^Probably won't have time to watch it but I think it's great that you're using Smash events to help out charities! 加油!

First off, apologies to Sam because my phone was on silent and I left it on Dawson's bed so that's why I didn't answer your calls after.

Today's smashfest was great. Thanks again Dawson for hosting! (and lol @ his pocket Zelda beating Jake's Yoshi<3)

Note to all of you: make sure... you don't overfeed Jake... ever! Seriously, I've never seen anything like it in my life.

[COLLAPSE="Don't you wish you were there!?"]

[COLLAPSE="Lol @ Crisis actually eating this"]

Nah... but Jake apparently ate a lot of food to the point where things got really strange. Dawson's Zelda beating Jake's Yoshi is hands down the highlight of the smashfest though. :)

T-block if you ever come to Van again, let's have lunch or something :)

4 people with one tv is hard, especially in such a small room. We were practically sitting on each other's lap. Especially since we're all tall people.

Seth isn't Basil... It was Bryan's childhood imaginary friend.

Which is strange because Bryan is my imaginary friend.

Does anyone want to smash today? I'd like to play teams if possible.

I just realized that Thanksgiving is in October here lol.

I think because it is Thanksgiving, people are busy with other plans today.

If you want a smashfest, I really suggest you plan them days in advance rather than asking on the day you want the smashfest to be on because it's likely most of us have other plans set already.

I'm not trying to organize anything. What I meant was that if anyone wanted to/was planning on playing sometime today, I would be happy to join them. If not, that's fine as well.

I'm 20 years old and i can't get a better job than at a fast food place; it's the only place that will hire a high school graduate. i'm socially awkward, and my only co-worker hates me. i'd complain, but my boss only cares about money. i'd leave, but i can't pass my drivers test, or any test i've ever taken. i'm in love with one of my only friends. she's a smart, athletic, gorgeous southern belle. but, i'm stuck in the friend zone. my only other friend is this guy, who i'm pretty sure only talks to me, because he's mentally ********. and to top it off, i live in a pineapple under the sea.
Read this thinking it was about you. Actually scared me.

@Kantrip: I got dthrow chained, but I mashed.

Boy did I mash.

I just realized why its so damn hard for me to get better at brawl.

Nothing goes through my head when i play, except for the occasional thing. The main thing thats said about me is I should not be so predictable.

How the hell do I not be predictable when I don't even think about what im doing...

Why do I have to live in an area where I can never play locally...

Yeah I know what you mean. I go into that "auto-pilot" mode all the time, where I just start randomly tossing bananas and doing the most predictable things.

Something Jake told me that some other Yoshi told him is to talk quietly to yourself as you play. Just saying simple things that keep your mind on the game and the match-up, so you won't throw out predictable moves or fall into expected attacks.

I find you're more prone to go into auto-pilot if you're facing computers or opponents who aren't at a competitive level (I'm talking like kirby rock spammers and falcon's who like to approach with falcon punch... every time here). The more practice I got at the monthlies, the more I thought about the match at hand.

No, I automatically auto-pilot. I don't fall into expected attacks, and on wifi im constantly hating on myself because i can't react to my opponent, which is apparently something pretty big in my gameplay, as I'm a lot better offline.

I'll try that, though. Thanks.

i dont think you need to play against other people to be good at brawl(or melee)

Everything that i know with Olimar and mK i learned it by myself playing against the CPU.

in my opinion, if you wanna be good at brawl, think while you play.(unless you like to play gay cus that doesn't require intelligence )

Half the brawl game is about reading your opponent. You gotta have them reads down pat.
If you know they're gonna spot dodge then pitotgrab, or wait that extra second.
If you know they're about to get up attack, use a certain move, jump/roll/drop down from the edge or anything else you gotta adjust and read the move.
You gotta know their character as much as you know your own, thats why you need practice against humans, they approach properly, and you can learn common timings for things like airdodges.

Hey I can totally relate. I was actually just talking to Rob about how I don't feel like I'm getting better at all but I guess keep at it and something will click eventually. Sucks that my characters are so limited as well. =/

Arcansi, you just have to practice. I got decent by playing wifi and cpus, looking at other marios play, reading mario boards, you just have to practice.

Being predictable is about being creative.

1. I don't need to get decent, my pit boards are horrible (only five matchups done....) I also definitely dont need to emulate your skill level, no offence.

Who do you play? Shielda? Shielda has great options. Also, if you could land lightning kick even 50% of the time I don't think anyone would be able to punish.

Lightning kicks don't land very easily and even when you do, there's a high chance of it being shielded. Whoever decided Lightning kicks need a little "stun" after landing it (on shield too) is stupid although it is pretty lol if you get that item that slows down time. They got the kicks right in Melee. :x

Jake is definitely dropping Yoshi
A local melee Zelda main here hates brawl Zelda because... well, melee Zelda is funner. And all brawl Zelda's hitboxes are messed up, and the lag on everything is awful. He is a GaW main in brawl.

inb4 someone saying that this is me
