Marc, I really don't think you're mafia, but your playstyle is a bit too aggressive. You've got some experience, and from what I can see, you're fairly smart. You're only hurting yourself by calling the other players idiots. Makes them much more likely to listen to what you have to say.
I meant much less likely, by the way.

The original sentence really doesn't make much sense.

KevinM: Good call, I would have been dead without that.
Don't think it's because I think you're town, I only did it because with 13 people in there it would have been stupid to lynch an active player with no reasoning besides two people bickering back and forth.

****, fine, you arrogant *******s! I'll play your little game!

You know what? I don't like how KevinM jumped in on the vote last round. It seemed like he was trying to protect Marc by tieing the vote at the last second. I think they're both Mafia.

VOTE: KevinM
If I was dumb enough to blatantly tie it at the last second as mafia, that would be downright ridiculous, that would be like hammering when people are telling you to wait just to get a quick kill as mafia. Would you really want a lynch vote with THREE votes.

Also I'd like to hear a little more from Marc, I especially like how Eor pointed out he seemed to not have a clue what he was doing at the beginning and is taking the reigns now, much like how I play when I'm mafia starting reserved and then trying to control the game.

I misread the voting.

Still voting Marc now, just because I really cannot think of a reason not to vote for him.

With Matt, he's either Mafia and they won't kill him, or they want us to do it and waste a lynch because he's going to annoy us until he dies.

The only person I'm leaning towards is Marc. =/ Sure, it's a little too convenient that Virg died after confronting him, but Marc seemed to make that an immediate go-to excuse. I'm not casting a vote quite yet, but for now, when the time comes, I'll end up voting for him.

Its sad that that's the only bit of evidence we have. :( And either way, it could just be a setup-- which is why I'm not giving the vote quite yet.

Let's just say that I find your general lack of temperance.. disconcerting. And this has nothing to do with foreignness, I don't believe. But... I wanna give you the benefit of the doubt, and even if the 'tude isn't a role restriction, it might just be you and I suppose there's some reason for it. The game must go on, and not everyone (myself included) has been doing their part.
I apologize if you think my temperance is bad. Also, I don't want to use being a foreigner as an excuse, but it does make a difference sometimes. This really is the way I play usually, though I would be less aggressive in a role that required me to lay low until a critical moment.

Look at it like this: this is a game where you can't trust anyone. People are lying to each other and the good guys MUST work together in order to take out the bad guys. In order to maximize chances, you must question everything about everyone. Of course it doesn't always feel nice to be called out on why you made a certain vote or why your suspicions don't make sense, but you're being called out on game behaviour. I'm a townie, townies need activity, I get annoyed when there is none. I guess I'm just getting a bit too involved at times, but playing it like it's real does make a difference. Being a bit of an ******* is a viable way to lure people out IMO, in the games I played people never had trouble discerning between in-game and outside of the game.

Marc, I really don't think you're mafia, but your playstyle is a bit too aggressive. You've got some experience, and from what I can see, you're fairly smart. You're only hurting yourself by calling the other players idiots. Makes them much more likely to listen to what you have to say.
Point taken. I really didn't think people would take offense to this level though. In the games I've played things could get rough, hell, even in SBR discussions things can get rough, but that isn't personal. In the first case it's about playing the game, in the latter about defending a point of view.

If I was dumb enough to blatantly tie it at the last second as mafia, that would be downright ridiculous, that would be like hammering when people are telling you to wait just to get a quick kill as mafia. Would you really want a lynch vote with THREE votes.
Indeed, that's why I trust you for now. I'm pretty sure you would've let me die if you were Mafia. Too bad the others won't really trust you until I die. =p

Also I'd like to hear a little more from Marc, I especially like how Eor pointed out he seemed to not have a clue what he was doing at the beginning and is taking the reigns now, much like how I play when I'm mafia starting reserved and then trying to control the game.
First of all, I have tons of experience with different rules in my own language. The core of the game is basically the same, but the role names are a bit confusing. To be fair though, I've been active from the beginning, I just stand out more now. I don't think I'm trying to control the game, that would mean I'd point people towards other players all the time. If anyone is controlling the game right now, it's Eor. I just want people to be active, which is why I'm being more aggressive, people feel the need to respond when they're attacked.

Still voting Marc now, just because I really cannot think of a reason not to vote for him.
Err, that's now how this works. You think of reasons to kill someone, not the other way around.

The only person I'm leaning towards is Marc. =/ Sure, it's a little too convenient that Virg died after confronting him, but Marc seemed to make that an immediate go-to excuse.
I suspected a setup, so I said something right away. Didn't really help so far.

