dawson was able to ice block me cross stage after a QAC and then proceed to dash grab me during the RCO frames. It was impressive.

I asked some people for help with IC dittos. There seems to be a lot of them lurking in people's pockets.

Edit: So be a **** to not be a **** or not be a **** to be a ****

My only option Landon.

^ Round robin allows for more matches and are more accurate than bracket.

Bracket pools are good for large tournaments where time is an issue but we really want to give everyone bang for their buck regarding their entry fee.

You guys need to grow up.

This thread was always more interesting without the trolling.

I would suggest to have a Smashfest/do something fun this week but nobody will actually come.

But doesn't that cause you to 'rely on others' should you ever lose a game?

And isn't that in your opinion 100% reason to never run or support it?

You guys need to grow up.

No offence, but you should probably realize that what you're doing, does nothing.

We should do bracket pools because BC Brawlers are anti-social. If you want the most out of their money, you'll have to muster up the courage to ask somebody to play with you.

It will also leave people open for newbies to play with.

I'm 100% for bracket pools.

And to our exalted hosts, PLEASE ensure the fact that the Brawl and Melee communities are not together is crystal clear with the venue staff immediately. This is because I don't want to lose the venue on account of foolish behaviour that wasn't even caused by us. It's totally ridiculous and it's not even the first time the Melee people were nearly banned from the venue.

Do you guys REALLY want to go back to Home Video? (It means 2hr+ bus rides for many of us, one way of course.)

Do you guys really want to have to compete with Yugioh cards players which will probably reduce our events to bimonthlies?

Do you guys want the next Phoenix event to be at Home Video or at that office building in Maple Ridge?

I don't even think Sue likes us. I also do not feel comfortable entering Home Video, and I will (seriously) quit Brawl if we're left with no choice but to use Home Video as the venue. I really hope that if we do get banned from Stronghold, we can find another good venue.

Oh, and remember when I used to complain about litter ALL the time? Yeah, now the venue staff are on the verge of banning all Smash Brothers players partly due to litter.

I love you all BC Brawl<3 If there's any time that you should take my advice, please let this be the time. :peach:

Postscript
Yes, I worried even at this ungodly hour and felt the need to post this.

Please take a look at this and this.

Chill out, kevin. No one is getting banned.

They are only being firm with us now, since some players have abused their kindness and taken the venue for granted. They will not ban smashers from the venue as we make the them a good portion of money and encourage people to come to stronghold. We are free advertising, and we make money for them without them having to do next to anything. They just want to be strict and start enforcing their rules from now on.

I took on the mission to try to weave the brawl and melee communities together, and I don't want that to fall apart because of a simple misunderstanding. Stronghold staff don't care whether or not the brawl/ melee communities are together or not. They simply said they would ban smashers from the hold if garbage isn't thrown away to make a point for everyone to be mindful of what they leave behind.
I'm sorry on behalf of the Melee community that you guys had to be grouped in the drama even if you guys are innocent, but the message stronghold is sending out is that they don't want anyone, regardless of what game they play, to leave trash behind. Don't be too frightened of the threat of a ban, though- otherwise, they honestly would have banned us all by now.

Once again, sorry on behalf of the Melee community for the mishap and the drama that this incident has caused. Please rest-assured that no one is getting banned, but be reminded to throw out all garbage and do a full clean up after any events to prevent any further complaints! I know you guys didn't do anything, but let it be a lesson so that something like this never happens again ^_^.

Trust me when I say the Melee community feels the exact same way as you do, and players have even voiced out that they would quit if we were to lose our amazing venue- that's saying something.
We WILL NOT lose stronghold! Relax! :)

That and they give new players fewer matches than round robin pools would, not more. They're used at really large tournaments to save time.

Stealing alcohol sounds pretty serious to me. =/ I haven't been around lately, but I don't recall hearing any complaints after they trusted the Brawl community to use their staff room for Phoenix 7, and I really hope stuff like that will keep the communities separate enough in their eyes.

One because it's different. Two I think it leaves more time for friendlies. Newer/shy players usually keep quiet about asking others for friendlies but if we finish early that leaves tons of time for people to open up and play everybody.

Kevin, you always seem to suggest things simply because they're different from what we're currently doing. We always have a lot of time for friendlies at monthlies, and cutting new players down to 2 tournament sets isn't going to do them much good. Playing more people in tournament will get those shy players talking to more people, which will only help them start to feel more comfortable asking for friendlies.

Well I hope you're right. Only two people have asked me for friendlies like in the past 5-6 months.

also a thought: you're describing a smashfest

i absolutely would recommend that new players come to a smashfest over a tournament if they could only do one.

however, i know you (and i) prefer the more casual setting, but you need to recognize that some people want tournament days to... actually be about the tournament. keep the two separate.

I'm aware we'll stick with round robin pools, but for the sake of argument; I don't think bracket pools save time. We'd have to do WF, LF, and GF for each pool, instead of everyone just doing a 2/3 set with one another. I think a bracket would take longer.

Also, I feel like everyone would end up playing each other regardless if they're forced to for tournament reasons.

Jake is definitely dropping Yoshi
If we have a low turnout, I would actually recommend a triple elimination bracket. I've been saying it partially as a joke in the past, but it actually does work, and people who get eliminated early in a double elimination bracket still have games left to play, and can raise their placement from it too. edit: also, no pools are needed.

Also, very late response, but for my old gen > new gen post, I missed several people because I was dead tired, just worked a long day at work, etc. Landon I did initially have in "mid gen", but removed that gen and meant to put him in old gen, but completely forgot about that and accidentally left him off. Islanders I forgot to mention include Caiden and Nic (and the other Vic people, don't know if I mentioned Max or Eric).

But who's this Jason guy you are referring to Dawson? Have I met him before? Can't be that good if I can't remember him... (lol jk I forgot him due to being tired).

And anyone else I forgot (including Kev) was because I was tired, and just wanted to finish the post and sleep. So just take that post as a "examples of old gen people, examples of new gen people" post.

And that post was intended to be "old gen at their prime" vs "new gen at their prime". Obviously if Brian and Clouderz shows up now, they won't place as well, but if they played as they did back then, they'd dominate. Not even DDD could stop old gen from winning (back in old gen, DDD was not invincible, and due to the time difference, his invincibility is unstable, thus making him beatable).

I'd win because I'm the hero BC deserves but not the one it needs right now.

As much as I'd like to debate Superman vs Goku(me), I'm not going to debate this further especially since those who I am being compared to may not wish to be involved and have someone else speaking on their behalf. In other words if I'm going to trash talk I'll trash talk to their face as opposed to behind their backs. Even though we all know I would win because I'm a hero.
