Sigh...the good old days of catridges, no errors then :D. And really? I thought repairs are free for all consoles, but I guess it depends on warranty.

Right this second, I could reach in the back of my closet, pull out my SNES, blow into my Super Mario World a couple times, and it'd work like it were new.

All my data would be there. Don't gotta worry about **** skipping or locking up (unless I bump the SNES or somethin stupid), and there's no need for a case that'd inevitably get broken after all these years.

Cartridges were the ****, srsly.

Cartridges were awesome, just the fact that you couldn't store much data into them.. hence why Squaresoft went to Sony for the PS1 instead of the N64..

But gotta be worried bout the internal battery of the cartridge.. if it dies, there goes all your data.

Added you Famous.

Cartridges were awesome, I still have my Banjo-Kazooie, SM64, Majora's Mask and Smash Bros to this day. What I hate about discs is when I put my games in my Xbox cases over time they start to crack. Wish i knew that before my copy of SSFIV broke.

Banjo Kazooie! I love that game, I love how the music changes instrument in the lair and well its just a fun game. But yea my favorite about it is the music in the lair just so epic.

From time to time I play it and clear it

Mario 64! that to!

Banjo Kazooie was the best, I still remember it taking me 3 months to beat Grunty when I was 7.

Super Mario 64 was my first game ever.

First game ever...I think it was most likely Bubble Bobble for NES.

SMB1, 2, and 3 aren't far behind.

My first game was Space Invaders for game boy. Eventually I got a game boy pocket for myself so I didn't have to use my brother's. The game I played for hours on end was pokemon red. Favorite pokemon in that game was my Starmie.

First game I really got into was Super Mario Kart, I played that waaaay to much when I was a kid.

And blowing into catridges wasn't so bad :p, except the battery part does suck...I heard you can get those replaced but again, you lose all of your data.

SMB + Duck Hunt

Of course the SNES was out by the time I got it, but I still felt cool playing it.

SNES/64 were the golden age in gaming. I want it back so much. But since I plan on making games that is obviously going to reflect in my work!

I had learned I was game deprived thanks to emulators. I never had an SNES so there were a lot of games I had never played and some I didn't have for the PS1. As a kid I normally played platformers or multiplayer games with my brothers so I missed out on a lot of great RPGs that were on PS1. Other than Pokemon, I think my first RPG was FF10. I had played a lot of the greats from the N64 though.

My first RPG was Pokemon, and then Paper Mario. I loved both of them, I never actually played any other RPGs until recently though. I was mostly into Platformers growing up honestly, which the SNES/64 was amazing at producing for me.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Paper Mario. That's one of my favorite games of all time and I forgot it was an RPG XD.

I never played Paper Mario :(. My first RPG would be Pokemon Blue as well. I love how games made over 10+ years ago are still amazing. I'm playing FF7 for the first time right now, it's so much better than FF13...I kinda dislike how most games now are more about 'eye-candy' than plot, or character development.

Or am I the only one who feels this way?

No, you're not. It pisses me off pretty hard. Seeing a rehash of the same game every year also pisses me off to no end, so I refuse to support companies who do that.

It's a sexy RPG is what it is. TTYD was better though, both were really good though.
I personally liked the original more. There are some things they improved in TTYD but I just liked PM64 more

You're not the only one. I have found a new love for classics that I haven't played as a kid. Also get an N64 emulator and get Paper Mario NOW!

Okay, good, haha. And eeh, I'm a huge Square Enix person. I haven't played the Dissidia games because I don't have a PSP. But I mean they're older games were so damn good! I don't mind them remaking them, and updating the graphics (major part I love is updated music though :D.)

@Inferno - I might xP! If they have it on the Virtual Console, I'd rather buy it on there :D. It's just I have a bunch of other games to beat, and buying new ones isn't going to help my ever growing list, lol.

Maybe Sakurai was just depressed DDD didn't get into 64/Melee when he made Kirby low tier. So he took out his emotions on his creation like any father would.

That game was amazing. My 2nd favorite Mario game to date, and one of my favorite RPGs (SMRPG trumps it every time though. That is probably my favorite game ever.)

No you are not. It's part of why I haven't played a lot of the more popular titles. There are some really great games out there though. Have you ever played Psychonauts? If not, I strongly suggest it.
It also makes me sad how unoriginal most games are. Finding something genuinely original is rare.

And yet you own a Wii... XD

Well they have had some good ideas in the past and it would make sense to stick by those ideas. The problem is they don't always do that. Megaman had a good formula which worked well from the original - X6. They try to stick in a 3D aspect in X7 and it ends up not being as good as its predecessors. I heard in X8 they fixed some things but I can't say since I haven't played it. Capcom learned from their mistakes and made Megaman 9 and 10 using the original fundamentals and they are good games. Speaking of Megaman, has anyone played Command Mission adn the ZX series? I'm kinda wondering how good they are and if they are worth buying.

Well, don't get me wrong, I don't mean that successful series should necessarily make drastic, unnecessary changes just for the sake of change. What I mean is that a lot of games all follow the same general formulas and gameplay elements (If any of you watch Zero Punctuation, you'll have heard the phrases "Chest High Walls" and "Like God of War but" about 200000 times, and he has a point.).
Now obviously a FPS game is an FPS, and a fighting game is a fighting game, etc., but there can still be innovations, or even failing that, something that sets it apart as more than just another FPS.

Take the Halo series for example. While it had been done before to some extent, when the first Halo came out, it revolutionized several aspects of FPS games, such as vehicle usage (especially in multiplayer), limited number of weapons you can carry at once, regenerating health (Shown as shields in that game) and melee attacks. For a while after it came out, every game was pretty much copying it's example. Off the top of my head, there was a James Bond game using these mechanics in a blatant rip-off way, Timesplitters Future Perfect sacrificed some of the elements that had made TS2 so much fun in order to become a little more like the Halo franchise, I believe there was a MoH gamme doing something similar, but I can't recall precisely which.

Another good example, again in the FPS genre, is Gears of War. Now I haven't played this series much, so I may be wrong about this, but I believe that game pretty much revolutionized the 'chest high wall' cover combat that is so prevalent in 3rd person shooters today.

Team Fortress 2 also influenced the Battlefield Heroes game (which I'm not sure if it ever came out, or if it ever will?) to the point of near plagiarism.

It's kind of sad that every time someone has a good idea (and enough financial backing to make it a big thing. Poor Geist was such a good idea, and it will never see the light of online play. Oh why weren't you released on Xbox instead...) it gets copied into every game in existence.

Sorry, I'm kind of falling into a rant here, so I'll stop before I write out 7 pages, miss my bus, and get stranded downtown XD
