Ah. Are there any good Canadian Marios who don't go to tournaments? Well, of course there are, but I'm looking for their names.
Hi :).

lkp4 actually has a pretty decent Mario as well, you can find him lingering around the Ontario scene, and he actively plays on AiB ladder and goes to tournaments. He mains MK now though.

There is also mar1 from Quebec and Jay from Montreal, but I haven't seen Jay in some time. marmiton1 comes to our tournaments in Montreal every now and then but I believe Mario is a secondary for him.

So I took a game of ADHD's Diddy with Mario in tournament. I lost the set 2-1 but it was realllllllly close game three. :)

I also 2-0'd Rhyme's Samus as Mario Round 1.

Still ended up getting 33rd though. :\ Almost beat Allied's Kirby as Link. I was ****in' him up then I got *****. xD It was amazing.

Wasn't lkp4 that one guy that made a combo video against standing opponents? Meaning no DI? xD

There's noticeable lag on some HD models. Worse than Wifi lag. I refuse to play on them myself.

The reason HDTVs lag is because of the way they are set up. Wiis by default use a 480i signal using the standard composite cables (the red/white/yellow cable you plug from your Wii to your TV). HDTVs go no lower than 480p because of their resolution. Therefore, the TV lags because it has to convert a 480i signal into a 480p (or higher, depending on your TV) signal.

If you get component cables for the Wii (Red/White/Blue/Green/Orange) connectors, set the Wii to 480p in Wii settings, and set the TV resolution to 480p, then you have a very nice picture with zero lag. That's my setup right now :).

Some HDTVs (like some Sony models I think) have 'Game Modes' that might compensate for the fact.

Unfortunately most people don't have that setup so you're stuck with great TVs and absolutely horrid gameplay. :/

I searched it up. You can get it at Wallie's World (Wal-Mart) if you live near one. It's only like $20. I'm gonna get myself those cables :D.

I think in truth I got like..35th out of 45 or something..? That's just a guess. But it was mad fun. People we're asking me how my DI is so good. I wasn't dying with Mario or Link until about 180%. xD

I was thinking...using F-air to deal damage is a good idea if you can predict a whiff. It is the most damaging of Mario's aerials, and FFed, it can start "combos" at certain percents. And usually they don't expect Mario to attack from the air like that while he's facing forward. =P

I just landed a lot of F-airs lmao and that extra damage helped. =)

Fair does have some odd fakeouts because of his pullback animation which may dodge some attacks. It's guaranteed to hit late so you may shieldstab some shield-happy suckers. It pushes people farther back than any other aerial so you may avoid some shieldgrabs (although most people can dash out of shield and grab you anyways). It's also the most psychologically damaging move to land.

The verdict? Let's say you theoretically have the opportunity to land it, with the time it takes to land the Fair, I would prefer landing with a weak Nair and string it into an attack of my choice instead. :)

If ever I use F-air... I usually use full jump down A , then F-air. It's also a good mind game when someone is hanging on the ledge... it can lead to a spike..

Haha, d-tilt joke.

F-air is horrid, I never use it, unless I screw up a RAR b-air, or if I want the joy of spiking someone. But wait...too bad it's hitbox is so small it sends them up instead .

Maybe the odd time it'll kill them horizontally =P.

I hate when I'll have the perfect combo and setup for Fair and I end up getting that ******** sourspot instead -_-

At least give it the POWER that Doc's had.

Meh, I like Fair occasionally. I've become pretty good at landing it offstage, and I occasionally land it onstage as well when I see an opening, but meh, there's usually better options.

I use fair onstage randomly just to be like "ha ha, loser, I hit you with my slowest attack."

i normally dont fair onstage. not much reward cuz i normally get hit or sweetspot it so theres really no knockback. i love spiking with it because its awesome. i dont normally dont do it often though cuz my instinct tells me to cape or FLUDD instead.
