Edit: talking to me popertop?
nah I just posted randomly

good game >_>

as to the zelda topic

her u-air is ****, idk how you would juggle with it? it can kill at like 80%
and her fair and bair = falcon knee (just not as epic)
dair spikes
i don't really know about her nair. but he air game is good. i would be afraid of a good zelda but no one uses her.
I had to play a good *** Zelda in Pools, he beat my Lucario. Everytime I would try to cross him up with Fair > Nair > Utilt he would sweetspot Fair me in the face before my Fair came out. He made me sooo nervous. It's a pity only top two got out of pools they deserved to get out too.

Wow Allan I think you're a bit biased on saying which Metroid game to start with considering you only really like prime 1 and 3 out of all the Metroid games. Start with Super Metroid, then Zero Mission (which includes the original on the cart), then Fusion, and finally the Prime Series.

Return of Samus should be stuck in there somewhere but its a GB game so it might be slightly harder to come by without emulation.

for some one STARTING OFF on metroid, i would NEVER ask them to play the original. it sboring as hell and its the same 3 songs the WHOLE game. its a 2d side scroller. not to mention its a NES game. MOST people cant appreciate that if they never owned a NES.

now hold up ANY of the primes or super metroid and the player might actually KEEP playing.

its not biased. its HELPING THEM

Im allowed to dislike certain games in any given series. A fan is allowed to have FAVs and allowed to dislike some.

i hate original metroid and metroid 2. fusion is HORRIBLE(story wise) and super metroid reminds me of mega manX(which isnt bad). PRIME 1 and 3 are great and prime 2 is OK.

Prime 1 is amazing, but if you want to get into the series I'd save the Prime triology for last. Not only will you miss alot of references, but you really appreciate the details so much more. The Drifts are my favorite area in any video game, god****.

And I suggest to start with Super Metroid because it has slightly aged whereas Zero Mission/ Fusion have not really.

Also yes, Earthbound is amazing. Mother 3 is... maybe even better.

---------------------------------------------------------

Edit: lol thanks for proving my point Allan. I never said to even start with the original. And when you aren't fond of the majority of the series... Maybe the series isn't what you love, but rather just a few titles from the series?

Fusion's story wasn't bad at all. The X parasite's were cheesy (but so are metroids to be honest). The rest was as good as it gets for a 2D game. LOL you act like 2D side scrollers are terrible. GTFO, Metroid plays as much like Megaman as Castlevania does.

Yeah I like Fusion as well, it dissappointed me that there wasn't going to be any continuation after that though. :(

Also, I've wanted to play mother 3 for a while, but I wanna finish Earthbound first.

I have a working SNES, so if anybody has a working cartridge they are willing to let me borrow, taht would be top tier of them to do so.

I like Zelda too, Jerm.

And Pop sometime in the future you'll have to talk to me. I have a way to play Mother 3 on your GBA. :)

i love the story and i love the main character. i like how it all plays out. theres just certain things i dislike.

METROID- has NO DEPTH(repetitive). HORRIBLE boring *** 3 songs. Coloring was HORRIBLE as well, ive seen better NES games. its a straight forward 2d side scroller than has some basic metroid history and sets the stage for a LITTLE more down the road. HORRIBLE.

Metroid 2- sweet, a GB metroid. adds more to the story and sets up for super metroid(which is good). 2d side scroller with a grand total of like 3 colors. MEGA MEGA repetitive( i guess because its a GB game). HORRIBLE.

Super Metroid- MUCH MORE DEEP(techs/story/ect). On the SNES(yahoooo). Decent music, decent bosses. Felt like MEGA MAN X. Good game.

Prime 1-3: BEYOND AMAZING in ALL areas(history/future game set-ups/techs/music/color(graphics)/bosses...ect). I hated the fact i got headaches from this game(FPS sickness, i guess)

Fusion- DESTROYED THE VERY FOUNDATION OF WHAT SAMUS IS ABOUT(story sucks big hairy balls). Good controls(for gba), bosses, music, and color.

over all, i dislike metroid and metroid 2. other than that the rest are ok. its like mario kart, i HATE double dash and mario kart wii but i like the SNES mario cart and the 64 mario kart.

