omfg what is going on here? healthy discussion...and Plank, the only person who hates you is probably Chozen, no worries man

*goes back to work*

EDIT@Hugs, you did what SuperDoodleMan was displaying by wavebouncing the upB, I believe. I'm not sure if that's exactly the same thing because he did that mess in the air and it might be different from running, but did you basically do the RAR [or whatever it's called where you run forward, jump and press back at the same time and you'll be jumping forward facing backward, except in this case you did upB?]?

Is everyone talking about 0:58 in this? That's definitely not a wavebounce.
so he basically just did the RAR with his upB right?

also...a friend of mine has a small vid of me on his wii (dunno when the hell I'll get that :() doing the wavebounce gyro cancel stuff but not the run-off-the-edge craziness...a much more practical use, although the MOST practical use is to not wavebounce at all but just jump forward and imagine doing like a reverse hadoken in midair [so down-b-quarter circle motion backward, or something like that, maybe even 8th circle backward] and then cancel...anyway, it's faster than doing RAR and you don't have to worry about pivoting or anything............................I don't know if this make sense so I'll summarize. you jump in the air forward, pull out the gyro facing backward, cancel it, and bair or do whatever. That's essentially what it looks like.

The fancy thing that happened in the vid? IIRC, I jumped backward away from the opponent, did the wavebounce which not only propelled me forward, but I was now turned around, and I canceled the gyro at the same time, and then did a bair. it's beyond surprising, so save this gem for when you can get a kill on those pesky DDDs or whoever tries to camp your aerial/attack lag.

You can also bait a premature Falco sideB by doing this since his SideB is faster than all of your aerials (meaning if he sees you jump, if you space far enough away, you can jump toward a recovering Falco, "gyrodash" [as JCaesar called haha...might need a new name] and bair....pretty **** in my head if you can do it =D

hope I can get that video soon, but no guarantee :(

Gyrodashing is a good name, it'll stick methinks.

For the uninitiated (or those who couldn't quite follow toasty's explanation),
Gyrodashing = wavebounced gyro, immediately gyro-cancelled (no airdodge, no lag).

Can be done in any direction at any time you're in the air (except during your up-B, but you can wavebounce that anyway). I'm pretty sure you can make yourself face whichever direction you want when you do it too (is that correct toasty?). You can do an attack *sooner* out of this than out of a wavebounced up-B. This has the potential to make ROB even more of a beast, changing directions on a whim and escaping combos with ease.

Edit: I've been known to abuse parentheses.

I believe it was a RAR. Still though.. never thought to use it that way... but ****.. seems quite playable.

I need to try out WaveBouncing Stuffs.. [but i probably won't stay with it..]

Plarnkk is most certainly NOT hated by ChozenOne... Chozen has nothing but LOVE and RESPECT for EVERYONE!

this should've been in parenthesis.

Also, I'm pretty sure the actual BOUNCE from Wavebouncing only comes if you already have directional [read, in this case: horizontal] momentum to alter. without that, you'll just turn around, which is fine if the person following up the combo has aerials slower than ROBs bair.

and yes, you can face any direction you choose. it's fun to bait people every now and then [great for the annoyance factor so your opponent is mentally frustrated] by facing away from them, jumping facing forward [they run after you], "gyrodash" toward them and fair

RARing the upB is pretty **** sweet, esp the ***-end explosive power of nair (is that the strongest part? or just my imagination? are there "stronger parts" in the first place? I can't tell if that's the case or if I'm just experiencing move decay)

What's with the brackets? You too good for parentheses?

I do have a couple more questions about gyrodashing (since I'm not able to do it consistently yet). Can you do it in either direction from neutral horizontal momentum? And can you do it multiple times in quick succession (in opposite directions I guess)? I don't see why not, but I'm having a hard time testing it for myself. If you can do it back and forth quickly, does this stall you in the air? That seems like it would be super-broken if mastered, especially since you can zip out of it at any time facing either direction.

JCaesar, I unfortunately don't have the resources [mostly time] to test this out extensively at the moment. maybe later this week or something, but not right now. so please, SDM, I second Chozen's suggestion [which was really seconding mine from before? so...I...nevermind. just if you could, please? =D]

and yeah...brackets are where it's at. even you recognize their superiority by suggesting that one would seek their assistance over parenthesis out of "too good"ness ^_^

Who the **** laughs in the face of death (9 hammer) Nacker does

Thats it for now i have some more comming of me vrs MetaGays and diddy
Added. You suck at glidetossing ya nub :p

I usually try to sit a gyro on the ledge when any character is recovering if the opportunity presents itself. A lot of the time I already have a gyro in my hands though.

Edit: ROB (SuperDoodleMan) vs Lucas (Seanson) MARATHON
Thanks SDM, void filled! Actually, if there are a few exceptional ones you could point out for us, that'd be very helpful.

