Extreme hog isnt going to win you tournaments

Knowing the frame data on every single move by heart will not help you as much as you think.

Looking for ATs that dont exist is wasting your time.

Playing wifi as Lucario will probably only hurt you(this is due to the fact that lucarios best options online are easily exploitable offline)

Talking about furries all day on the Lucario boards will just make everyone who isnt a furry hate you.
Edit: ok not everyone will hate you lol

If you are looking to become a better lucario, you first need to become a better player. Go back to the basics. You'd be surprised on how much basic things work out for you. All I do is try and play fast but I also know what im doing so it works. If you are a slow player, then work on your speed, If you dont know how to punish, read up on your best options and apply them when you play next time. If you go into a match thinking you are going to lose, you are going to lose. Sometimes, slow down and think about your situation. Instead of just playing blind, watch your opponents movements and read their habits.

plain and simple. I just wanted to create a thread for the first time.

its hard to work on your speed if you got no one to play with.

this should all be self explanatory and most of the stuff past spoiler text could be applied to all characters.

That being said, everyone needs to be reminded sometimes.

other general stuff:
playing better people is better then playing those around or below your level.

wifi is good for learning the basics but beyond that is hit or miss.

yes, Im pretty much reminding everybody not to be sidetracked from how simple it is to work on your game.

Training mode can help your speed. I usually play around in their so I dont become rusty because I usually only play on friday and saturday.

It's kind of hard to listen to the furry hate of a guy who has a signature with a underage girl dry humping a guy in a bearsuit.

Let the furries have their fun.

If you are a slow player,
Thats actually the reason i use DDD. He moves at a pace that keeps in rhyme with how i think if that makes any sense.

However when I get on Lucy, I still keep this same mental rhythmic pace in just about everything i do. It surprisingly works for me.

I'm kind of to blame, I wanted at least some enthusiasm in these boards since they seem to do nothing, so I looked for some new things.

Also, this Ninjalink thing is pretty useful, Ksizzle approves (at least I think he did) :D

Here's the problem...

Lucario is a non-technical character in a relatively non-technical game.

You'll find more ATs in the Diddy, ICs, and Peach sections.

I agree with Zucco 100%.

Lucario mains seem to keep looking for a magic formula that's going to revolutionize Lucario's metagame. That or have spam fests in the LGD further making this character board useless... >.O Anywho, Lucario is pretty much tapped for most ATs and gimmicks that are useful and the only real advancements are going to come from you as a player.

TL;DR

Man up and get better.

Please do not tell me you said this because of what I do at the end of this Video.....

Why does TX do this to me the Lucario Boards!?

Anyways, I'm working on my defensive game right now. I play too offensively at times.

Trela I learned a lot about offensive Lucario's when I was in texas after watching you and Lee play. I play very defensively personally and it gets me in trouble quite often because I don't capitalize enough. I punish but not to the extent I could. Also as Zucco said speed is important and I don't play as fast as I could and I know that. I have been working quite hard on it and I'm excited to see what I learned at my next tournament on the 24th =D. Offense is good, but the difference is picking your shots. Set up defensive walls until you get your opening then go offense crazy and you will **** people.

Your offense and speed is top notch for sure.

The problem imo fonz is who you play a lot. You do a lot against AlphaZealot and MKs, which imo are a very slow-paced and patient matches for Lucario. Some chars you do want to get faster and apply more pressure (aka act relatively more "offensive", still want to be patient in some areas though as always lol), like Falco, Snake, etc.

Happens to me a lot too, I think I can charge in and combo characters since I fight bowser and DDD a lot lol

Trela, you're doing good, the only thing I would say...is just play it slow sometimes. Like, you run into attacks or get hit by stuff you wouldn't normally get hit by if you just pause for a moment. Just take a moment and think. And STOP ROLLING.

As far as playing super defensive, Lucario will never win with that route either, because Lucario is not good at camping compared to other characters. No, Lucario cannot outcamp Snake. If you're outcamping the Snake, then he doesn't know how to play the matchup...or know how to play Snake in general. I'm not saying you can't play defensive. But as far as outright camping and throwing slow-moving AS in attempts of making your opponent approach you...it rarely works unless your opponent has no projectile.

It's all about making quick but smart choices and also being flexible. And sometimes, it's just good to go with your instinct. Don't let yourself get caught up on something that happens during a match, like tripping. If you keep focusing on the small things, you'll mess up your own concentration and start making additional mistakes. Whatever happens, happens...just accept it and move on.

And in all seriousness, do learn to take risks on occasion. I'm not saying go nuts and try to edgeguard a MK at 0%, but like, if you and your opponent are at relatively high percents, try going for a Force Palm grab. It sounds insane, but sometimes you just have to go for it because it can catch your opponent offguard.

Let's all face the truth: Lucario is overall average. Beyond Aura, he really has nothing special. His ATs are...minimal at best. His speed is average, his movement is pretty average. His grab range is pretty average. His matchups against top tiers are mostly disadvantaged but not impossible. He doesn't have any matchups in which he is a hard counter. He's...just so average, lol. But being average is not bad. It just means Lucario isn't special.
