Are we going to do something about sonics horizontal killing power? That is the only thing I can think about that would make him more solid
I think we want to speed up his Dsmash so it's a more viable killing option. I don't believe that is in the BR testing set currently, correct me if I am wrong. I think that once his Dsmash is buffed in speed so the sweetspot is easier to land, he should be good killing potential wise.

Looking at giving his F smash a bit more of a KB boost.

Need to get the data for it and we can test it too.

But Dsmash is already faster than the Fsmash by one frame. I think Sonic mains (and myself) want a sped up Dsmash more than anything.

This is what Leaf and I did last night.

Fox U tilt and nair both have a higher base
Marth fair has better angle to facilitate combos and weaken KOs
TL D smash acts like YL D smash
Wolf shine hits straight up
Snake tilts do less damage
Changed Snake fair flib hit base
Changed Sonic F smash base
Wolf nair no longer has flinch frames
Fox shine (trying to make it work like before with more KB)
Wolf dair, higher base
Ivy dair:
Spike base moved to 40 from 20 and does 2 less damage
Flub hit does 2 more damage

These are all tests. Go to it :-p

I was afraid the Snake tilts would be doing less KB, and I'd be upset. Good **** on reducing the damage though.

Anyway, why does Sonic need a buff to his KO power now? Weak KO potential is his weekness, but he is already a very solid character. What is Sonic bad at if we buff his KO potential? Remember we should be trying to facilitate what characters are good at or the buffs the NEED. We should not be eliminating character flaws, especially on characters who are already really good.

I can see that point for Sonic, I was just saying that it would be nice to have a slightly higher base (like 10) to compensate for the sorry speed on the move and the fact that its one of his best finishers.

Also, expanding on a new idea for Snake fair:

Basically speed up the move and make the flub hit alot weaker, therefore making it more useable.

Frame data:
Hitbox 23-27
Ends Frame 67

After 1.5x speed up:
16-18 hitbox
Ends frame 45

Wolf dair lasts 40 frames instead of 47 (after hitbox)
2C148033 3FB33333

Wolf fair 40% ALR
2C008068 40200000

Thoughts

Edit:
Snake Fair 1.5x faster
2E008063 3FC00000

Falco shine 1.5x faster after hitbox
13070115 3FC00000

Thats the speed part of the Snake fair and the Falco shine makes it end frame 36 instead of frame 51

All changes I just listed in this set if you want to try it.

Also includes Kupo death boundaries tests.
Edit:

Updated Sheik fair and F tilt

- Fair dropped to 125 growth (from originally modified 135)
- Ftilt leg hit changed from 63 base to 80 and changed angle to 75 degrees (previous was 90) (PS: The growth we've been using is actually 33, which is 0x21)
Sheik uair hits are stronger
- Changed both to 110 growth from 100, changed second hit's base to 15 from 10
Snake fair
- Changed to 1.3x speed pre- and post-hitbox
Wolf Shine (Going with Yeroc values)
- 150 growth and 32 base, hits straight up
Mario FLUDD
- Angle changed from 55 to 30 degrees, growth changed to 150 from 100
Faster Murder Quake for Ganon
- 3x speed from frames 15-58 (hitbox to end)
Charizard glair spikes
- No need to explain
Sonic U smash winddown retry

I really like the thinking behind these changes. Taking some moves that are push away and making them more combo friendly I think is a great direction. Making more weird moves will help keep the game interesting instead of the boring game where all moves send in the same direction. It almost makes me want to suggest ganon's second dsmash hit to knock inwards!

Marth:
I think his tipper could use more upward angle

Wolf shine
Great idea, would like to see this work but its not working for me for some reason. The set kb works, but not the angle

Snakes tilts dont change damage for me

TLs dsmash does not act like YL

Fox's shine works nicely

Ivy damage works

The fox, ivy and snake kb I wouldn't be able to tell. The sonic according to my friend works

TL D smash was abandoned, I couldnt get the **** thing to work. Need some major help on it.

As for Wolf shine, I need to increase the base and scaling on it for sure.

Snake fair is also a bit overdone, gonna slow it down.

Vids of changes to be put up tomorrow.

Snake fair is now 1.3x as fast til the hitbox, 1.0 times at the hitbox, and 1.3 times after

Sheik fair is now at 0 base and 125 growth

Sheik F tilt is now base 98 KB and 80 degree angle from 63 (first modified base) and 90 degrees

In a world of my own devising
For Wolf's shine, I'm trying 150 and 32 . Liking it.