Im here, I'm here! I really don't want to leave this game, so I will be trying much harder to increase my activity in the coming weeks. I was planning on actually detailing my thoughts on the game so far tonight, but it's gotten way too late for me (it's nearly 9:30 and I must be at work by 5). I seriously hate to keep using work as an excuse for lurking. Let me give a quick overview then that I will expand upon tomorrow afternoon:

I'm still quite suspicious of Matt, though Virg's joker description gives me second thoughts about him being mafia.

I'm less suspicious of Marc than I was before, but he's still pretty up there.

Somewhat suspicious of Xsyven. Maybe CK too, but nothing substantive at this point.

There are others I'm keeping my eyes on, but I'm hoping to see more out of them before I start pointing fingers.

I can't believe nobody has anything to reply to about Marc's most recent post. Or about anything else that has been said recently.

We have a lot of inactives, too. Honestly, a prompt might be good at this point. Otherwise, I suspect this is going to be another day that passes by with almost no information gained.

Yes, it's sad. I already have 3 votes, so I'm probably done for if this keeps up. I really don't get why some people are in every **** thread I open up (especially Mic), but somehow never end up in here.

Because I don't know what to say. "I suspect Marc! Wait, maybe I don't and he's actually town and isn't trying to fool us and is just defending himself."

*Shrug"* I don't think I'm good at these games.

Fair enough. I'd like to ask for some more time, especially from the people who are basing this on a hunch. I can promise I'll be active till the very end, unless I get killed during the night. I think I did a good job defending myself and I'd like to move on.

So after reading the whole thread over again I have to say I’m surprised at the lack of evidence. It doesn’t really feel like there is as much to go off of as there should be.

Like a lot of you I’m pretty suspicious of Marc. He has been the most vocal of all the people posting by far, yet when it comes to actually arguing against anyone there has been very little he has had to say on the subject. Pretty much lynch the in-actives and a strong suspicion of GoldShadow. Sure he has been on the defensive for awhile, but it just seems like there is a purpose to it. It almost feels as if he is luring people out to post about him. Sure this could just be a ploy to get everyone to post more, but who actually wants to draw attention to themselves in a mafia game? I’m not sure how to take this.

Ah, that's kinda like the Seer role. Meaning we lost one of our most valuable allies. I kinda suspected it because I didn't think the replacement would be random, which is why I hesitated to just vote for Virgilijus. The Mafia picked up on that as well, which leads me to believe some of them aren't that stupid.
When you are a Townie and you suspect someone is the Seer, YOU DON'T POST THAT UNLESS THAT PERSON IS IN DANGER OF GETTING LYNCHED. It's like saying who the Mafia should go after. I suspected Virgilijus had a special role and thought it more likely that it was a good guy role, but at the same time he was attacking me, so I was confused. I decided to wait it out and not go after him and risk killing the Seer.
Marc – One of the things I’m confused about is why you had any suspicion Virg was the Town Reporter or “Seer” role. You state that you suspected his replacement wouldn’t be random. So while there was a good chance he had an important role you go on like you specifically thought he was the Town Reporter. Any reason?

Mic128 and Xsyven – I understand your lack of posting due to experience or not wanting to get killed off, but it doesn’t really help anything. It’d be nice to get some input.

AltF4 – Really I think people got it right with the goth/emo angle, but as to what that means I have no idea. Not enough posts to really judge anything.

Mediocre – I’ve read a lot of the Mafia games on here and I’ve always thought you had a good grasp on what’s going on. I was kind of hoping for some recent input from you. As of right now I have you pegged as town.

Eor – For some reason I automatically think of you as mafia from reading the other games. Right now though I have you down as town, mostly because of your early game activity.

Everyone else – I have very little in my notes on so far.

Subject to change. Just voting so I don't get in trouble when the deadline comes. :(

And now that I did that, I'm TOTALLY Mafia because I took advantage of Marc's high vote count, and blamed it on being scared. (See what I mean, Matunas?)

I think the thing that's bothered me most about Marc is his supreme confidence in his purportedly awesome argument to his own innocence and the absurdity of our voting for him. Only recently have I come to know that this may just be part of Marc's rash temperament, but when applied to this game it feels like overcompensation. It feels like despite the fact that he knows as well as us that anyone is still highly (and perhaps equally) likely to be mafia, he's the least convincing in his own insistent defense.

But he's experienced, yes? I do find it incredibly strange that he would call this much undue attention to himself, regardless of real personality and in-game personality. It's all quite confusing.

I want to unvote him. I really do. But who else would I vote for at this point? I'm pretty impartial to everyone else. Mostly.

It feels like I'm obligated by role to not want AltF4Warrior around, so I may yet switch my vote to him. Furthermore, his chances at being mafia seem likely to me for reasons that, if I explain, will make me look even more suspicious. But I must do what I must.

Think about it like this: My role as the funny guy is meant to complicate the game, and I've embraced it thoroughly. It does little good to say "I'm not mafia," and even less good for me to say "Seriously, guys"--but it's true. I'm meant to be questionable, to beg the question of whether I'm mostly harmless with my humor or some kind of twisted mad man out to kill all of you. I can only assure you that I'm the former.

