Ugh, tried running a mile again today, but ended up running out of steam much earlier than expected. not sure if it was the sore legs, or the scorching heat >_>. Im gonna try to get my runs done in the morning before it gets too hot later in the day.

You shouldn't run when you're sore. The extra strain on muscles that aren't at 100% recovered isn't good at all.

Train, but don't overtrain.

http://health.usnews.com/health-news/blogs/on-fitness/2010/11/05/10-signs-youre-exercising-too-much
1. Decreased performance. A drop in your workout performance is one of the earliest signs of overload, according to Jini Cicero, a conditioning specialist based in Los Angeles, Calif. Altered performance levels are often more apparent in endurance activities such as running, swimming and cycling, she says.

Your body isn't used to the strain you're putting it through. Start slow, like running once every 3 days. Once you're feeling your legs nimbler, and once you feel a difference and you know you can go a step further, THEN change your training habits. Last thing you want is insomnia because your body's too tired to fall asleep.

Fruits and veggies will give you the vitamins/minerals to help replenish and refresh your tissues (not to mention all those phytochemicals, bioflavinoids, and antioxidents that are so good for you that doctors haven't even discovered all their health properties yet).

Whole grains (not refined wheat) will give you plenty of energy to burn for cardiovacular exercise; energy that does not burn out quickly nor leave you fatigued.

Some of the best sources of protein would be:
1) spirulina
2) hemp seed
3) maca root

Spirulina is an amazing plant that is about 65% protein... and it's protein is some of the most efficiently-absorbed protein you can find on the planet. Furthermore, you can disolve spirulina powder into water and to give it a protein charge. [1]

Hemp seed contains more than 50% protein and is easily digestible with 65% globulin edestin and 35% albumin protein. It's also a good source of Omega-3 lipids and dietary fiber. [2]

Maca root is a 'super food' which means that it's nutritional levels are above and beyond any other food source. It was consumed by Incan warriors to increase strength and endurance. [3]

I don't eat fruit much, actually. Most typical U.S. fruits have been bred to have as much sugar as possible, and you can get the same nutrition out of the greener veggies (kale, spinach, broccoli, etc- love them all!) without the sugar. Did you know a banana has as much sugar as a can of Coke? 0_o (the Coke is worse for you, higher glycemic index and no nutrients, but still)

I do love me berries though. Antioxidants FTW.

I'll admit I'm too lazy to research right now. Though with Bananas I love the potassium. Though it is a health fruit. I grew up on Mangos but even those I have to watch myself because I can eat those non stop. I live off broccoli though. =)

You get more use to it the more you do it. If you're starting out the run and walk is advised until you get used to being able to run the whole thing without stopping.

See, the health benefits of fruit are really overstated. They're definitely better for you than lots of other things that we tend to use to make up our diets (including grains; better to eat a banana than a sandwich), but you can get the same nutrients by just doubling up on vegetables or non-sugary fruits.

You say bananas for potassium? Avocados have twice the potassium and almost no sugar. Kale, spinach, broccoli, tuna, and steak all contain more potassium than bananas.

Kale, spinach, broccoli, peppers, and cauliflower all have more vitamin C per gram than oranges.

Fruit is great if you're lean, you'll burn off the sugars for energy and use the nutrients, and it tastes amazing (I'm a huge persimmon and mango fan). If you want to lose weight, double down on vegetables, you'll get more of the same nutrients without the sugar. Killing sugar as much as possible is the catalyst to weight loss.

I feel really bad now. I knew fruit was sweet and sweet=sugar, but are bananas really that bad? They make up about half the fruit I eat! (゜Д゜)

But I do like vegetables, it's just that fruit, for the most part, is enjoyable whether it's raw or prepared, whereas (at least to me), raw vegetables have little to no appeal. Furthermore, by preparing vegetables in a dish, you run the risk of making a poor culinary decision and potentially ruining what could have been good food, so I tend to eat vegetables less often than I should.

If you're lean, even the really sugary fruits are better choices than a lot of things most people eat (fast food, refined wheat, etc), so don't worry about eating a banana, it could be much worse.

If you're overweight, kill sugar, kill it with fire. White refined flour counts as sugar.

The neat thing about fruit is that it *is* palatable and easy, and a better choice than a lot of things, which is why I say that if you're lean, don't worry about it, it's not really bad and preventing you from eating even worse easy things. But if you're trying to lose weight, focus hard on eliminating all sugar.

Also, you'd be surprised how little sugar strawberries and raspberries have by comparison. A medium banana has the equivalent sugar of ~25 large strawberries.

As to your vegetable dilemma: you need to learn to cook up some veggie dishes. Oh man :D Curry, broccoli and beef, or even just spinach wilted in butter or coconut oil and salted...

I'll be honest; I cannot stand eating vegetables. Other then corn. :p I know it's not healthy for me to not eat them, but I'm such a finicky eater and cannot get past the taste of it...

IDK how but I have a fast metabolism. I'm 14 years old and I only weigh 88 pounds. XD Even though I usually eat junk food... O__o

Read "Why We Get Fat", it makes sense.

Generally, people who say this don't know how to cook, because vegetables are awesome. Canned/reheated vegetables are terrible.

Boy and I used to eat like 4-5 bananas a day. I still kinda do but been eating less. Ah well, I'm under 200 pounds so I'm happy with that especially with my height. Man the Avocado...I can't even stand them. Green peas and broccoli are the only green veggies that I eat.

Well, I just learned while helping with a friend's Eagle Project, that pineapples on pizza are, in two words...

But I don't mean to say that all vegetables are bad, but I don't cook for myself, so I've little input on the matter.

Now Indian food. That's a different story. They are one of the only people who can feed a 'Murricn like myself a dinner course of pure vegetables that I will actually like. That is, assuming I don't run into the "Indian bombshell", a single piece of the dinner so hopped up on Indian spices that it melts holes in your jaw. The waiters know us by name, (via my dad) so they like to mess with us sometimes. Good fun.

I'll take note of that.

Btw, I just played with Bio, the guy who has beaten razer, on this certain day.
He is really good with ZSS and I have to give props to him. We only played twice on wifi, but two matches is good enough.

I was real close to beating him once, so I gotta keep moving.

Successfully ran 1 mile today non-stop. Stretched beforehand too. my legs weren't sore either when i got home. i feel like i'm improving. Going for a 3-mile walk tomorrow.

Now that i can run 1 mile without stopping, i want to improve on how fast i run that 1 mile.

That is all I have right now. I'll play you one day Vinyl. Not sure how the connection between the states and Japan will be though. I wonder if my Kanji name would appear to a NTSC Wii in a match.
