E3 2014. The whole world is watching for the Zelda Wii U game that has been teased before the conference. Iwata comes out swinging by announcing a new trailer. The Great Sea theme from Wind Waker starts playing, and everyone starts to freak out.

Toon Link is sailing across the Great Sea on the back of the King of the Red Lions and sees an abandoned, beaten-up ship floating in the middle of the ocean. He gets on this spooky ship and starts exploring, but it seems abandoned. Eventually, he heard a grunt from behind him--he turns around to see DK and Diddy tied to the ship's mast, struggling to get free.

Suddenly, there's a burst of evil laughter from behind Toon Link. The kid turns, then gets a shocked and frightened expression of horror on his face. The music shifts to the second phase of Gangplank Galleon, and K. Rool is shown brutally slaughtering every member of the Smash Bros. Cast.

Maybe during a brawl at Donkey Kong Island, K. Rool's ship makes an appearance from a distance. A Kritter spots the island and notifies K. Rool. K. Rool decides to take off on his own, interrupting the battle during the process.

Oh, I got another one. Bowser is attacking Kong Island with his airship while Donkey Kong, Diddy, and Mario are running away. As Bowser is laughing just before he fires another shot, a huge cannon ball suddenly comes out of nowhere and hits his airship making a huge hole and causing it to immediately fall into the ocean. As DK, Diddy, and Mario look at the fallen ship and then eachother wondering happened, the scene zooms in on the ocean revealing a pirate ship with a huge kremling skull sale as it zooms on K. Rool laughing (Name plate shows saying King K. Rool joins the battle), he then fires a bunch of klaptraps from one of his cannons at Mario causing him to flee the scene then jumps out of his ship holding a blunder bust as he looks and smiles at both Diddy and DK. Gameplay footage of K. Rool in SSB4 is shown and then back when it shows K. Rool about to fire his gun, fire comes out of nowhere from behind him, missing him by inches, he turns around and it's Bowser not looking very pleased about him sinking his ship, K. Rool smiles at him and then at the Kongs and then everyone else does at each other basically agreeing to have a 4 out brawl as they all jump at one another as the screen then goes black and shows the ssb for wii u/3ds game title names.

Well, in Tropical Freeze I've reached near the end of World 2 so far. (That Sawmill level is actually really tough. I feel like a moron!)

That said, holy ****ing ****. Why is everything about this game so ****ing amazing? The Snowmads fit in well with the DK universe, and I really like their aesthetic. I really want to see them crossover with the Kremlings at some point, because that sounds like a really hilarious matchup. And...just...David Wise...that man is a GOD. I expected him to make a great comeback to the DKC scene, but I didn't expect this.

The World 1 boss theme totally blew me away, and my expectations. Like, WHAT!?! I can't even...it's so...sweet ****ing Jesus. And the...I guess Snowmad theme that played in the intro? Frickin' badass. Honestly, every bit of music sounds right at home, and every bit David Wisey as anything from DKC 1-3 and especially Diddy Kong Racing. Whoa man. I'm so happy.

If we can have Kremlings in the third game, Retro will have given me everything I ever wanted in a DKC revival trilogy. And I haven't even finished the game yet. (No spoilers at all, please!)

K. Rool alone would be enough for me, I'd love for the kremlings to return as well, but he's the most integral. Of course if they didn't bring back his minion squad, they'd have to find a fantastic replacement for them to make up for it. Snomads are pretty great though, so I'd not be worried about that.

I'd be happy with K. Rool alone, and it could make sense from a plot standpoint that he has lost the support of his Kremlings thanks to his numerous failed plans. However, I think there's so much that could be done with the Kremlings themselves, it would be a missed opportunity to not have them there alongside him, because whatever was there instead, the Kitty Kat Krew or the Parrot Plaque Pack or whatever, couldn't possibly measure up to them.

I did read a great idea on DKVine about how the Kremlings should now expand their ranks to other reptiles in general, such as geckos, gila monsters, komodo dragons, and the like, with the crocodilians serving as the highest-ranked officials. That would be a sight to behold.

This is a really good idea, especially for Retro's current design philosophy. They're all about different shapes and sizes for enemies that feel satisfying to jump on, by including a wider array of creatures they can easily achieve that, and it's no more antithetical to the kremlings than anything that has preceded it in Returns or Tropical Freeze. The kremlings always incorporated other types of villainous animals in their ranks, this would be a perfectly natural progression. If they were to re-use K. Rool I can see this happen.

I'd be happy too with just K. Rool returning as well but I'd still prefer him to return with the rest of his kremling minions. Kritters, Krushas, and Klaptraps are some of my favorite enemies in his crocodilian army. I mean, they've made a whole tribe of statue warriors called the tikis and a whole bunch of antarctic animal called the snomads for the last 2 dkcr games, might as well bring back the classic scales and tails guys.

If they're just common enemies then it's fine. Would welcome them back with the good memories there were to be had with them buggers, but I don't think they should go back to having larger versions of them to pass off as "bosses" like in the 1st DKC and some of the 2nd one. One of the few minor things I felt Rare was kinda lazy with, much as they're praised and missed now.

Oh, and with the way they're going about the series now, I'd be fine if K. Rool was back leading some other horde of enemies besides Kremlings. Would take some getting used to at first, but it'd give him some different flavor at least. Whatever the case would be, I'd just be glad to have him back, Kremling minions or not.
