This is just to ban Metaknight right?
Actually, no.

This is to get the community to actively work within itself to avoid discrepencies in rulesets and try to get larger portions of regions to agree upon a standard ruleset for them all. This goes for every rule, major or minor.

In this, it's leaving it in the hands of the majority of the community (You know, the part that actually matters...) to decide on the fate of things.

This includes MK, and it may very well solidify his stay if it's proven that most communities prefer to keep him in play. If a majority can be shown within the communities, then he obviously isn't banworthy and people can point to actual community interest to show that the community - in fact - does not want him banned. Only a minority do.

Well, that sounds awesome, and I would participate if college didn't come first (which means I can't go to tournaments, it'd be too big of a distraction).

Common interests aside this feels like a pipe dream. I think, regardless, everyone wants to look at the BBR since they're the ones that "pass the laws", although in reality their word is not any better than the community's.

Part of me wants to believe it'd be easier (better is subjective) that the BBR just buckles down and says "Here's the rules, follow them. If you don't, your tourney means ****."

I'll actually be doing my best to contact TO's and members of the communities about this. I will betrying to organize this idea and get some backing.

It's up to the community to decide to take the game back into their hands.

Mikehaze's mario is better than mine :(
I don't think he's better. I think he's just gayer, which gives him the edge in the ditto. Back when I played him, that's the way I felt about his Mario in low tiers. I felt that I definitely knew the character better and had better execution, but he just was more patient and played according to the matchup and my flawed patterns as a player. I mean lol, I'm pretty certain I took the first game off him.

I would assume the same premise remains true today, although I think I probably would be more likely to beat him in the ditto in tournament after accepting how gay Mario can be.

Mikehaze is a better player than you. That's why he won. Skill > knowledge

dmbrandon's Mario is better then off of us.
Diem's Mario puts in mad work. I think I might play him in Mario dittos at VC8 if I can and steal some of his ****.

Mike's Marth >>>> everyone, so yeah duh, he's a better player.

But his Mario? He's pretty generic. Against me he basically just relied a lot on knowing when I would shield and randomly grabbing and of course he was making me do all the work approaching. He couldn't really land a kill move on me, while I would pull out some really early kills on his Mario through my experience in landing Smashes.

I don't think he really knows the character that well. He just knows how to play gay (besides making weird reads), which wins the Mario ditto, and that's probably good enough for him to be competent in low tiers since probably one of Mario's hardest matchups in low tiers is the ditto anyway.

And I don't think it's a question of skill or knowledge. The Mario ditto is just a gay matchup, and he plays gay quite well.

Mario can punish all of metaknights approach options
With up'b!!!
Pages ago, but seriously...

Mario's got one of THE best OOS options in this game. Theoretically, we should be able to punish anything that touches our shield guys. Even behind our shield, we have reverse UP B as well. Mario's got untapped potential, we just have to execute it.

Anyways, tourney saturday, I placed 5/18 again. I know exactly what I did wrong....

I DIDN'T USE UP B

Seriously, I lost to a Wario and GaW (who were both very good, don't get me wrong) but they were hitting my shield ALL day. I need to punish that sh** with up B.

Mario's dair is awesome btw.

How do you define gay, with Mario?
Gay as in never taking unnecessary risks, never approaching unless it's safe, never try to bite into baits, camping with shield and good spacing. Gay in the competitive sense is playing as conservatively as possible. And I fully condone that playstyle for Mario, given that he's fundamentally a very defensive character in the sense that his best strategy is spacing and reacting to approaches. Unfortunately this happens to make the Mario ditto VERY frustrating.

Mike pretty much outgayed me last time I met him. He just chose to play with extremely low risk, and in the 2nd and 3rd matches of my set, only moved after he considered the situation safe, like if he knew I was going to shield, or after I made an unnecessary approach.

Anyhow instead of Up-B oos, I highly suggest learning to use U-air out of shield. It's Mario's most practical out of shield option besides B-air imo. 98% of all N-airs out of shield should be replaced with a U-air as far as I'm concerned. Yes it requires you to be technical, but as a bonus, it also makes you angle shield upwards which is great when you realize one of Mario's weaknesses is small shield size.

Well vs. GaW, I'm not sure if Uair will have enough horizontal reach to punish a spaced, retreating Bair. Up B should though. Everone else, yeah, Uair sounds good.

Against G&W (and probably against MK and Marth in certain situations), what I recommend trying is facing backwards, angling shield ALL THE WAY UPWARDS, and pressing Jump+A button to Up-smash out of shield. Specifically in response to his B-air.

It's veeeery useful. Make sure you don't rely on it TOO MUCH since Mario's shield still sucks. I would also try my best to save this for kills if possible, but if you end up needing to use it a lot, just make sure D-smash is fresh and go for it at around like 130%.