NES Metroids were repetitive, but so were a lot of other games. All the Super Mario Bros games were repetitive (kill enemies and reach the goal), the Mega Man games were repetitive (kill a Robot Master and then fight Wiley at Skull Castle #2312), etc. Heck, you probably have to fight Ridley AGAIN in Other M! Repetitive much? ;)

Still, you really should play the first game in a series. It's obvious most old games don't age well with time, but it can be interesting seeing what they could imagine and program with the limited amount of resources back then. And if you have fun with a game, it shouldn't matter how old it is. :)

This is what we call personal preference.

HORRIBLE.
lol. Songs are remixed for future titles and are now classic songs. Coloring fit what it was trying to do. MASSIVE game for its time and if you actually played through it without the internet it has a magical quality of exploration, forcing you to either have a good memory or hand-draw maps as you explore this massive world full of powerups and bosses.

Sure, it is dated now but with the right mindset and some patience to learn the game it is AMAZING.

Your arguement is basically "old is bad." Yeah, original Zelda is bad too. SOLID FILL COLORS? 30 SECOND LOOPING SONGS? SO REDUNDANT!!!

Metroid 2- sweet, a GB metroid. adds more to the story and sets up for super metroid(which is good). 2d side scroller with a grand total of like 3 colors. MEGA MEGA repetitive( i guess because its a GB game). HORRIBLE.
It adds alot of story, was phenomenal considering technical limitations, but didn't age all that well. However it was no more repetitive than any other game of the genre...

Super Metroid- MUCH MORE DEEP(techs/story/ect). On the SNES(yahoooo). Decent music, decent bosses. Felt like MEGA MAN X. Good game.
I lol when you say it feels like Mega Man X. It did really blossom the series though. Most people's first venture into the series and what made it a big one. Not much to say here. Great game. Slighty dated now with a few control issues. Otherwise great.

Prime 1-3: BEYOND AMAZING in ALL areas(history/future game set-ups/techs/music/color(graphics)/bosses...ect). I hated the fact i got headaches from this game(FPS sickness, i guess)
I love the games but I gotta point out some obvious flaws. Unless you're playing with a guide expect massive amounts of pointless backtracking for artifacts later in the game.

Prime 2 suffers from being slow as hell and poor dark world game mechanics. Also you wanna talk about redundant? Prime 2 is all grey/drab looking. Same uninspired enemies over and over and over and over. Gotta love the Ing.

The game really wants to hold you hand and even with turning hints off the game can sometimes poke at you. There are missable scans that you might not know about (so good luck getting 100% without a guide), and a few of the plot devices are cheesy. DURR EXTREME RADIATION? LET'S INJECT IT INTO OURSELVES. HULK TIME!!

Fusion- DESTROYED THE VERY FOUNDATION OF WHAT SAMUS IS ABOUT(story sucks big hairy balls). Good controls(for gba), bosses, music, and color.
lol have you even played Fusion? If anything it gave Samus more backstory while retaining everything. The Fusion Suit gets resolved, sucka. Its no different than the power suit really. Biggest complaint by far is that the game holds your hand massively.

Adventures of Lolo = awesome. Solomon's Key series is also good. I wish there were more games like that around...

i guess i dont got the mind set for it. and yea i used the net for the maps.

Your arguement is basically "old is bad." Yeah, original Zelda is bad too. SOLID FILL COLORS? 30 SECOND LOOPING SONGS? SO REDUNDANT!!!
to be honest, the ONLY zelda i will never play again is the side scrolling one. maybe i just dont like side scrolling

It adds alot of story, was phenomenal considering technical limitations, but didn't age all that well. However it was no more repetitive than any other game of the genre...
i havnt played metroid 2 in a long *** time but wernt you stuck in the SAME area fo the whole game? i think thats why i hate it.

I lol when you say it feels like Mega Man X. It did really blossom the series though. Most people's first venture into the series and what made it a big one. Not much to say here. Great game. Slighty dated now with a few control issues. Otherwise great.
i dont know why but evey time i play it i feel like im playing mega man x3. but in any case its a decent game.

