Blubba, check regional zones for ND, there might be a small hidden smash community. Or if not, get enough of the people you do play with good so you can convince one to let you guys carpool to the closest tournament. There's gotta be a big one coming up within a days drive somewhere, maybe try to find one around the holidays or something. Just keep at it though, you'll find a way eventually, maybe next year if you come up to Oregon again or something. This time tell your parents there's a small tournaments in Spokane and I'll just have a smash fest set up with the other Washington smashers so it wont look like I'm some weirdo trying to get you into his house xDD. Or even then, there's usually pretty big tournaments in Oregon occasionally, we get Washington and NorCal to come up for them since Oregon is so conveniently placed on the map. You'll find something though, keep at it.

Although I can see how Link dittos could prove difference in skill when it's like.....Deva vs. me, usually dittos don't show/prove skill. It just shows how one handles the matchup. Some players do so-and-so against certain characters, sucky against others, and amazing against others. So you can't really judge based off dittos.

Like, I know this guy Dullrazor, from the R.O.B. boards. Amazing player, but he can't win R.O.B. dittos for his life.

This holds true for any ditto, really. For example, in InfernoOmni's guide to melee Fox, he states:

Yes, I know it's important to play other characters to gain knowledge and experience in those matchups, but this thread is mostly to learn general strategies that other Link players use. I know I picked up several things from matches against Legan. I might consider making a challenge thread for all characters in the future though. For anything else regarding this topic of all character challenges please post here --> http://smashboards.com/showthread.ph...90#post5424690 and not this thread.

Also, please, no more complaints about wifi/dittos not proving skill or whatever. Thats not the point of this thread, its mostly to gain tactics and strategies as well as a bit of healthy competition. If you guys want I will make a wifi/everything complaint thread for everyone to let out their frustrations.

WRONG

I just got to say this......MY GOD I SUCK NOW!!!!!!!

Right now, adapting from a Wavebird to a GC is hard. All the timings for the AT inputs are slightly different. I feel like half my game is missing such as proper jab cancels and I suck. Once I get use to the input timing I'm sure I will be a better player than I was before but right now, people are just kicking me when I am down.....

But o well ya won far and square.


I need to play more people to get use to the timing inputs......anybody can PM me if you want to play me. Come one come all, Kick swordplay while he is down.


At least 1 good thing came out of all this....

Haha, I fully understand :) I ***** with my wiimote+nunchuck, but I couldn't DAC ever, so I switched over to my wireless GC controller, was horrible, adapated, then couldn't afford batteries so I used my wired GC controller, and I was worse then when I first started playing Brawl xD , so I know what you mean by having to adapt to the new controller :)

You had me that first time on BF xD but you stick to the same old, same old to long and I learned it around 3/4 through that match, but it was already to late.... so I got you that second time ;) my only tip is to try and mix it up just a little bit more. (and I know I do the same old, same old, but I do my best to mix it up depending how well my opponent reacts.)

Ya but thats a valid john..

I don't deserve ANY JOHNS because a GC controler should be close enough to a wave bird. Wave birds are good for non=brawl games.....

I'll be crying on AiB chat trying learn how to use this abomination that has made me suck.

But it feels like i'm using this.......

that controller is ****ing **** LOL

yeah, new controllers are weird. used controllers are preferred because the buttons aren't stiff. Just break it in after a while and you'll get used to it.

smashbrawlrankings is a good site too.......

Don't get the wrong idea that since it's smaller and with less spammers, it automatically means AiB has better players. We have our fair share of top players too.

Tapion, Hylian, Toilethumor, Clouderz, to name a few. Even M2K and Legan are members, though they never actually are on the site lol