Ruuku.. you NEED to play ROB MUCH FASTER....

You also need to use your spike.. you missed like 3 or 4 guaranteed spikes during both games combined... watch out for them.. ROB's spike is quite nasty.

And sir.. Fair is too sexy.. well played sir.

Thanks for the advice but it wasn't even well played. These are just about two month old and it must have been my first or second time playing ROB. But I like to believe that I'm much better now. ROB is so much fun. He's actually one of the only characters to give me a Melee feel. Ah... Melee... People don't even play anymore in my area. :urg:

Well it's good to see that someone in Florida plays ROB, I think you're the first one I've seen. Keep practicing, and find some better opponents. And don't forget about the gyro, it's one of ROB's most important moves. That fair comboing was nice though.

Hey guys, I saw there weren't any ROB vs Lucas fights since before the game came out, so me and Seanson recorded some. Here they are!

We played on a variety of stages of varying legality...verily.

btw, I don't remember if I said this...but GOOD **** to JCaesar and Nackers for placing top 10 at Cyberden!!!

did you guys use anyone for counterpicks, and if so, against which player/character with what character?
Thanks man. ROB all the way. I did pull out Wario against a Samus after I 3-stocked it with ROB, just for teh lulz. Wariocide ftw. I don't have a real secondary yet though if that's what you mean.

Thanks SDM for the Lucas vids. I linked to the entire "marathon" on youtube, but thanks for laying it out for us.

HAB, a bunch of your vids had broken links so I took them off. Didn't really bother trying to find them again cause we've got a lot of good vids now. I mostly just put up what people post here now (assuming they're tourney-level matches).

Thumbs has a couple of vids of me vs Yoster's MK. I won, but I don't think they're good enough to add to the first post. I will link to them whenever thumbs puts them on youtube in case you guys wanna see them though.

Edit: SDM your vids are posted individually, it's probably better that way and you did all the work for me anyyway.

Also now everyone can see the gyrodash in action (I like that name, shut up)

Yeah, the gyro is definitely good. Weak laser pressure is also really good. I play against the best Florida players. Like I said, these vids are quite old. I don't think I even knew about things like glide tossing. But I'll try to post some recent vids as soon as I'm not too lazy to edit them or if they last less than 3 minutes. By the way, there's another ROB player in Florida that just so happens to have won a tournament last weekend. His goes by the name of Icekid. I'm pretty sure that he has some recent videos online.

HugS your vids up up. Futile is amazing.

I'm disappointed that wavebouncing the gyro doesn't affect your vertical momentum at all. I guess gyrodashing back and forth is out the door. Still, doing it once is definitely useful. And thanks for the vid toasty.

I've been trying to weed out older and less high-level vids, mainly ones that I don't think really show the matchup at the top of the metagame. Please don't hate me if I removed your vid. I promise it's nothing personal. You're always free to make a thread to show off your own vids. Notably, I got rid of Azen's ROB, because even though he's really good, he doesn't really play like ROB, he just has sick mindgames and spacing.

Edit: Just watched vids of Icekid's ROB vs Ginger's Peach ... wow. He won a tournament? Even with an empty Peach section, I can't justify posting those vids. And then I watched him vs Hunter's Falco, and he just sat there taking lasers to the face for about 30 seconds trying desperately to charge his gyro. Don't take this the wrong way Ruuku, but Florida sucks at brawl.

You Sick F*ck.

On a side note.. HugS does not camp, and WC has the best Warios in the US.

On another note.. SDM plays a decent Lucas but should start to gimp w/ spiking...

On a similiarly related note.. Fat and Jolly black men still frighten the bejebees out of me..

I didn't watch the vids but I'll take your word for it...though as for this line, it might not be the case so much as: the people he thinks are the best at Brawl in FL really aren't?

ALSO: I accidentally wavebounced a gyro as I was trying to cover my return to the stage [I was almost off the screen] and killed myself ;______;

god****it.

Lucas's up-B has to be pretty **** hard to spike, but I haven't played a good one 1v1 yet.

Also, where are the zelda vids people?

I will try and get some Zelda vids this weekend...no guarantee they will be good though because I don't know if anyone good with Zelda will be there >_> If anything, I'll pick her back up and use her against the other prominent ROB main in our area [wish he actually posted...he's **** smart and definitely better than I am...but mostly because of experience, a void which C3 may have filled for me haha]

Also, Chozen, were you saying LUCAS should gimp more with spiking?

That's a pretty harsh statement especially when you are using videos from casual matches between teammates as proof. I imagine that the fact that he also probably mostly played Olimar and Diddy during the tournament just adds more truth to you conclusion? And I suppose the fact that he placed high or won other tournaments as Olimar would only further prove your point? But I guess I may be taking this the wrong way.

I would like to know when I posted anything that expresses who I think are the best at Brawl in FL? Please enlighten me.