I love the games but I gotta point out some obvious flaws. Unless you're playing with a guide expect massive amounts of pointless backtracking for artifacts later in the game.
i never used a guide so yea your right. i went back to certain placed about 7 times only to find out i didnt need to go there because the artifact was 99.2 miles the other way. so yea i agree, that was and is ********.

Prime 2 suffers from being slow as hell and poor dark world game mechanics. Also you wanna talk about redundant? Prime 2 is all grey/drab looking. Same uninspired enemies over and over and over and over. Gotta love the Ing.
i agree with all of it but i liked the fact that you saw OTHER people in the game for once(the storm trooper guys) and the increased difficulty from prime 1.

I could say the same about the metroid that saved you in super metoid. corny suff is everywhere. The scans though, that ADD to the exp(unless its like scanning a pipe or bush)

lol have you even played Fusion? If anything it gave Samus more backstory while retaining everything. The Fusion Suit gets resolved, sucka. Its no different than the power suit really. Biggest complaint by far is that the game holds your hand massively.

Umm, the fusion suit issue gets resolved? i must have missed that. Where does it say it CAN be removed and her original suit can return?

also.....

Since when does samus become a maverik bounty hunter? She DISOBEYED a direct order and destroyed that lab. They have taken samus and made her into something WAAAAAY off of her original track.

First of all, to Pop: YES!!!! EARTHBOUND IS TOO GOOD! And Mother 3 is just as good, if not better. Mother 3 is one of the greatest games I have ever played. And so is Earthbound! DAYUM!!!!

Now, Metroid. I've played and beat all games in the series except for Metroid Prime Hunters, which I have no desire to play. The first Metroid game I ever owned was Metroid 2 on the Gameboy, and even as a little kid, I loved it and didn't often find myself lost. Now I will present the list of Metroid games how I feel they are in terms of enjoyability and goodness.

Metroid Zero Mission (The remake of the first for GBA, spent SO MUCH time on this game. Played through it so many times.)
Metroid Fusion
Super Metroid
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 3
Metroid 2
Metroid Prime 2
Metroid (I do think this game isn't all that great, by today's standards)

All are great games, with the exception of Prime 2, which I feel should have been done completely differently. The light/dark world thing wasn't that great at all, and has been done before and better by several other games.

due to the crap they injected samus with she cant be hurt by normal X and could absorb them to replenish health and ammunition and she also inherited the Metroids' vulnerability to cold.

Lets have CHOZO blood, HUMAN blood and now lets have METROID weaknesses, ********

The federation tells her to gtfo and leave the investigation to the feds and she disobeys and sets off the space staion self destruct system(crash into that planet).

NOW SHE IS A MAVERIK BOUNTY HUNTER, ********

ike i was saying, this is WAAAAAAY of in left field for the series. no other metroid made this much of a drastic change

I think I lost my copy of fusion....I must find it. Allan idk why you hate that game so much, it's one of the best Metroids, IMO. Except for the fact it was a bit linear, but it was still really fun.

I like the game play <_<
yea i agree. that wasnt bad at all. let me be clear. the game by itself was fine but the story(the whole reason why i love the series) was changed sooo much i doubt it can be repaired unless its through some mega corny magic in future metroid games. It appears to me they have lost track of what metroid started out to be.

if the metroid series was like zelda(where none of them really connect) then it would be cool.
Its kinda like movies. You see the first, then you see the next two and you can tell its gotten waaay off the original idea, it just gets ********.

Matrix(2 and 3)
Star wars (ep 1-3)
Batman(batman and robin/batman forever)

you get my point.

lolwut? First off the Prime Series is the series that changed who Samus Aran is. Originally she was a bounty hunter that worked alone in order to revenge up the Chozo, her foster family.

The suit's functionality is no worse than Prime 2's dark/light world system in corniness. Except that you find out why Metroids even exist, how the Power suit is like an extension of Samus, and that the "good guys" have been lying and manipulating Samus. In fact Fusion allows her to return to her roots by setting off to return to her original agenda instead of the Federation's.

Honestly having an organic suit makes just as much sense as her going into morph ball mode.

She didn't do anything out of character. She destroyed the Metroids which is the best call.
