I'd like to see the Kremlings return alongside K. Rool, but as long as there's a plot-relevant reason for him to adopt new minions, I'm all for Retro getting creative. How about a new minion army of Kavity Kreeps?

Well Gnawty's I'm not that keen on keeping seeing as they were only in DKC and DK64,they were changed out with the mouse in DKC2 and with the rat in DKC3 .

Zingers and Necky's most defenetly should return they are kinda like shy guys and goombas not related by species to the main villain but loyal non the less.

I also want Krusha, Klump, Klubba and kudgel to return as bosses ore semi bosses.

What struck me as odd about the Tropical Freeze boss, if we consider K. Rool coming back a possibility, is his being hidden in shadow. There seems to be no point to it. K. Rool would've been a great villain to hide away like that and reveal to the players as a surprise. Now it seems as though they can't do that, and it makes me think it may be the exact opposite. I can see him return in a triumphant parade or walking right up to the kongs in a characteristic manner, to pummel them away himself to begin the game. Unless Retro pulls the same trick a second time, which I don't think is in their nature. Either way that is an interesting dynamic to consider for if he is included in the next DKC game.

That could very easily end up being the case, with K. Rool being shown off to hype the masses up before the game's release. Plus, if there are gonna be Kremlings as enemies, why bother hiding the guy who would so obviously be commanding them? Yes, Tiki Tong and Fredrik were underwhelming surprises too, but this would be on a whole different level.

One thing I've been thinking is, now that Fredrik has already modernized K. Rool's classic boss fight attacks, K. Rool would have to take on a whole new set of tactics if he returned. Granted, he probably already would have, since his boss fights were all so diversified from each other, but this just solidifies it IMO. Thoughts?

Would they even do another 3D platformer? I dunno, with how DK 64 got such mixed receptions. I'd kinda like it though, especially if it marked K. Rool's return. He repairs the Blast-O-Matic and DK Kontinent becomes in danger of impending destruction.

The era of (3D) collect-a-thon platformers seems to be behind us. But as an ardent fan of that niche, I would most certainly welcome a (spiritual) successor to DK64.

There was any talk of Camelot doing a sequel to DK64, they showed interest, but it was a while ago, before Returns was ever announced, so it probably can't be taken very seriously. That said, I'd love to see it. There's too much indie lazy "retro" 2D platformers dominating the market for these sorts of games, I miss the era of dominance from Rare and would love to see a return of the collectathon. Undoubtedly made today it'd be watered down significantly in scale.

Regardless of Banjo having the better collectathons, I'd like to see a DK one specifically just because it'd be a good excuse to bring back the larger DK mythos and characters, most obviously the Kremlings. It'd also be an excuse for them to actually use Chunky Kong given it'd be a DK64 homage - poor guy didn't deserve to be thrown into the litter bin with Kiddy.

Returns was released in late 2010. So there's that. I keep hoping for a 3D platformer with DK again. It's certainly not impossible.

As for K. Rool's triumphant return... It's coming, I can feel it. I haven't finished TF yet, so I'm still unsure what goes on there other than amazingness. (NO spoilers, I'm up to World 4.) I'm pretty sure he's just going to be the antagonist of the next DKC game, and many after it, or something, but a 3D game would be so sweeet.

Here here, 3D platformers in my view are the pinnacle of the genre. It's a terrible shame they were abandoned and replaced today by wannabe-retro 2D platformers, what a total step backwards. I'm sure whoever makes a reboot of a DK64 game would take a lot of the good qualities from Banjo-Kazooie anyway, considering how long it has been since the genre was in full swing, they must have a treasure trove of new ideas as well.

A DK64 sequel announced at E3 alongside a K. Rool reveal would basically be the best thing ever.

Anyway, while another 2D platformer may sound good, I doubt that it'll come to pass for a couple more years; this could mean that K. Rool will still be in the dark if he doesn't get the Smash Bros. love.

You guys are going to make me play DK64 again which luckily I still have for my N64, I do agree though, I would'nt mind another DK 3-D platformer, I really enjoyed the last one but then again that's probably because Rare was involved at the time but I'd still be happy playing it if the Kremlings were to be brought back in that way. I love how it was basically all about K. Rool trying to blow up DK Island. His evil Dr. Claw/Darth Vader voice was awesome and chilling.

3. More interesting and varied bonus levels (The simple collect all bananas thing is getting kinda old)
4. More non-playable DKU characters like Candy and Swanky.
5. More unique abilities to each kong

I think my liking towards K. Rool started waaay back when I was watching that Donkey Kong Country cartoon. He was one of my fave characters on the show. I remember whenever the intro came on, there's a part where the Kritters are marching along a wooden platform and I would march around the living room with them. And I must have been around 3 or 4.

The only DK game I played was Donkey Kong 64 (and the arcade/NES games). Still, I'd prefer to see K. Rool before anyone else -- I'd probably have a nostalgiagasm (lol?) if he's playable, and then randomly proceed to sing the DK Country opening... and the various songs K. Rool sings when playing him.

Yeah, they've acknowledged that though. I remember after TF's release there was an interview where they said the one regret they have is they wish they could've done more with Animal Buddies in this one.

Honestly the door is wide open for Squitter, he'd fulfill a niche currently not in the game. I honestly expect him in the third.

I'm going to assume the next one will be around April. Nintendo Directs are our wealth of Newcomer info until E3/release, and those generally happen every other month.
