The best way to deal with plauteu is probably to take an extensive break from the game and then get back into, it allows your brain to gain insight and also helps you encompassed everything you've learned up until the break. I'd say about 2-3 weeks without playing and you should be good.
Agreed.. I always take 2-3 week breaks like this with everything I do, then after a few days of getting back into it I'm already better than I was.

I would like to play everyday, but school just doesn't allow for it. One of these days maybe I'll get to play more and seriously get good.

Spidey I still think you should visit me. And now I wanna visit Dorsey/Ace...I was told I'd have a private apartment on the beach with an amazing ocean view or something like that :)

amazing ocean view lol :) More like an bird's eye view of ganon's fist. but yeah, it's right on a creek that eventually leads to the ocean :>

@ kage -- 2-3 week breaks I meant like... playing/practicing a lot for months at a time, and when you kinda get over it just take a good break. Seems to help my learning curve/dexterity in games, guitar, etc.

dorsey couldn't handle h!ghchr!s lol.

jk bro. you the man.

kage, i wish you would lightshield edgehog some. it seems like there are mad times where he's forced to up b, and you get nothing out of it cause you weren't on the ledge, and you didn't force yourself there by using it.

I don't know if I am finding niche things or not. But has anyone noticed how bizarre Ganon is? Some things just 'click' with him. I noticed two silly things. Edge-canceled related. Fountain of dreams he can ledge jump and slam the stick toward the stage and edge-cancel any aerial on the platform. Assuming it isn't sinking into the bottom.

Also, you can perfect waveland the first level of platforms near the edges and FF any aerial and have it cancel on the ledge. Good for pressuring the ledge with bair mainly, but you can throw out a uair right after, or grab. perfect wavelanding toward the ledge will just cancel the attack so long as you don't slam the stick anywhere but down the frame after you leave the platform.

Not that any of this is particularly useful--but I always find it weird how some of his inputs are so clean.

Also, I did notice you let him get back a lot. But, you were baiting him onto the stage a lot so you could punish with dair.

kage, 5:11 was an ingenious bait. the fact that you also used side-b to step back and dodge marth's grab was smart.

btw, does anyone use ganon's grunt grab? as in pressing A right before grabbing while dashing. it seems like it gives a substantial amount of boost to the distance that ganon covers while dash grabbing.

That's boost grabbing, BF. You do a dash-attack and cancel it with grab. Sheik does it a lot. Doc also yells "woo-hoo!" when he does it but Mario doesn't.

oh, so that's the term...

but i'm pretty sure that mario makes a loud noise when he boost grabs. Mario yells "woo-hoo!!" and "waaah!!!" way louder than Doc that you can hear it from a mile away. i know cuz i play mario dittos with the guys and we always boost grab.

btw, ganon's boost grab is amazing. by combining boost grab with perfect waveland, ganon can get amazing grabs!!!

in the bracket, i beat JMH 2-1, carter a GA ganon, 2-0, emma watsons bf 2-1, and sneak 2-1. i lost to yay in winners, and l0zr in losers. I didn't beat anyone notable in the pools, which were for seeding, and in those i lost to emma watsons bf, druggedfox, and josh. my set with josh was very close, in fact i ended up ragequitting before i actually lost. i got a dropzone wizard foot for the match i won in my pools set with EWBF lol.

the set with sneak is definitely one to see. i played out of my mind that whole time.

...it was stacked...for me to get fourth in my pool and then get 9th...i mean it was stacked and it wasn't at the same time...

PP, druggedfox, twitch, yay, lozr/ali was top 5 in that order. idk where other people mighta placed, but of course there was josh, karn, theo, and cam in there, and a lot of other decent competition as well, like sneak, EWBF, bden, slasher king, and JMH. I'm very pleased with my play.

edit: a ton of people didn't come though, which makes me sad. graduation/prom season is a tough time to try to host a regional haha

my set vs yay was sooo full of lols. it was yoshi's twice, and he got saved at least twice the last match. randall definitely knew where that guy would be haha. I need to learn the timer timings for that guy. yay definitely knew it was going down the second time. i was clueless haha.

Randall spends 5 seconds on the left, 5 seconds behind the stage, and 5 seconds on the right.

I bet your set with yay wasn't as lolsy as mine with him from 2 years ago haha, should still be on youtube, he only went falcon once (2nd match) and it was yoshi's too.

yeah...but sometimes it seems like i'm either covering randall or i'm covering the edge. once i know the randall timings, i'll have a better idea of knowing that he's about to come out and save him. it's just always weird to edgehog someone as randall pops out. cuz you're rolling off the edge, and they're just standing there, and then they're forced onto the ledge, and it's just awkward for everyone involved...unless you're yay and you know you're bout to get saved lol.

i'll figure out my own answers though. i'm not worried about it. it's just another silly thing to think about sometimes.

in other news, waveland ftilt is definitely a great approach against unsuspecting foxes. can't wait for my set vs ryan to be uploadeddddd

Have you guys ever encountered a certain hitbox from the first hit of U-Smash send the opponent on a downward angle like a star rod? Something like 340 degrees.

That hitbox is the best hitbox in the game, yup. It doesn't make sense, but I feel so happy when it hits.

Is there a good way to practice tech chasing when you're playing alone, or do you just have to play people all the time? :p

i found a really nice way to edge guard ganon with ganon (it may work vs some others but i havent tested it)

also excuse me if people already do this

you do the reverse up air tipman spike when they try to sweet spot upB and then wavedash off reverse up air again

you can not fail this if you try, and works every time

Not quite as well, but yeah. You can certainly practice spacing around get-up attacks perfectly against a lvl 9 CPU.. which can be very crucial(beinig able to bait ppl's getup attacks / just barely spacing around it for the punishment... really simple yet affective ex: waveland to stomp) and you can lower down the cpu level for some less realistic rolls :)

mentally, I'd position myself in which I can cover two tech options that he's thinking about. At this point, usually the slightest indication that you're going to cover 1 option over the other, will get him to act / do the other. why the simple positioning in the beginning is so crucial.. positioning yourself right at a margin of covering multiple tech options, so you can actually get him to make a decision that you see coming / tech the way that you want to.

basic stuff, thought i'd throw it in there though.

sveet i think they can sometimes recover if they were at low enough damage...but if you hit them again they die for sure

but yes it is flashy

i mean instead of the first uair, they are going for the sweetspot.

but at low percents i would try to bair to get them away from the stage and then dair them asap.

uair->uair is too powerful for me to perform.

dorsey is definitely right. one cool thing to practice is full wavelands from a shorthop. i get a lot of my techchases by short hopping in front of an opponent that's on the ground, and when they roll through me, assuming i'll aerial, i waveland back and grab them. i feel like if your wavelands and reaction time is good enough, and they choose an option during that time, all options can be covered.

sveet that requires you to have reaction time which i don't have lol

you just double jump to cover their sweetspot and if they up B early you start the up air right when you see it and then fastfall and it's np...then wavedash off up air again

some people tech/ meteor cancel the dair so its not 100% reliable

(this is matt) i stole this from tom lol

I aspire to be like kage. Last time he posted about dair he said something like "most people say they can meteor cancel but i dair them and they die or don't make it far enough up. And if they do, i just dair them again."
