My ONLY Sonic training comes from a Dedede player that just got 2nd at a tourney this Saturday. I have a freakin hard time beating him and it also doesnt happen too often. Here's some of our matches

I dont know which attack to use to instantly be holding onto the edge

also when trying to use the homing attack to cross under stages, I cant control which way I go. Also on final destination I just cat make it across

if there is a character above you you will go back and forth
*because the homing attack follows people*

if there is not you go straight forward.......if you want to go back you have to tap the control stick backwards before pushing B.only if there is not a character above you




as for the dedede match i dont know too much myself but i can try and get my friend romeo over

all i can record with today is a fox......and w/e dumb character mango wants to play lol so i'll just record a set with my friends fox and upload the pokemon trainer set i have on my laptop

Lucky, stop asking for a sticky. There's no reason to sticky a vid thread, we wouldn't sticky a Ken Melee vid thread either. It would just be a waste of stickyness. And if you think it's so popular, it'll probably stay up on the first page anyway. Therefore, I'm removing the annoying 'OMG sticky this pl0x' stuff out of your first post.

Same here. Except my opponents aren't all that great so I spend more time taunting.


But I learned most of my Sonic from Lucky vids.

Regarding playing style: I really just picked him up and figured out what works and what doesn't. Me watching vids is a rarity, but LuCKy's vids are an exception, because Sonic is just so smooth to watch.

Most of Sonic's techniques are common sense. Like Coen said, hit training mode or call some friends over and figure out what works and what doesnt. Thats how I learned. Ive also watched Lucky's videos too since there arent that many Sonic vids out anymore.

Do you have any experience fighting Ike? I haven't had much experience with that matchup, but I know that there's hoards of Ike players out there, so I'd really like to know how that plays out.

I seriously neeed to see some Sonic vs Marth vids. I feel like Sonic is at a large disadvantage, but perhaps that is because I don't fully understand where all of Marth's delays are yet.

Any kind of speed owns ike, I think Sonic is just too fast for him. Dash attacks and other spin attacks go under his fairs, though are not outprioritised. So if an Ike jumps back and fairs, you're likely to get hit. His jabs are annoying as hell, they clash with about all of Sonic's ground moves. Edgeguarding is awesome though as you can spring his great aether or jump out and let him hit you with is over b while you watch him fall to his death. Spamming Spaced fastfall'd bairs are fun. Maybe cause I'm originally a Marth player and just have the urge to spam some kind of aerial.

You need to play against Marth just like you did in melee. Try to keep out of his range and bait him into attacking. Marth will naturally beat the crap out of you because you lack priority. Early hit dash attack is the safest move in this matchup as the late hit can get you bair tipper'd and that's not nice. I think you can DI away from most of his dancing blade. Spindash can catch him nicely when he sh nairs or just shorthops in general. Spam a few bairs. It's all good.

Good advice, I think I tend to get impatient fighting MArth sometimes and that quickly leads to my demise. It's kind of funny because it seems that with Sonic, despite his speed, a slow and steady stream of hit and run damage will net him a victory more often than trying to run around and get any sort of quick KO's.

Ike, has a lot of delay so he certainly is a much easier match up for Sonic. Other than my own carlessness, I don't usually have to many issues with Ike.

but all they have to do is stick out there sword..........thing made out of prioity and we get hit lol
