Actually, this stage is also really good for TL, Lucario and Kirby.
Pictochat is kind of a double edged sword for Toon Link. On the plus side, a lot of the transformations help him camp and stall for time. He has a lot of space to run and has a couple of gimmicks in this stage. The transformations help TL randomly get kills since he has trouble getting kills in general.

On the other hand, the fact that TL has to keep on moving and moving means that it's hard for him to stay within the safe zone. TL's game is mostly shorthopping, and if the spikes show up while TL is in the air, or as he is about to jump, he's as good as hit. It sort of forces him to stay grounded, and TL does poorly if he's grounded. TL's best killing moves are vertical killers, and the ceiling in this stage is really high, so getting kills is just that much harder.

TL has better stages.

God darn it from. It was no items, fox only, final destination.

If you're going to make this joke, do it right.

:phone:
Awwww Snap!
...oops... XD

That was the one I'd heard, but then I only heard of it recently.

Links24 told me it was a good TL stage and it was one of his best by far, so ehhh... TL also never seems to die on that stage.

It's realy good if you're lucky and don't die randomly. If you get hit with the other edge of the sword, can't say I didn't tell you so. ;)

If you're going to argue stages you're going to have take into consideration the two different side of things.

The first is the side that adopts a large number of stage choices
The main reasons to have a large number of stages include: variety in stages seen and 'testing' players on more stages.

The second is the side that adopts stages with little to no impact on play
The main reasons include: removing impeding stage elements and focusing on 'player-vs-player' skill without the stage affecting the outcome.

Before taking a solid stance on this you should consider that the vast majority of players are not 'high-level' players - they play more for fun/casual games. It is also these players who want to see a larger number of stages used in tournament matches.

Don't mean to derail or go off-topic in a social thread but...

HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!~

And my work is done.

(btw, since you guys are discussing stages, what is Kirby's best stage would you say? I keep seeing neutrals from Y.b.M. when I play him. what about counterpicks?)

☯ Best Kirby starter stages is Lylat Cruise and Yoshi's Island. His best counter pick stages that's legal currently is Rainbow Cruise, Pictochat, Delfino Plaza, Frigate Orpheon, and Pokemon Stadium. I would count Halberd but there are a handful of characters that Kirby doesn't have much of a chance fighting there, (Mr. Game & Watch, Meta Knight, and Marth), or Brinstar, (Zero Suit Samus, Donkey Kong, and King Dedede). The rest of the stages are either Kirby does average or above average. That's my thoughts.

As long as you're not playing against a character that gets Star KOs (Snake, I'm looking at you) Halberd can be a fun stage.

Yo, I love Picto!! There's quite a select transformations to do your (hmmm... what do you call it?) rumbling grounded stone. Y'know at the left slant of the stages ledge. I'd like to see someone plank with that in there face!

It's actually the right slant, not the left. Also, with that diagonal line, you can get a bthrow -> utilt lock if you're under the line at a certain spot.

Hey all! Kewkky here from inside Recruit Training Camp in Great Lake, IL! I just finished boot camp and will graduate in exactly one week, so after that I'll get sent to my next training school. I'll have internet access there, but I don't know the specifics and I'll definitely need to buy a laptop, so I guess I'll be posting around again soon.

Just so you guys know, boot camp was eeeeeasy as hell. I can't wait to start playing Brawl again though. :(

Anyway, just wanted to give a quick shout-out! I only have 1 hour to check whatever I want, so I'm going to browse around and see how the community's developing during my absence (that includes the Kirby community, of course!). See ya soon, guys!

EDIT: Awww, no one's online... :|

Wow, the board's been dead since I left? Come on guys, this cannot be. D:

Well, like I told Twinkie, I'll be back here regularly to spice things up either next week, 3 weeks from now, or 7 weeks, depending on how long it takes my next military training camp to give me the privileges to buy myself a laptop. I shall come here and force these boards alive!

One question though... When's the new Kirby game coming out? And any Kirby player/other disappointing non-Kirby player live near Great Lakes, Illinois? I'll be there for 9-10 months, so I want to know who is it that I want to hang out with during my free time, and who to ask for rides to tourneys. :D

Seems like the next Kirby game gets pushed like this:
Kirby [GCN] -> Kirby [Wii] -> Kirby [Project Cafe] -> Kirby [Next Nintendo Console] ...

