Holy...crap...that leak dying is actually really big news for a precedent-focused pessimist like me. My mood is now soaring.

The reason I put a lot of stock in it early on was because there were a number of legitimate NeoGAF leakers from back in the day who wouldn't talk about inclusions, but instead just said stuff like "Ridley, Krystal, and Takamaru aren't playable." This mirrored that so heavily, and it's gone now. I feel like singing.

Leaks nowadays are questionable. The only ones that really have any weight to them are the Gemetsu leak and the Palutena leak.
Neither of these leaks really help or hurt King K. Rool.

Wasn't the Palutena leak admitted a fake? Also, what do people think of the RosalinaX leak (forty-eight characters, four cuts)? If we should be worried about any leaks, it's that.

K. Rool would have parallels to Mega Man in that projectiles factor into his playstyle, albeit in different ways; Mega Man is focused almost solely on projectiles, coming across as a middle-of-the-road camper, while K. Rool, at least how I interpret him, comes across as more of a trap-layer, focused on baiting in opponents with a few projectiles before taking them to task physically.

Not sure how I feel about Krown Boomerang being a jab.
I mean, for Mega Man he has a projectile that can be fired in quick succession.
The Krown has to come back to K. Rool and the whole thing would probably take like 5 seconds.
Jabs are supposed to be really simple and quick.
It's an interesting concept, but the Krown is made to be a special.

That leak literally said "The roster currently has 48 characters which is subject to change." Or more accurately, "The roster will have less than 48, exactly 48, or more than 48 characters."

That alone makes me think it's fake. That's such a bad way to describe the size it's not even funny. He's basically saying that so no matter what he's right.

Wouldn't it kinda make sense to note that the character roster isn't dead set and could change? Like there could be cuts to the roster due to time constraints? Plus I've heard he has legitimacy due to his Mario Kart 8 leaks.

I can't really explain, but I have this great feeling about his inclusion.
I have a vision of what he would look like, a trailer all planned out...

It'd be a bit tricky to make work, I agree. I think it contrasts nicely with Mega Man's in that his blaster is a simple, spammable projectile. He can shoot as many or as few particles as he'd like, and can even move forward while doing so. K. Rool, on the other hand, would throw out the crown for maybe a second before it returns (five seconds is, like, multiple Warlock Punches long, so that wouldn't work), setting up a strategic risk-reward scenario where he may either drag in opponents for a follow-up hit or simply make a clown out of himself and get punished.

We're still waiting to find out about RosalinaX's legitimacy with Mario Kart. He said that "inside drifting would return, but tweaked," and from the looks of things, that's unclear from the current gameplay footage available.

When was the leak put out there? March of this year? So over two years into development?

If I remember right, Brawl's roster was finalized in 2005 or 2006. I don't remember myself. So I am pretty sure they had the roster sorted out WAY BEFORE the "4-5 months before the game releases" point.

But I feel like it would take a while for the Krown to get back to you, especially if you decide to move around.
I like the idea quite a bit, but realistically I think a Standard or Side Special makes sense.

It was mostly a joke, especially considering K. Rool's identity disorder.

But it sounds like you want to give K. Rool grappler characteristics, i.e. a character that is designed to punish the opponent if they get too close. Which reminds me of the crocodile analogies I mentioned a long time ago, how a crocodile ambushes it's prey and what not.

I just think K.Rool would be more of a pressure based heavy weight with his own camping speciality. (Wouldn't exactly compete with other campers, but does the job against those that can't camp.)

While I am pretty sure that everyone Sakurai wants in has been added in at this point, it is possible that time constraints may come at a cost of a veteran and it could happen late in time when development needs to be finished up and some loose ends cut. Brawl's "finalized" roster originally included the Forbidden Seven and we didn't see them get in.

My issue is, the roster wasn't having these issues in March when this leak came out. That's WAY too far into development for people to have been unsure of what the roster consists of like 25 months into development.

Actually, that was a fake debunk. The position of Mario's head in the "admitted fake" is vastly different in the leak. Therefore, that leak is still alive.
As for the RosalinaX rumor, I wouldn't emphasize on it too much. I guess we should wait until Mario Kart 8 to see if he is legit.
The Palutena leak, Gamatsu, and RosalinaX leaks are the only ones that matter. People seemed to stop trying after the Direct.
