This is an equally noob question but:

The last time I read this thread I recall seeing a section in the tutorial about how to jump up from the ledge and egg roll without bouncing.

For some reason - whether I'm bad at navigating or whether it's been removed through the project's updating of the tutorial - I can't find it.

Has it been removed as it's been deemed to not be of any use or is it something that's happened accidentally? I always saw the idea of ledge recovering and then egg rolling without the bounce to be a good form of mixing up Yoshi's recovery... especially if the opponent doesn't expect it.

I don't know if it's there, but it exists.

You do it by ledge jumping then egg rolling away from the stage then back towards it. You can also do that on stage, too, and you instantly accelerate to top speed and maximum priority

ummm, i don't know how to buffer, is there a video or something, that would help a lot
I explained it to the best of my ability's in the guide idk about a vid

tbh i dont know how much a vid would help it isn't really something you can look at unless you know what it is already.

You almost certainly know how to do it already, just without knowing precisely how it works. As is pretty much said in the guide, it's just inputting the command for a move shortly before the one you're currently using ends, so that the move comes out at the first frame possible. It exists in at least most fighting games, and you're given a relatively exceptional amount of time to do it in Brawl, since it was tailored to cater more to casual gamers. Pretty much anytime you accidentally aerial/special yourself into the abyss just after being hit by an attack, it was due to buffering. You'll notice this happens a lot less in Melee if you've played it, because you were given a lot less time for it (I'm told buffering applies to the last 10 uninterruptable frames of a move in Brawl, whereas it was 2 in Melee...I haven't verified this myself, but the difference is clearly stark if you try playing Melee).

Other than that, um...I don't know where the "buffering only applies to dashing in Smash" came from, because that's not the case. =/ It's any command, like in any fighting game.

Additionally: hi P_wii. :D

Well yes there is buffering out of dashing but what I am specifically talking about has to do dashing and i didn't want to confuse everyone. Also most important buffering has to do with dashing

Yeah, and Yoshi's head becomes slimmer during his up-smash. o_O

Also, I never knew that Yoshi produced lightning when doing a Yoshi Bomb. XD

Yoshi's biological structure is obviously partially composed of rubber. Great pics, I didn't get to see the Fsmash one though =(

All the image are now correct. It was a problem with imageshack. I did nothing and is now all right. I forgot to take a snap of dash attack. I will make it soon.

yknow, i think we should have each move linked to metatitan's thread where we discussed it, or have the main moveset discussion thread link at the beginning of the moveset section in this thread. it'd help organize things a little more around here. =D

I have some problems with the off edge release options on Snake. The fair spike can't make contact with Snake when he jumps if you simply do a short hop. Additionally, it seems Snake can jump and then air dodge before the windup for the fair finishes, so he goes back to the stage (although, you can the get it an upair right afterwards). Furthermore, Snake can nair, preventing you from hitting with fair.

As for the dair spike, between Snake's jump momentum and air dodge, it doesn't seem possible to hit him with dair, or at least it is far from a guaranteed hit (and much less a spike).

It is possible I'm missing something, but from playing on training mode with my roommate, I can't find any errors to my reasoning. If anyone can dispute this with evidence (frame data on Snake's release and video of spike on Snake attempting to dodge) I'd appreciate it.

I'm hoping that there is some form of guaranteed spike, but I just don't see it.

I doubt the spike was ever guaranteed. It's more of a "tech chase" sort of thing, just that this one has many more options than your typical one. It puts Snake in a bad spot, however.

Anyone who's less lazy than I want to calculate/test things, please give a more concrete answer. @_@

holy crap Yo'ster's posting in the yoshi section again lol.

Stuff that lil'b wrote that I did a poor job of looking over, I guess. It is, as delta said, more of a tech-chase type of idea, if you read him right, then you can do something, otherwise he gets back.