I'm also trying a slightly higher angle on Marth's fair tipper.

Everything else looks good.

I have some of my own changes in mind that I'll post probably tomorrow after people have had a chance to look at these.

Add this to the set:

Code:
PK Fire Wind-down triple times the speed
0A140113 40400000
Reason why is because the opponent has 11 frame advantage to do anything to Ness. Such as a Jiggs Rest... which is a bit nuts for a projectile like PK Fire.

I think I found some really great settings. Check out Picto or YI first. I hope its not just because of my expanded blast zones

Double post.

Can we get an official list of everything that is changed now? Do it like Shanus did.

EDIT 1: Used the Snapshot method and got a buzzing sound when I tried to load it up. I'm gonna take the CSS and Water Modifier Kupo posted off and see what happens.

EDIT 2: Snake tilt damage nerfs are good and feel fine. That should affect knockback right? His F-air is also a lot better now too. Seems like a decent trade.

Against a level 9 Captain Falcon I was able to lock him in PK Fire spam from about 0-80ish. Someone get a human to test it.

Sheik's F-tilt has this odd thing where if you hit with the tip of her foot they don't go anywhere. They take a little amount of damage though. Not a problem really, but something to consider.

Sonic's F-smash seems stronger. HE DOES NOT NEED IT! I also didn't notice a change with his U-smash. Same lag to me.

Ike's D-ait seems like a LONG attack to be spiking all the time. I'd have to mess with it against humans.

Murder Quake combos are sexy as hell. I still haven't been able to figure out if we 'fixed' the Murder Choke situation. I heard Shanus say that Ganon does not have guaranteed D-tilts still. Consider speeding it up to give him those setups?

Wolf's spike is safer now but still a little too unsafe for my liking. Another 2-4 frames should do it. Also the N-air is awesome now. Also, I didn't like Wolf's new reflector. It seems most people can just AD out of the hitstun before Wolf can get to them. It would have to be faster or have less KB.

EDIT 3: It seems the tilt changes affected Snake's knocback and it seems pretty flipping huge too. Against a stationary Falcon in training mode, against the edge of Smashville he had to be at around 175% to die with looked like poor DI. That's a terrible nerf Snake didn't deserve. Whatever happened to his F-tilt needs to be fixed, NOW!

The u-tilt isn't killing Falcon, again on Smashville, till 167%! That's terrible Snake's KO options were taken out back, beaten, *****, and then pissed on. I can't stress that it needs to be fixed.

EDIT 4: Played a match as Snake. Might as well just remove him. He can't kill for **** and the matches are super boring. He HAS to camp now. He's too easy to combo on and now that his tilts do less damage and laughable knockback (compared to the originals) it just isn't worth the risk to pursue people. Snake had the power to bull through people but it seems the damage nerf affected the priorities making him clash more. Snake has hard counters in Brawl+ and is much more manageable for the cast ever since we introduced hitstun. Hell, I don't know if he's top 5 material in Brawl+. And you guys dropped him faster then a 2$ hooker. I'm gonna shed tears for Snake tonight while I'll sleep. I implore you to drop the current Snake nerfs and see if you can just make him lighter, but still easy to combo.

Odd, I only changed the damage. Will recheck my figures on it to be sure, but I really dont think I changed the KB on them at all.

Sonic F smash should BARELY be stronger as well, thats the weird thing.

Ok, changes:

The only discrepancy on the Snake stuff I posted last page was on the third hitbox of the first hit. This is the fixed values below as well as a reworked Sonic F smash:

Sonic Fsmash (Base up 5, growth up 2) 35 and 100

Fox nair I increased the base by 10 each hit iirc (base 10 -> 20 and 0 -> 10). Fox utilt increased base by 15 on each (originals were 22 and 18, so now it's 37 and 34). Fox nair needs slightly less growth on each as a result (I'm thinking 110 -> 104 or so, so not a large change) and fox utilt needs more base and a little more growth. You can still follow it up with a sh aerial from too high of a percent imo. Also, it should be killing around 135-145, and it's not killing until 165-175 right now, and that's WITH the change. I think if I can get the kill percents to match up right, the low and mid percent combos will match up correctly as well. I'd also like to play around with his dair so that it won't combo into usmash so easily. Utilt/grab are fine, though.