Damn. Well, that sucks. I'll still buy it whenever it comes out. Whenever I get deployed or stationed anywhere (I'll be on a ship most the time, since my job has to do with ships), I'll just plug in my Wii and slip in that CD right there during my free time. :D

Man, after I joined the Navy and heard how it REALLY was to work in the Navy, I got so happy it wasn't just monotonous marching here and there, or deployments to war-torn places around the world like the Army. I can't wait to start working!

Kewkky, are you at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station? If so, you live about 10 minutes away from Kirk (who lives in Waukegan, IL), 50 minutes away from Chicago, and about 40 minutes from the northern/northwestern suburbs (Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Roselle, etc...), and I have no idea where random other people in IL live because I'm not going to Google Maps all of that. LOL!

If you're not there, tell me your address so I can find you. LOL.

You may wanna stop by the IL PR thread (which I'm going to link in this post) and say hi and tell them you'll be here for 9-10 months. I'm sure if you've got free time, someone there may be willing to smash, and the scene's becoming more active.

Also, I myself live in Chicago right now during school, so I'd be up for smash on the weekends (since I haven't played the game in months and need a reason to play. LOL)!

Why, yes I am! I'll have to come back to this post of yours once I graduate from Boot Camp (5 days now!!! FREEDOM HERE I COME), am sent to my next military training camp (which is across the street), and given the priviledge to go out of the base (3-7 weeks). Niiiice, it's nice to know I'm near a competitive scene! *checks that link out*

Thanks a LOT, Kappy!

No prob :) Hope to see you at some tournaments and smashfests once you're able to leave the base! It's lonely being the only Kirby in IL. LOL.

We shall trade secrets and strategies. D:

I'll be traveling around the world a LOT (including JAPAN hell yeah) and for months at a time, so help me improve and I'll put in a good word for the American metagame, if you know what I mean. ;)

I was only gone for 2 months, if that! The Kirby boards don't seem that dead to me either, although there's people missing I'm blaming it on the weekend being a holiday and weekdays being school days. /optimistic

*goes update the tourney results thread, if it isn't updated*

KEWK! You're back! Thank the gods!

And sorry to any who cared, but only sporadic internet access because internet companies are gay and refuse to aknowlege that my address does in fact exist.

Got not-last at a tournament today.

Progress.
Good ****! Progress is the important thing IMO. Who'd you beat/lose to?

Seems like the next Kirby game gets pushed like this:
Kirby [GCN] -> Kirby [Wii] -> Kirby [Project Cafe] -> Kirby Forever ...
Fixed for you. (You could interchange it with Kirby Ghost there too if you want.)

"Kirby Forever"

I'm guessing that's a reference to Duke Nukem. XD
I'm going to LMAFOROFLCOPTER if Nintendo releases a different Kirby platformer for GCN, Wii, and Wii2 simultaneously and say "See, we told you they were coming out."

RATED: Yeah, Twink told me already but I haven't checked it yet. I'll go there eventually, for now I'm just spending my time checking stuff I have responsibilities to. Once I have my freedom and laptop, I'll go and say hi to the PR community.

T!mmy:
Every year for me has been 365 days.
I'd like to say the same about boot camp, but in all honesty, it was easy and time flew by. All of that sergeants yelling in your face and whatever horrors of the military boot camp the media shows is all a lie. We were laughing everyday because our sergeants were hilarious, and I've been eating 10x better than how I was eating at home... AND eating ice cream/cookies/cake/pizza hut/KFC/subway/etc, hell there's even an arcade room right next to where I'm at right now! As long as you follow instructions without questioning anything, everything goes amazing.

A1loin836: I haven't seen the lead you have now... But once I get my freedom and laptop, prepare to see it dwindle into nothingness. D:

6k posts: Hell yeah.

MK26: Not gonna lie, that is pretty much our MUs in a nutshell... But we can still ruin people by not depending on bair and going for grabs/tilts/whatever else instead. ;)