This leads me to believe that AltF4's role as the person who clearly hates everyone serves a similar purpose: Complication. This also leads me to believe that, for the sake of variety, AltF4 is in fact a mafiaso. If for nothing else than to satisfy Tom's own literary sensibilities to craft a world of both similarities and contrasts, I'm highly suspicious of AltF4. There wouldn't be two suspicious members serving the same purpose.

Of course, everything I'm saying could be true, except the inverse. Perhaps I'm the mafia member, and AltF4 is the red herring. What a twist!

Actually, before I forget, I'll change my vote now:

Unvote: Marc

Vote: AltF4

...I really doubt Tom made it so that bad stereotype kids are Mafia, and good kids are town. That'd make things way too easy. If it was like that, I'd consider all those that HAVEN'T been playing in character suspicious, for hiding their character is.

Going by what I have (my own role), I think that the first part of what you said Xsy is an interesting possibility. The two roles we know are the gossip girl (a "popular" - if annoying - stereotype) and the teacher's pet (traditionally very UNpopular). My own role fits this trend as well. Now, I'll say up front that I haven't fully concluded that this would be the case, as that's very little information to provide such a conclusion, but I also have zero evidence against it right now. So it's a possibility that I think I'll entertain a while longer.

However, I don't really see how it follows that you'd assume every player has the kind of obvious role restriction that Matt and Alt have. Well, Matt for certain anyway, but I find it unlikely that Alt is just playing out his character's disposition because he feels like it. I can tell you right now that I don't have any sort of posting restriction like that, and it's pretty evident that a lot of other people don't seem to either.

Blast, I've gotta go for now. More to come later today perhaps.

I try to force people to act and choose in order to get valuable information before we're all dead. I'm on the defensive right now, but I am watching. I at least sparked some activity. :x

Marc – One of the things I’m confused about is why you had any suspicion Virg was the Town Reporter or “Seer” role. You state that you suspected his replacement wouldn’t be random. So while there was a good chance he had an important role you go on like you specifically thought he was the Town Reporter. Any reason?
Simply because I'm not used to there being many more special roles in a game this size. Also, his behaviour. I think he tried not to be overly active, but he actually wanted to play, which cost him because everyone was being quiet. His posting style was a bit suspicious to me at first, but then I realised it was mostly because he attacked me, so I figured he'd have a Seer-like role.

Ugh. I can't explain anything either. I'm a gut instinct person. But what the hell.

You seem to have figured out what I'm trying to do, yet you want to add yourself to the suspicious people? Suspicious. If inactives keep being replaced you won't hear me advocating their death anymore, because we can finally start playing then.

I think the thing that's bothered me most about Marc is his supreme confidence in his purportedly awesome argument to his own innocence and the absurdity of our voting for him.
How can I not have supreme confidence in my own innocence? I've never debated I'm as suspicious as anyone else to other people. I think most of the votes for me are absurd because they're based on things like "gut instinct" and "a hunch". I really think it's bad to kill off an active player when you have so little on him. If I'm Mafia I'll probably give myself away anyway if I keep posting like this, so why not wait?

Seeing how my death is near, I’ll leave you guys with my final thoughts. My playing style might have been too aggressive, but it’s the only thing I could think of to stir up some activity and lure some people out. I hope it’ll progress the game. I’m not really used to playing with people who have very little experience and I sincerely hope you haven’t taken anything I said personal. This is a game, I’ve been calling people out on game behaviour and lines of reasoning to try and pressure people into activity.

Having said that, I personally would give the people who killed me hell and search for Mafia among them first. The Town side will really need to step it up if we want to win this. Be more careful with your votes, defend yourself like a man and try to trick those Mafia *******s into making stupid mistakes. Remember, they’re big fat liars when it comes down to it.

Marc voters (suspicious by default):

Eor: I blame him for the “vote Marc” bandwagon (if you’re Mafia, nicely done). His almost got me killed through a joke vote, then started actively pursueing me. His reason was that I was becoming too much of a leader, while I was supposedly more quiet in the beginning. I think I did a good job defending against his accusations, but no one responded to most of my defense, which is extremely disappointing. Very suspicious.

Crimson King: Doesn’t see a reason not to vote for me, which is not how this works. He never really came up with a good reason to vote for me and he needs to be pressured into a decent explanation. Then again, he doesn’t seem to take this game very seriously to begin with. You don’t kill an active player because of a gut feeling.

Mic_128: He has over 20000 posts, but he sure doesn’t get them from this topic. He got called out on his silly behaviour early on and refuses to post anything ever since. He really wants to live, while he barely plays at all. This makes me think he’s not a regular Townie and I still think he’s very suspicious. I’m voting for him again.