Also, I'm still not done tweaking sheik's ftilt. The way I wanted the move to work is basically to send you horizontally if you DI away, where the only way sheik could catch up to you would be to run, so no second ftilt. Right now, the fix works to remove the ftilt lock, but not the way I wanted it to - you get out by DIing up. Also, the growth still isn't high enough. I want her to really have to chase you to fair you after that at high percents, although it should still combo.

Speaking of fair, with the speedup, it needs less power. I'm gonna drop it by another 5 growth and see how that works out (so down to 120 now). And no more uair buff. She doesn't need it to be any easier killing people. >_> Well, the buff to the soft hit of the uair still won't cause it to kill, despite the fact that now the only apparent difference between it and the hard hit is a 70 degree launch angle verses a 60 degree one, and they would probably still act different even if I did make their angles the same, which is completely asinine. It might be ok to leave that one in, but the buff to the hard hit needs to go.

Oh... and the foot hit of sheik's ftilt was left alone intentionally. It isn't broken by any means, and it's her reward for spacing the move well. It leads into a grab or second ftilt at low percents, and into a turnaround ftilt or usmash (if they DI poorly) at high percents, but due to the way the leg hit was changed, even if she ftilts again the only thing she'll be able to do after that (at any percent) is aerial you. If they really just plain aren't going anywhere (they should be being hit toward sheik in range for a grab...), then that's a problem and needs to be looked at. That would certainly be odd, though, if it was tied in some way to the leg hitbox... I'll need to look into that, I guess.

Oh... and marth's sideB... still needs to be nerfed. The whole point of giving him the higher angle on fair was to make it better for combos, which would be what marth's sideB mains trade for losing their main and having to learn how to play both marth and marth's sideB. I'm thinking less damage on everything and less kb on the kill hits.

As for ness, I think removing the no flinch hits of his fair would really help him out a lot (pretty sure that thing had no flinch hits). We've already done the same for zard and wolf, so I see no reason we shouldn't do the same for him.

MK Tornado change:
Comes out .75 speed (hits frame 16 instead of 12)
Move attacks at double speed (lasts half as long)
Double on both landing lags

16000112 3F400000
16160117 40000000
16000118 3F000000
16000019 3F000000

I would like to suggest we give back full mobility and then add this in (with double winddown) as this should be an effective way to nerf the move. Worth a try?

DDDs ftilt and fsmash don't work for me. Instead of making the fsmash trip inducing, can we just make the same as the sweetspot? Its an incredibly slow move and if you land it, you would be rewarded. Its kinda like ike's fsmash. DDD hasn't gotten much of anything since this project started

Also, can we have a different sound for Doc's punch? Like, have the same "thwack" as melee. I would like this same sound to be applied to ganon's jab for sexiness :p

I think these values are nearly perfect. Maybe could use a little bit more tweaking, but give 'em a try.

I've also made another very interesting discovery. The damage a move does has a direct effect on the move's launch speed. I don't just mean via growth rate... I mean there is an actual variable in the launch speed equation that takes the damage the move does into account. This is why snake's tilts sucked so bad when we nerfed their damage - that damage was contributing to their kb.

And here is the updated boundary mods code because the stage code doesn't affect death boundaries

What do they do specifically? So we know what to look for during testing.

Sorry. I made Yoshis island 10% bigger (5% on each side) and had to readjust the death boundaries since they didn't get pushed out

Here is an updated death boundaries. FD was too large

Tested the MK tornado nerf.

The landing lags and startup work, duration doesnt (so lets ditch it).

I think this is an excellent nerf to the move :)

Alopex and I worked on Ganon's D-tilt after Choke and got close, then it got late and my brain fried and I ****ed up a lot. Either way, if our testing went right (he gave me numbers and I tested) we got it down to this:

The d-tilt is normally 10 frames till you hit with it. At 4 frames the person will have hit the ground RIGHT before the d-tilt. So 3 frames means it requires frame perfection and 2 frames gives slight leeway. Here is the frame speed code I was using to test:

That's setting the move up at 2 frames. I was getting freezes when I tried loading the code up with snapshots, so I assume it was an error on my end. Either way, it's a pretty hefty speed up to catch them before they hit the ground but it is a pretty major part of his game I think we should preserve.

Wow, overdoing it on that hum? :-p

Jab is good (guaranteed damage) and tech chases should be easy as pie with that release time.

Ya I know. It seems our only way to solve the problem is just make it untechable somehow but that seems impossible. The Wiz Kick changes are a huge help to his game, especially the Murder Quake. It's sad to see the followups go since the Murder Choke really defines Ganondorf but giving him a 2 or 3 frame low poke is pretty nuts.
