I was referring moreso to the whole "Mario is a bad character" thing that everyone likes to say all the time...like that hasn't been a known fact since like 2009.

That's like me going around and saying "McDonalds isn't good for you!" or "Wrestling isn't real!" all the time. We know, lmao.

I have a question. For Boss but also for everyone else. When you (boss) play I see you switch up your playstyle almost every time a hit is landed on you or your opponent. What are you thinking about when you are playing? Do you think about all the different ways to mix things up? I want to get inside Marios that are better than me's head.

People do mix-ups to keep the opponent guessing. If every time I jab I do the 3 hit combo then you can always expect it. But if I do it 3 times and the next time I grab it will cause you try to think what I'm gonna do. If Boss were to play a standard fighter my bet is that he would pick a character with a lot of resets.

Up-B and Bair. Don't try to force a kill. Fireballs are cool. Gimps are completely possible and are often what will turn the match in your favor against good Warios. Mario has lots of trouble killing which gets him into trouble in the matchup, so forcing an early kill is generally how you will secure a win.

I think that's how that matchup works.

Fireball imo. Here's why:

Does damage as opposed to FLUDD
Gimping capability (especially against heavies and spacies)
Setups for gimps and kills
Mario isn't stuck in the animation for as long so you can move more quickly afterwards

There are probably more reasons but that's a quick list.

Only bother using Fludd if you're spraying them while they're doing a recovery move imo. Otherwise, just focus on hitting them with something or taking the ledge and punishing the landing lag. Most characters with decent recoveries can avoid getting placed in situations where Fludd will be really effective.

Can't be fakin' on FLUDD... I love it more and more as time goes on.

People react so predictably after getting sprayed cuz it's such a wtf.

It's fine against both

However, don't approach with tornado- a lot characters have moves that will beat it from the side. Stick with it for shield pressure and if you're already really close.

It's good as an OoS option as well. Tall characters can be caught in the whole move if you sh dair OoS and this can string into uair, etc. I play against a good DK on a regular basis and this is something I occasionally get away with and leads to a sick combo.

The usefulness of dair kinda depends on the match-up. Bigger targets generally get eaten alive by dair though.

Like Matador said, it depends on who you ask. I actually think DDD is worse. But MK is definitely very difficult. It's possible I just have a lot more MK experience so the MU feels easier.

D3 is worse imo. D3 is just dumb (not that MK isnt, but D3 just is MORE dumb lol)

Mk>D3

Mk has more speed, nado, gimpin, fast d-smash, Sloop (Up-b) etc....
Even tho D3 is still a bad mu for mario, i feel confidant that i will win that mu anyday.

I play that MU fine until I get grabbed over like 45%. Then I chill out and think about the next stock, or eat a sandwhich, or go take a piss, or listen to music until Mario gets back on the spawn platform.

If I get grabbed twice and don't have stock lead, on to the next game.
