That reference did come true in the end. Ridley and Master Hand weren't playable but they did appear in the SSE. Although this reference is a lot funnier and more creative, especially the banana crown. Retro made a similar reference at the end of DKCR with a crocodile statue.

Yeah, I do have my doubts since I think the Ganondorf and Ridley clouds are quite a stretch, but fact lies that all the envisioned characters did appear under the Subspace flag in the Adventure Mode, so yeah.

Well, I wouldn't take this too far as to say this automatically confirms K. Rool. It's just a rock formation, after all.

However, it is important to note that they are, in fact, referencing him. The rock on it's own doesn't mean much, but we can guess going off of this that they aren't entirely rejecting K. Rool. They're willing to put some form of acknowledgement of in the game. Perhaps they have plans to use him in future games, even.

So as a result of that, it may be that this increases the chances that they wouldn't mind allowing K. Rool to appear in Smash. Maybe that's actually what they want...

I always considered it was hilariously dumb until I actually thought about it for a second just then when I posted it, and realized it actually wasn't far off at all. The fact that fans obsess over the tiniest details like the formation of clouds I think is why Sakurai's so meticulous about what is revealed.

Yeah, it's a stretch. The first one is most certainly K. Rool though. These sightings do not mean he is in Smash, but that Retro does still acknowledge K. Rool and the Kremlings. I am still hoping that we see them return in the sequel to Tropical Freeze.

The subtitles and numbering of these games has always bugged me. You can't call it DKCR3, as DKCR was DKC: Returns. But no one calls them DKC4-6.

I saw another anti-K. Rool topic at GameFAQs, and I had to run back here to escape the dumb. I didn't know that people were still using the "Bowser without a shell" argument. The anti-K. Rool and anti-Ridley arguments are so ridiculous over there that I need a place of solitude to return to.

Besides, technically it would be impossible by default for K. Rool to copy every move Bowser has due to the factor that K. Rool lacks a shell. This means no up smash, down smash, back aerial, down aerial, up throw, or Whirling Fortress. I'd more so compare K. Rool to King Dedede, with the factor of using a combination of a large weapon (albeit different types of weapons) and physical attacks.

To be blunt, it seems the only reason these logically-defunct arguments are still maintained by a few detractors is simply because of they are an easily-accessible manner in which to spread misinformation about K. Rool, and thus either convince the like-minded with confirmation bias, or instill enough negativity with the neutral-minded to remain neutral.

As long the detractors continuously make these erroneous judgments on K. Rool's chances with smoke-and-mirrors illusions, they will attempt to deceive the masses as to thinking K. Rool has more detrimental aspects about him than he actually does.

I'd like to say that, after some deep thinking in the middle of biology (it's better than doodling Pac-Man comics all over my homework), that King K. Rool is my most wanted newcomer. I mean, my first REAL game was Donkey Kong Country 3, and it started my obsession with Nintendo. You'd think that Dixie would stick with me better, but I was a young boy, and I didn't sympathize with a girl character or her bratty cousin. I've always loved the villains, and K. Rool was one of the coolest. Those burping noises, his constant change in clothing that could make Bugs Bunny jealous, his great music, he's more than a boss who's there for the sake of a boss (Tiki Tong...) and is truly a Nintendo all-star. I feel K. Rool is the most worthy, with moveset potential, humor everywhere, and so deserving of a return...

I didn't grow up in the "best generation" for video games, I didn't even REALLY get into video games to the point of being a "gamer" until sometime around 2010, when I got Brawl. But I had my GBA for car trips around 2005. Only a few games in my pack: Nicktoons Unite, and Donkey Kong Country 3. And I go to school now, and I see other kids, pulling out their phones. And I noticed something: They all had SNES and GBA emulators on their iPhones. And, by far, the most popular game on it, besides Pokemon (because that's in a league of it's own)? Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2. Over Super Mario World. Over Link to the Past. Over Super Metroid. Over Super Star. Over Mega Man X. It's Donkey Kong. People are expressing this love for the series, and then realize that the King has disappeared. And they want him back. BADLY. I can't even really express this as well as I feel, but King K. Rool is really a representative of old-school gaming, and now he's slowly rising back into popularity, not only for Smash Bros., but in other areas as well, from an equal amount of Super Nintendo kids, and Wii kids. I'm trying my best to get Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 for my GBA, just to see that scaly icon again.

Also, made this on my trip to Chicago after I saw Diddy's reveal. Thought you might like it, I based it off his Rareware design mostly, with some elements of Paon in there. The foot's a bit messed up, but otherwise I'm proud of it.

Using what's left of his wife's spare pots and pans, K. Rool makes a makeshift shell to emulate Bowser.
