Need melee practice...

This month must have just been a small fluke w/ the lack of melee tournaments

I would hate to think it were diminishing in FL of all places

This is a message I've prepared for Vericx/whoever is in charge of FL gaming.


As you may or may not have noticed, some discussion has come up as to what should be considered "legal" in florida tourniments as far as stages goes.

I recently went to NY for a huge national tourny(Apex), and the stage list was as follows.


Neutral:
Sville
Bfield
FD
Yoshi's
Lylat

CP:
Frigate
Delfino
CastleSeige
PokeStadium 1
Brinstar
Halberd
and RAINBOWCRUISE

Things to note in comparison to Fl tournies:
Norfair has been removed.
-Atmosphere is less gay/campy
-Smashers are generally much happier
-Matches ended quicker on the whole
-Only reason people go there is to solely abuse the stage in the effor to camp/run the time.

PirateShip has been removed.
-Slightly less, but equally gay/camping stage.
-Promotes the idea randomness can win matches
* This passed weekend hbox team vs co18's team, down to just them two on pirate ship. Last stock, hbox at 220, co18 at 110. Co18 lands an uptilt on hbox, he obviously dissapears up, and co18 and hbox shake hands. During this time co18 gets flung off the stage by the spot he was standing on, killing him to the side instantly, causing co18's team to lose the match. -Based on conversation with co18.

Rainbow Cruise has been added.
-Impossibly to camp the entire stage, as multiple confrontations are unavoidable.
-Level remains constant, nothing changes, route, time,layout remains the same every time.
-A stage that can be LEARNED not gimicked.
-Only slightly counters certain characters in certain matchups.

I have also had multiple discussions with various smashers on these notes, and have yet to find anyone with valid arguments against them.

If you have any feelings on the matter I'd love to hear them myself, but as you will see it all seems pretty solid, and co18 and myself would love to see a change starting this FL gaming.

So be the one to start the reformation, save Fl's metagame from goin down the ****ter.

I will consider using this list. I have been to a few brawl tourneys the past few months and have seen MANY gay things happen due to stage counter picks. One being Action B@stards win vs Walnut on norfair.

I'm sure many of you will LOVE the idea of norfair being taken away and many others will hate it because they rely on this stage for a win.

Same thing goes for rainbow cruise!!!

Also, were wall infinites used on RC? Do you know if they forced a rule of no wall infinites??

I will allow discussion on the stages but the final decision will be up to me.

wall infinites don't last long in RC, depending if you get caught or not, by then the stage transistions to platforms and the ship goes down, but there are other sections where wall infinites can happen

i was there for that match with CO 18 and hbox. it was the craziest thing you've ever seen. i agree that pirate ship and norfair should be removed.

Wall infinites were allowed, even the standing ones vs luigi and stuff were allowed as well.


IMO ban the standing infs. allow wall infs, like on delfino, no different to me. (delfino is worse as they're more often, more deadly. wall inf. to suicide kill since the stage moves up instead of side to side, and the wall doesnt just dissapear on delfino...)

RC doesn't only slightly counter just a few characters. It counters the ICs like nobody's business (even worse than norfair and brinstar). Then again..........IC mains do get 1 ban to choose. hmmm

where is this knowledge coming from?


i was at apex where judge(a mk) cp'd meep (IC's) in the third match on RC, and Meep WRECKED judge, cuz he knew how to use the stage properly, and knew the matchup well.


why did he know this stuff? cuz in his region, as well as many others, hes played that matchup on that stage numorous times beforhand, and gained the EXPERIENCE to handle others there as well.

a stage where characters with otherwise disadvantaged, but still able to win based on a players experience... sounds like a couterpick, not a norfiar.
