Try working on controlling your thumb better i guess...you might also have a controller that is extra sensitive thus making it a lot harder to tilt. I have 2 controllers that i bought online like 2 years ago that suck because the joystick is like super duper sensitive hahaha it's hard to even choose the right character sometimes.

How could you possibly think this deserves it's own thread?

If you're doing smashes then that means you're not really "tilting" the control stick while pressing A; You're putting too much force into your desired direction.

You have to love your control stick...be gentle to it....caress....er.....

Just be gentle when you use A+any direction to Tilt....lol. It's called "tilt" for a reason: you're just tilting the control stick.

he's new man...

just as the name implies, tilt the control stick as opposed to slamming it in the direction you want.. if it makes it easier for upwards tilts try turning the tap jump off as well...

FYI next time you have a question use the sticky or search function kthx

maybe you are hitting the attack button too soon, since a smash is direction + attack simultaneously. if you need to do it quick then slightly tilt the control stick so you won't dash, hold for a half a second, then hit the attack button.

Practice.

If you really want to, you can set the c-stick to do tilts.
This strategy works well actually.
Thinkaman from STL does this and he's the best Jigglypuff ever in Brawl, no lie.
I usually, If I'm Snake, seem to do it habitually, but that's because Snake doesn't move very fast anyways, and if I accidentally do a dash attack, I'll just Snake Dash to avoid punishment.
Down tilts work pretty easy, just crouch.
Up tilts, as long as you don't have tap jump on are easy.

Yeah it's not that easy to tilt on purpose if you're in the middle of the match and just think about it and want to do it immediately.

It's really annoying and I also tought about setting the cstick to tilts, but yeah I don't know if I want all those changes...

This probably isn't the place to post this but...... If you changed the c stick to tilts, does it still retain its smash di?

No I mean Smash DI. I read a thread on DI that the c stick is now incorporated with smash di. As in if you're sent flying and use the c stick instead of A for aerials you'll survive at higher percentages. I believe that was meant with default settings, which means: c stick = smashes. But what if it was changed to tilts...........

I see your point. Aerials would still be aerials with an inputed direction. TDI, yeah that's a must!! lol.

This thread is stupid. It tells you how to do it in the INSTRUCTION MANUAL. Also, if tilting is hard for you then you are bad.

Furthermore, if you hold the control stick in a direction and hit the c stick in the same direction, you will tilt instead of smash. Something easily discovered if you play the game for more than 5 minutes.

Let him off guys. It's not completely his fault.

Tilts don't work like they did in melee. Even if you tilt, but press "a" at the same time, you get a smash. If you want to tilt, move in the desired direction (slowly, if forward) THEN press "a". If you want up-tilts, turn off tap jump, then do what i said, or just tilt it very slowly.

No. Tilts work exactly the same, and are easier to do with c stck buffers and custom controls.

The OP should be ashamed of himself for being this stupid, and so should anyone enbling this behaviour.

Not that much you can do tbh, just need to practice and practice until you build up your muscle memory.
