Being one of, if not the single biggest plate of combo food out there is a crippling balancing factor that seemingly gets minimal attention during the actual balancing of Smash, even though it totally should.
*prays that Bandai-Namco is competent enough to realize this*

Agree on how being a heavyweight would cancel out K. Rool's negatives. It's the opposite extreme of a floaty.

Being reasonably fast and strong does a character no good if the game's many, many lightweights have them trapped in their jabs, or if Sakurai's favorite heavyweight starts D-Throwing them.
I think the infinite jab combos have been phased out of the game, I haven't seen anything about chain grabbing though. Hopefully fatties can stand a chance in this game.

I meant jab as a synonym for hit. If there's any remote amount of hitstun, heavyweights tend to be in a world of hurt if they're snagged by so much as a single attack, and even in a game as campy as Brawl, hit-and-run tactics are still largely effective due to many heavyweights' lack of competent options for countering.

I just want crocodiles to be able to survive in SSB4.
I want crocodiles to thrive in SSB4.

Super armour would definitely be needed, then.

We need a PotD with the Kremlings.... Or K. Rool (with a "CHALLENGER APPROACHING" banner).

Have you guys noticed that Sakurai has not revealed a new DK stage? The only Donkey Kong stage that has been shown off is Jungle Japes, and that's a returning stage on the 3ds. Maybe Sakurai is waiting to reveal a new DK stage because he's waiting to reveal a DK newcomer, possibly a certain crocodile...

Sorry to hear that. I'm also hoping to see the addition of the King but just waiting for E3 now. I'm also hoping Ridley comes with

I've thought that in the past, but we should also keep in mind that we haven't seen new stages for Star Fox, Kirby, or Yoshi; we've also only seen one Metroid and one Fire Emblem stage. As much as I have my fingers crossed for a Gangplank Galleon stage (that does not feature K. Rool as a boss), I wouldn't take this as an indicator yet.

I honestly feel more confident in King K. Rool's chance as a playable character; I still don't necessarily believe he compares to the "necessary" characters such as Ridley and Palutena. However, I believe that Dixie Kong's time was during Tropical Freeze's marketing campaign. Based on its pitiful sales, I am most probably correct. So if Dixie is out; King K. Rool is the only Donkey Kong character worth holding out for, and most speculate that a Donkey Kong representative is long overdue. So I suppose I am on-board to an extent.

I would like to know, tell me, why is K Rool not a necessary character but Palutena is? I would appreciate your input

Would you really like to see something like this coming at you?
(...Put me in for "maybe".)
I guess if it's something like Homer, it goes into more "amusing" territory.
But seeing something like K. Rool charge at me, especially since he does that in the original DKC, it's scary.
I guess like what Viridi said about Hades running after Pit, "it's like watching an elephant sprint". It defies logic in a threatening way.

I put "necessary" in quotation marks because I wasn't using the traditional definition. I was attempting to convey the more practical Smashboards definition; essentially "shoe-in" or "most wanted/speculated/talked about/hinted at" if you know what I mean. I don't believe that the characters are more necessary than King K. Rool; as I stated previously, he is long overdue. I am actually a huge fan of the character, part of me believes that I blatantly disregarded his plausibility as a defense mechanism (I don't want to be disappointed in the event of his non-inclusion).

As far as I'm concerned, K. Rool will show up somewhere considering you can't have Kremlings without K. Rool (as mooks, I mean; don't need examples such as the Mario Strikers games or Mario Power Tennis as counterpoints)
I'm just going to hope it isn't as merely an event for Smash Run like Dyna Blade was for City Trial.

This is a great point. I'd also hope that, if K. Rool were shoehorned into a boss or event role, it'd be on the Wii U, so his model could be copied over and turned into a playable character for Project M on the Wii. I think that's doable with Wii U models, right?

Welcome back. I've missed seeing "Morbid Altruism liked your post in the thread K.Rool and Ridley are Awesome and Everyone else is Gay".

Assuming K. Rool is in, what's the more likely scenario? Him showing up at E3 or him staying as a secret character pre-release?

Looking at those models, it looks as though the Paon models may have been updated. It might just be me, but it looks as though those Kritters' snouts are a bit wider and less 'beak' like than in Sluggers, and they're more hunched-over here to boot.

I'd say E3, given his immense popularity. Besides, if he was unlockable, he couldn't show up in the inevitable "Trouble Kings x3" event match.
I dunno. I think that Pacman is a lock for E3, and Mii if 2 newcomers are revealed.

I agree that Pac-Man is likely, but I'm still clinging to the what little hope I have for Mii's exclusion.

We got three newcomers last year, so you never know. Best case scenario (for me at least) is our king, and the return of Mewtwo.

I'd be more like

But more over K. Rool's absence than the inclusion of Miis or Pac-Man. I don't care one way or the other about them.

I feel like it would be cruel if Sakurai had the Kremlings be a part of the game(other than a trophy), and K. Rool is just absent entirely. It would seem like K. Rool is getting thrown under the bus.

This. I can't see K. Rool not appearing in a bigger role at this point. He's one of the very few characters (leak included) that I would argue has everything going for him at this point; it's really only a matter of whenever or not Sakurai thinks he's a good enough choice to add. I think he has the best chance of any non-leaked/confirmed character (outside of Mewtwo and a retro character), which is why he's one of the very few on my prediction roster that hasn't been leaked/confirmed.

Leaning towards secret character tbh. I'm expecting Mii and Pac-Man to show up as well as Palutena for our next popular character reveal, though if it were anything else, I guess K. Rool would be the most likely.

It's also possible that Salromano leaks one last time shortly before E3 2014 and it would be then where we would know whenever or not he's playable.

There are currently no heavyweight newcomers, and I feel like we'll end up getting two: Palutena and K. Rool.
That boosts my confidence too. There may be some disappointments along the way (no Ridley, for example), but I'm feeling great about King K. Rool.
