Okay, Justin Bieber may have not clawed his way to the top but Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson did. Just because someone has a terrible childhood doesnt make people who didnt have a bad childhoods climb to success easier.
Pop isnt raw negative emotion like rap can be. Pop;s raw emotion is usually described through moments of bliss, or moments of pure joy. Then they have they have moments of loss and depression. The word raw doesnt really fit with pop. Maybe pure emotion. Raw is to unrefined.
In general all I am trying to say is, Pop isnt crap. You just dont like it and probably dont give it the time of day. I like some rap/hip-hop. I like Missy Elliot, Nicki Minaj, and Eve.
Pop is popular for a reason, people like it. What makes something "good"? People liking it. I mean you like things that sound good to you right? Well pop has a lot of people that think it sounds good.
Firstly, RAP is not Hip-Hop. Rap is the popular version, Hip-Hop is underground and is a whole movement.
I could go into detail but I won't..
Secondly, Michael Jackson is the only alternative to the "pop is crap stereotype".
And TONS of hip-hop is uplifting!!! For example, listen to "It was a Good Day" by Ice Cube.
Is that negative? No.
Also, pop does not have raw emotion, except in VERY VERY rare cases.
For example, I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. It's the only pop song I like, and even though I listen to 99% hip-hop, this song is great. It has great lyrics, nice beat, and you can feel the emotion put into the song.
However, the rest is complete and utter ****. Pretty much. Justin Bieber doesn't write his lyrics! THERE IS NOTHING MEANINGFUL ABOUT HIS SONGS. SAME WITH TONS OF OTHER ARTISTS.
And utter joy and bliss? What? So California Gurls is utter bliss? And same with Miley Cyrus singing about a party in the USA?
News to me.
Pop isn't good at all.
People like it because it's catchy!
Also, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot, and Eve are terrible. I have a feeling that you like female rappers, so do yourself a favor and listen to Queen Latifah's hip-hop albums, and same with MC Lyte.
Plus, I can't stress this enough, in the title I was referring to popular rap, like Lil Wayne, etc. etc. Your whole argument was out of place, yet lucky for you I do detest pop to the fullest extent of my ability.
Have a nice day
And Nova. Is that good? I need something really really good to make my stuff.
Does it have royalty free loops?
Can you use virtual instruments to make beats and sounds?
If so, **** YES.
