Hey guys, sorry I'm so late to all this haha.
First of all, you can ask Zac to do mod stuff too
. He is one of the southwest mods now. This is just referencing inui/alex arguing in here.
On to everything else:
I know a lot of you want MK legal at Hobos. I know I do. REALLY badly. I know how you feel. You want every ounce of competition you can squeeze out, that feeling of accomplishment, challenges...you know what I'm talking about. You have to realize though how stressful you are making this on Allan. He's trying to help. Even if you think he's hurting the community he really is just trying to help. His intentions are good so chill out. It's fine to voice your opinion but try to at least be respectable about it. Not saying people are being disrespectful...just in general.
Allan really has done a TON for the texas smash scene and all of you know it. Don't make him into the "bad" guy. We don't even need a bad guy. I've traveled to every region for tournaments and from my experiences I can honestly say that we have the closest smash scene easily. Not everyone gets along here, which is true anywhere, but it's amazing how many people here are good friends with each other. How much we will do for each other. How we can always just chill
.
Don't start disliking each other over an opinion.
And honestly, Xyro is the TO. His rules. He puts a ton of effort into making tournaments awesome for you guys, he deserves the right to use his rules without people degrading him as a person. You try finding consistent venues and hyping tournaments. It's not easy.
Allan:
You did over react just a little bit. I understand how all of this is getting to you, must be stressful as hell, but you have to keep in mind people don't think about these things often on the boards. A lot of people feel very strongly about the MK ban on both sides, so naturally it's going to come up a lot either way. It just so happens that a lot of people in Texas are anti-ban so you are going to get some flak for it and I know you have accepted that. We all know how much of a godsend you are to the Texas smash scene, so you really don't have to worry about that
. I think it's great that you try out so many different types of tournaments and always shake things up somehow.
People are always going to bug you about MK though. They aren't really wrong for it, they are just very strong in their beliefs, just like you are. We know that we can get practice against MK in friendlies/mms etc. But people want EVERY OUNCE of tournament experience they can get. Nothing seems as important. People want to play the great MK players outside of texas without traveling. People want to have a chance at Dojos MK in tournament. They for the most part love you Allan they just feel very strongly about these things just like you feel very strongly about people switching to MK and everything you outlined.
I understand all we can do is give suggestions. They are your tournaments. And I understand how frustrating it must be for you to try and compromise just to be completely shot down. I appreciate your efforts for comprise though. I know you care just as much as I do about this community. You do all the things I do and more for people.
So here is my suggestion:
Alternate between MK banned and MK legal. Brolys been saying this for awhile haha and it's been brought up before but everyone ignores it. If no one is going to budge then this is by far the best option. Let me just show you some pros to this:
- People get the tournament experience they want against MK every other tournament. This is better than none.
- Out of State MK players will be far more likely to attend the MK legal ones. Pro Ban OOS players will also attend the MK banned ones and might show up to the MK legal ones as well.
- Everyone is happy at some point.
- Attendance will steadily increase because things will always be fresh.
- You will be able to compare attendance and results frequently.
Since no one will budge just make both parties happy. If you don't agree with this, that's fine
. Your tournament. Your compromise is pretty good too I think, but I'm just laying out an alternative for you if you want.
Either way, I love all of you and hope we can avoid silly drama and still have fun while still being ****ing amazing at this game.
