of the venue.

These venues are not easy to secure! If you fail to comply with the venue policies, you are only hurting the Smash community. It is important that we maintain good standing with our respective schools.

add me to that list. Jon and I are ALWAYS down to host a fest. No brawl, there will always be the option of 64

I have two setups myself but I can fit more once I get another table. Mine is glass so I dont trust it with more than 2 tvs

Michigan Melee Summer Circuit 2015

For the next few months, Michigan Melee is doing a statewide circuit! All tournaments will be Melee-focused, featuring Melee Singles and Melee Doubles with up to one additional side tourney. With a circuit event every week or two in locations across the entire lower peninsula, there will be no shortage of playing time this summer. So come on out and fire up some Melee with us -- Smashers of absolutely all levels, casual to competitive, are encouraged to participate!

Please note that most, if not all, of the circuit events will be taking signups through online paid registration. This will reduce overhead for the tournament organizers, who will then be able to provide a higher-quality experience for everyone in attendance. Make sure to join the Michigan Melee Facebook group to stay up-to-date on news from each upcoming circuit event, including registration deadlines!

Prizes

Each circuit event will take out $20 from its singles pot to go towards the circuit prize pool and also award points to players based on their Melee Singles placing as follows:

1st place: 20 points (increases to 30 points at circuit finale) + 1 bonus point per Michigan PR player in attendance
2nd place: 10 points (increases to 15 points at circuit finale) + 1 bonus point per Michigan PR player in attendance
3rd place: 8 points (increases to 12 points at circuit finale) + 1 bonus point per Michigan PR player in attendance
4th place: 6 points (increases to 9 points at circuit finale) + 1 bonus point per Michigan PR player in attendance
5th place: 4 points (increases to 6 points at circuit finale) + 1 bonus point per Michigan PR player in attendance
7th place: 2 points (increases to 3 points at circuit finale) + 1 bonus point per Michigan PR player in attendance

After the conclusion of the circuit finale, each player's final point total will consist of their eight highest placings out of ten possible placings. This is to allow everyone to "skip" two of the circuit events without harm due to the long geographic distances involved in traveling. Finally, the top two players with the highest final point totals will receive 70% and 30% of the circuit prize pool, respectively.

Let the Smashing begin. Check back here regularly for updates! And for daily discussion, make sure to join the Michigan Melee Facebook group.
