Swiss style > pools. If you did four rounds of single match (not a set with someone, a round) to help seed out the bracket with 20 TVs and 76 people it would rougly take an hour to an hour and a half (always expect it to be longer, it should take less than an hour if done efficiently) and self-seed the double elim bracket.

It would take less time than pools, give everyone warmup and four matches against four different people, and then lead into the actual thing. So even the people who are swept get to play the equivalent of twice the matches they would have otherwise.

For those who don't know what Swiss style is, let me explain. Everyone starts off in the same group, B, and you play against a random person.

If you win, you go to group A, if you lose, you go to group C. Next round of Swiss you play against a random person in your group. So people who went to group A the first round and lose are now in group B, people who win group A are in group S, and so forth. After a few rounds (four is suggested here) you take your placings by group and seed the bracket with it.

So it would look something like

S

A

B

C

D

The S are paired with D, A with C, and B with itself in the bracket.

And no Ozz, you aren't invited. My house is already crowded enough those days. Besides, we're playing Smash 64 and Melee as well as Brawl. Probably some JoJos as well.

Pools would be cool, but I predict there will only be like 60-70 people max at this one. I doubt there will be a need for pools.

haha a few pages ago when I saw Allan say "OMG WE'RE EXPECTING 100 PEOPLE" I immediately thought this.

However, if these predictions happen to be correct, and we do pools, can I be a pool leader again? I ran a good pool at HOBO 11!

Trela, you'd probably make it out of pools at HOBO 16. It would be predominately TX, no OOS players to make it super hard, and you're a good player.

Im not mega old(im 21). But like i told you on aim, the hour glass is nearly out and im about to quit smash.Ive got ALOT of important thing to take care of like getting married next year and to get a DECENT job(not some food place crap) and finish up school so i can finally teach at the college level, get a house(or shack) and maybe get Amanda to bust out a few little green lesbians so i can teach them to Z-air.

The future is in the hands you young guys.

You're engaged, or is that to be determined?

I wish I could go to Genesis, but my "super competitive" period pretty much ends with this semester, lol.

IN OTHER NEWS: i will be putting up the "History of Houston Smash" on the front page soon. Its very interesting how this scene started and how it has evolved over the years. It will include the beginings of MY smash career and how the houston scene started up untill NOW. Trust me, this WILL be good.

I've been around with Houston smash since before Allan ran stuff. :)

We've come a long way, haven't we? And we owe so much to you Allan. Everyone does.

Let him have his wedding without us. I think Amanda deserves that.

Hmm...I've heard about swiss before, but I've never actually participated in a tourney that ran by it. I'm interested; I vote that if there aren't more than 100 people at HOBO 16, then we do swiss.

On a side note...my dog's back legs have been really limp these past few weeks...so we sent him to the hospital...he was diagnosed was cancer monday, and we had to put him to sleep yesterday :'(

733 people have already pre-registered for Genisis. This is discluding walk-ins and people who HAVEN'T registered already.

Also, considering the venue has to close at 12 every night, this makes this tournament impossible to run. I'm not going now, lmao.
