Just got back home after I got knocked out of singles.

Basically some old guy who ran the place came in around 12:30 or so and asked for Manko and then Manko relayed the news that we were being kicked out. We even tried offering to pay $5 each again to cover today and the guy wouldn't do it, he just wanted everyone out for whatever reason.

Me and a friend went to Wendy's to eat afterward while the new location was being sorted out, and from what I understand, that same guy came out to where everyone was gathered in the parking lot by the entrance and threatened to call the cops.

Old people can be such a pain.



So anyway, we got it worked out. Nero's place was a little small for as many people as we had, but it was okay.



Honestly, I was a little surprised by the character composition

Basically nearly any time you looked around, you'd see at least one metaknight on each of the 5 TVs. 2 Snakes, 1 Dedede, 3 ROBs, 3 G&W, I was the only Falco, no ICs (!), no Wolf. If I missed anyone in that count I apologize, but that's what I recall seeing throughout singles and doubles while I was there character-wise, at least of those who are "high/top tier material".

I honestly would have expected more Snake and Dedede, and at least an IC and Wolf. The sheer number of Meta players was ridiculous.

Anyway, that's my semi wall of text summary of today.

- To All: thanks for coming out and I'm sorry the Venue fuked us over. At first the landlord said she'd just take the extra $100 for a second day from the $200 deposit, which was the plan anyway so it was fine. Then the head honcho mega ***** heard and decided to kick us out. Having complaints of people sleeping there (understandable, and I tried to hide it but he found blankets/pillows) moving the furniture (wtf?) and "gambling", even though they knew it was for a tournament and I've used the place once before already with no trouble. So they pretty much looked for any excuses to shut it down. We'll see if they try to keep my deposit and/or charge for a 2nd day even though they didn't give it to us. Pretty BS for that place to cost $400.

- Nero: Thank you so much to you and your roommates for letting us use your place. It saved the tourney. Thanks Lobo too for offering to use your lan center, but it was much more convenient for the travelers to stay in town.
- xYz: thanks for the help with the tourney, especially since I wasn't able to get to the new place right away.
- GDX: nice work recording the matches there. I didn't bother to bring over all my VCRs after the shutdown.
- Melee guys: I wish it was a bigger turnout, but that's to be expected I guess. Hope you guys had fun anyway though. It was pretty lax that day since we had so much time and I didn't feel the need to hound you to complete matches.
- Brawl haters: Why no Melee attendance?

Manko - Thanks for hosting, I wish I could have gotten there earlier to hang out in the original venue a bit more before we got evicted, but I guess **** happens, and like I said before, ornery old people suck.

Nero - Thank you so much for being able to pick up and hold the tourney at your place. It was a bit cramped, but still sooooo much better than cancelling or driving another hour or more away.

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists called the dispute a "knotty problem" that had no precedent in decades of negotiating.

i actually, left home happy today. unlike last gigs. i was a bit disappointed with our doubles results(5th), cuz i wanted to place and get money, but we lost to two very tough teams. they were respectable loses. gg's to those teams.

in singles i guess i did kinda good. i did get 5th which makes me kinda happy seeing how i was saying that noone cares about anything under top 5. so i guess people care about me, lol. i am going to be working really hard on a secondary. so watch out for that. 5th in teams and singles, isnt too bad, despite it's small size.

Well, it was fun, as usual. I didn't win, as usual. Felt i got better, as usual. i DID however, have one of the best endings ever to a tourney match. I'll keep inching along and eventually ill be in the top 3. the day of the monkey will come!


as for the recorded matches, my laptop is pretty gay. While recording, it struggled so much that it basically skipped frames while recording. IE, it looks like it recorded in fast forward. not to mention the sound is lagged, so i have to just put some song on top of each match. So, I'll slow all the vids down and I hope they are watchable. From now on I may just bring my tower along to tourneys, as my tower can record matches without frame lag and they'll have their original sounds because I can't afford a new laptop right now
