How much of a nerd do you think you look like/are?

Disclaimer: When I use the word 'nerd' or 'geek', it's not in a judgmental sense at all. Someone can be a huge nerd and I can still think they're cool or have respect for them. So understand that's not what I mean.


Continuing: How big of a nerd do you think you look like or are? I've seen a few of the great players who either look or talk like huge nerds (whether or not they are in reality I have no idea) and wanted to know what you think: Do you perceive yourself as a nerd? Do you think you only look like one or do you have you come to terms with it? What do you think?

I personally don't think of myself as a nerd. Most people don't draw that conclusion from meeting me, however in the stereotypical sense my interests definitely make me a nerd: I love smash, of course, I used to play Magic and I love D&D as well as other Pencil and Paper RPGs.

At the same time I also practice martial arts and have extensive interests in other things. From the outside, and even from what people know of me mostly, I'm not really a nerd. Then again I'm not great at smash, either.


But what do you think? Do you think of yourself as a nerd? Do you people treat you like one or what?

I wouldn't say I look like a nerd at all, and wouldn't really call myself one either. I love video games, am starting to learn to program, I'm always on the computer, and I can have "nerdy" conversations with people about certain things such as pokemon, smash, etc., but I don't think I come across as a nerd to anyone.

Well, by looks, it's debatable for me...it depends on what I'm wearing...long hair in a ponytail with a gamer shirt tends to come off as a little nerdy, but long hair with a different shirt, not so much...

As for interests, yes...I'm a Smash nerd...I may not know as much about it as other people, but I do know a respectable amount...but there is a very special person I'd give that up for...

i dont really think i look like a nerd at all. but i am probably a little nerdy. i love video games , im on the computer a lot, im in band and play trombone. lol. and i do pretty good in school and take honors classes.

but also im a cheerleader at my school, i know it sounds kinda gay. have dated two of the girls on the cheerleading team. im also in a band and play guitar,we play shows around our state and we sound like emarosa/dance.gavin.dance/a.skylit.drive.

so im probably 50/50.

I guess I look semi nerdy, then you get to know me and have confirmation. I play smash, GGAC, I know GML pretty well and am starting to teach myself C++, I'm in all honors and AP classes, I like to draw, write, and have intelligent debate (very hard to come by).

I also don't watch TV and spend most of my time in a cycle between video games, computer, and art.

I'm really skinny/underweight, but I don't look super geeky. Usually the first thing people ask me is if I smoke weed. I guess the long hair doesn't really help that.
Plus people usually tell me that I look sketchy when I walk around. xD

I look hella nerdy if I ever wear glasses. I just deal with the blurry vision. I'm at the point where putting them on feels strange. o.o

I wouldn't really consider myself a nerd, but that might just be high self-esteem I don't really look the part of a nerd, but there are some awkward moments when I overuse a smash-related term. If something's really good or I respect it, I might call it "top-tier" or "top-tier ____"... other than that, I try to save the "nerdiness" for my SSB-oriented friends

Well I go to a science and technology high school (Thomas Jefferson), do magic, solve rubiks cubes, play SSB, and use my computer a lot. I even wear glasses.

nope, I certainly don't look nerdy, but don't take me apperance the wrong way, when it comes to gaming such as Melee, especailly RPG's which I would say get "super nerdout" I get so techinal with maps, items, strategies etc.. that it's not even funny, at times even my friends won't recognize this "hidden nerd" that rests within me, even so I am proud of it.

Im only nerdy about liek a kajillion things.
I wouldnt say I look nerdy (No pimples, not over weight,doesnt have glasses) but I can be a HUGE nerd about some things (Smash,Fire Emblem,Disgaea,Pokemon,Touhou,Earthbound,Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann,Higurashi no Naku Koro No...you get the point)

When I do something, i have a strong habit of going all or nothing. As a result, nobody really has any bias against me since i have things strongly in common with almost every person i care to know (anybody whos interesting). So really I am nerdy at anything I do, but that includes way to many unerdy things to be really put into a category. But I skip way to much class, and smoke way to much dank for the school to consider me a nerd.

But if I told you all my nerdy habits, it`d be pretty impressive

In regards to melee nerdiness, I've read over frame data list many times spend hours a night practicing tech by myself, am currently skipping class to post this, and carry a cube in my backpack.

Oh, and if I didn't give a good enough description about how I look (I don't think I included one at all) this might give you a good idea:

I have long brown hair that most girls are extremely jealous of because I keep it in extremely good condition, I have brown eyes that I've been told are extremely pretty by another girl, I am an extremely sharp dresser (not trying to be prideful, just honest. My mom used to get paid to shop with people and tell them what to wear and my dad owns a hair salon and is an extremely well respected hair dresser), I nearly always have my hair back in a ponytail and typically wear jeans and a button down shirt that ends up looking really nice on me.

Beyond that while I'm not a chick magnet by girls just looking at me, I know how a girl's heart works and have in the past used that to win many a girl's heart (but I've changed from that. You can all be proud of me on that level, I haven't officially dated a girl in about three years and want the next girl I date to be the one I marry).

I still have my nerdy or geeky side, but most people don't really think I'm a nerd. They just find me strange for the most part. So, from the outside I'm definitely not a nerd. From the outside (and all of this is what I've been told, not what I assume about myself), I'm a kind-hearted, devoted, passionate and pretty darn good looking young man.

That's about all, really. I just also happen to be a huge fan of video games, smash in particular, read a lot, am extremely invested in literature, love writing, and am a focused student. So, I don't think I'm a nerd. But *shrug* you tell me (Not really...you can if you want to, but I wasn't hoping for responses if it came across that way <.<;; ).

Meh, I'm a jock with a sick obsession with victory. If I lose at anything, I do everything in my power to make sure it never happens again. Thus has cause me to "hate" my brother, but also brought me into the smash community so its all good.