Xsyven: He was a bit hesitant to vote for me, but he did so anyway. This way he won’t get into trouble when the deadline gets near, which is a very good reason to vote for someone. </sarcasm> Seriously though, he tries to think, but when it comes down to it, he trusts his gut instinct. Not as suspicious as Eor and Mic, but he has some explaining to do.

AltF4: Thinks KevinM and me are both Mafia, and tries to test that by killing me. He severely underestimates both KevinM and me, because when your Mafia buddy is about to die, it’s usually better to actually contribute to his death than protect him. He has contributed next to nothing and there’s not much else I can say about him.

Not much to say about:

Goldshadow: Hasn’t been very active lately. I’d like to remind everyone that he was suspected early on and cut down his activity after that passed. I wouldn’t forget about him just yet.

Yeroc: You don’t seem too shabby, please post more.

Matunas: He just got in and he seems like a pretty reasonable guy. I’m looking forward too seeing more from you.

“Safe”:

Mediocre: He has been the voice of reason since the very beginning and is probably one of the best players on the Town’s side. Nothing he has done stands out as suspicious and I trust him. I wish more people would actually listen to what he says instead of going after their female intuition. I hope he goes on the offensive more when the time is there.

KevinM: The chance that he’s Mafia is extremely low. He saved my life earlier, and although it could have been a smart (and dangerous) move to solidify his own position, I highly doubt that. Trust him.

Matt:

Matt: He gets his own category for being so hard to read. He unvoted me and all of his posts that weren’t a joke seemed very reasonable. His vote for AltF4 is a bit peculiar, because he doesn’t have much reason to do so (role restrictions? hm). Of course, AltF4 nor anyone else doesn’t even bother to question that. Not voting me in the end makes him seem more trustworthy, but it was pretty clear by then that I wasn’t going to live. I trust him though, at least for now.

How quickly Marc was/has/is to getting lynched is something that's making me think he might not be mafia, and I was waiting to see AltF4 post to see if he'd still try to get KevinM over Marc, which would of made me assume AltfF4 and Marc were both mafia. He didn't, which doesn't mean much.

I still found Marc suspicious, currently I have some doubts, but I have nothing else to go on, so I'm keeping my vote. He's still the most suspicious to me

That catches me off guard. Obviously if Marc is town then this will just reassure KevinM’s possible alignment, but if we do end up lynching him (which seems very likely) and he ends up mafia, this ends up automatically casting suspicion on KevinM even if he happens to be town. I guess we’ll have to see how that all plays out. It does make me suspect Marc a lot less.

I don’t like the fact that Mic and Xsyven just voted immediately when I asked for some activity. Instead of just posting some information or thoughts they jumped on the Marc bandwagon. I guess that’s one way of operating, just pretty sudden for two guys who have been hanging back in the shadows.

Think about it like this: My role as the funny guy is meant to complicate the game, and I've embraced it thoroughly.
I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about Matt’s post. Why do you think your role is meant to cause complication? You have a role restriction that makes you seem like the class clown, the only thing that confuses me is what your role does or if you are truly town. If you’re really the jester then I can see where you’re coming from, but if you’re just a townie with a (somewhat) funny role restriction then the only thing I’m not sure about is what you’re capable of. If you think you’re on to something, and that AltF4 really is mafia, I’m wondering what you think his role does/is. Not asking you to role or ability claim, just elaborate on why you feel Alt is dangerous. Is it just that you feel he is a contrast to you, or do you have an idea as to what he might be?

I don’t like the fact that Mic and Xsyven just voted immediately when I asked for some activity. Instead of just posting some information or thoughts they jumped on the Marc bandwagon. I guess that’s one way of operating, just pretty sudden for two guys who have been hanging back in the shadows.
Honestly, the only thing I'm going on is the fact that Virg got killed right after he and Marc had a big argument. Sure, it could be a setup against Marc, but it could just as easily be Marc using that as leverage, or evidence against bein' Mafia.

Other than that, I have nothin' on anyone else. So if I'm being forced to vote, I'm gonna go with this small random suspicion, rather than a completely random person.

And as for people voting for Marc, just because they're voting for him doesn't mean that they're Mafia-- it means that they agree with other people. I bet there's someone out there that wants to be the 6th person to vote, and get Marc's lynch-- but if it turns out he's Town, that 6th voter is screwed. To be honest, this is the reason I jumped on so fast-- so I wouldn't be accountable for a potential town lynch.

It's all scare tactics. This game has no strategy. :(

Its a vote against tmw_redcell, or a vote to replace him. Not a vote to lynch his replacement. :p

He most definitely said "Vote: Name" in bold, which is what you say to vote someone. If this is not the case, then it is not the mod's burden to correct it, it is the players.

this is going in my signature as long as I live.
