The UU metagame is sure to see a major change of pace, as threats like Mismagius and Ursaring received wonderful gifts in the form of Nasty Plot and Belly Drum respectively. Almost instantly making them suspects for UU banning. Arcanine also got Morning Sun, which could probably lead to more uses of him on Sunny Day teams. Feraligatr got Aqua Jet, which helps him in his Swords Dancing sets. It's kinda sad to see some of the slower Water-types receive Dragon Dance. I'd say the only one worthwhile is Whiscash, who actually has a decent physical movepool.

In OU, Vaporeon got Heal Bell, which simply makes her an even better support Pokemon with Wish / Heal Bell / Protect / Surf. She'll still suffer from the 4-Move syndrome. Scizor just got even more epic with the addition of Bug Bite to his movepool, which really isn't a game changer like Bullet Punch was, but it will provide him with a 135 BP attack for his Swords Dance sets.

The vast number of Pokemon who got Encore and Heal Bell will probably see a rise in usage over time. The same can be said of Pokemon who got Gravity. In UU, Registeel with Gravity paired with Dugtrio will prove even more effective than Blissey with Gravity and Dugtrio, so Gravity teams actually have a chance to use them and will also increase in usage.

As for Super Fang, I really have no comment. Crobat becomes a great force to deal with thanks to Super Fang / Taunt / U-Turn. In UU, Sharpedo may be able to utilize Super Fang with Aqua Jet and his mixed attacking stats. Walrein simply goes Uber as far as Hail Stall goes. Super Fang / Protect / Substitute / Bilzzard under Hail is just...terrifying.

I've always had this thing for Mightyena, and super fang is a cool new option. When I get around to making a UU team, I may pair him with Quagsire (yay recover) and some other new stuff.

Wow, I completely forgot about Scizor's technician. Bug Bite really is an amazing move for him.

Poor ol' Gastrodon is utterly useless now that Quagsire got Recover. Poor thing.

Also, Venusaur with Block and Leech Seed is also an interesting new idea.

Now I can make a useful NU Lead out of the thing.

Only Dialga and Palkia gained Power Gem? That's really lame, specially inclined offensive Pokemon still have to settle with HP Rock or AncientPower.

Sunflora was the only Pokemon to gain Earth Power... hm.

No one learned Flare Blitz. Meaning still no common strong physical Fire moves.

Physical STAB for Venasaur in the form of Power Whip is pretty awesome.

Speaking of Power Whip, Tangrowth got Power Trick. A nifty gimmick set of Power Trick / Sleep Powder / Power Whip / Earthquake comes to mind.

HOLY SHI Forretress gets Power Trick too.

No Volt Tackle for Luxray yet?

Agility Dunsparce might be able to do some damage with Headbutt.

Togekiss gets Headbutt now, not that anyone will give up Air Slash.

...Blissey with Block. That could get really annoying really fast.

No one gained Spikes or Toxic Spikes. Hrm.

Magmortar got belly drum as well. Probably not as good as Ursaring with it, but quite possibly better than the likes of Charizard. Not too bad, imo. :)

Also, I agree with Blissey getting block. Might be pretty gay, depending on the other three moves...

These new moves are both gay and amazing at the same time.

So are SO GOOD like Azumril Belly Drum Aqua Jet.
Others like Metagross Gravity and Scizor with a 135 stab move now are just way to wtf were they thinking.

Wait, so is Frailgator not getting Aqua Jet? :(

A thought I had
It really looks to me like they want more pokemon to be uber to balance out against all the legendaries we have now. If Blissy and Scizor go Uber, a lot of pokemon will be much better off now.
Blissey is the new Wobbofet.
Can you imagine Blissy trapping your special sweeper or your wall?
It turn into a waiting game, you'd never kill her.
Oh, AND she can power up while you are stuck and blocked, making herself a better wall :/
Blissy is going to have to go uber, though she won't replace Wobbufet.
Scizor having a 135 stab move is too much. 120 was bad enough. This might be the tip that pushes him over, though U-turn will still be used.
Both of these getting sent to uber will provide for a much deeper metagame, allowing for more diverse walls and offense pokemon. Weavile will be very prominent once Scizor is gone, because then Heatran will fall. Plus, Weavile can OHKO Heatran now with low kick.
Dragonite needed a boost.
And a lot of other boost were much needed.
The only thing we needed more of were rapidspinners. Hopefully, whirlwind will blow away debree next game. This I would like to see.

I've seen Feraligatr with Aqua Jet.

CRACHiC, I think you expect too much from Nintendo. As seen by Brawl unbalancedness, Ninty doesn't give a crap about what the competitive players want.

Blizzey @ Leftovers
252 Def / 252 SpAtk / 4 SpDef
Calm Mind
Block
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt

I can see Whirlwind (or Low Kick?) blowing away Spikes, but not Stealth Rock.

No, Feraligatr actually gets Aqua Jet as an egg move. The Aqua Jet thing for Azumarril was for this fake Move Tutor thing.

Too bad after Blissey powers itself up, you can always send in something with Close Combat to kill her. And even if she had block, she'd suffer from 4 moveslot syndrome. Block/Softboiled/CM/Attack would leave her vulnerable. Flamethrower makes her walled by Heatran, Ice Beam makes Crocune set up on her, and Thunderbolt lets any Ground-type come in and force her out.

Unfortunately for Scizor, it still has to deal with Zapdos, Rotom-H, Magnezone, Gyarados, and other Pokemon. That little bit won't make him unwalled by those Pokemon, and with Rotom as omnipresent as it is, it's not going to be doing that much sweeping. Even if you remove its counters, you can do that with any Pokemon to set up for a sweep.

Also, as we see players like Lain and ADHD slowly rise up, aren't we showing ourselves taht we are a little bit to quick to judge how balanced Brawl truly is? No one in the world would have predicted that the top three people at a large tournament would be a puff, peach, then puff 3 years ago in Melee, and no one would have predicted one of the top 3 Brawl players to be playing Diddy Kong, or for MK to get an even matchup, and Mew2King claim a matchup against MKs favor 3 months ago.
Can't touch this.

and with Rotom as omnipresent as it is
Rotom is going to be in a world of hurt now that Metagross has gravity.

Personally, I'm more worried about what Blissy can set up for others, and I was speaking about defensive set ups anyway.
Light Screen, Wish, Stealth Rock, Heal Bell, Sandstorm, Toxic, Safeguard, Rain Dance, Gravity, or Substitute if you are running a calm mind block blissy all great options while under a block.

I hate how a lot of the cool moves that made some of the more niche pokes unique get spread to the OU guys. Pinsir gets string shot (lol) and gengar gets magic coat and disable. I appreciate most of the changes they make but I don't get why they do things like that.

I haven't really played shoddy in a while but can someone tell me how Rotom is all of a sudden so good? I know he got new forms but what makes fire Rotom the second best fire poke?

Rotom is a prime example of how pokemon need to counter a pokemon to be good.
Rotom counters Metagross and Scizor, both amazing threats in OU.
He's the second best because of levitate, which basically gets rid of the earthquake weakness that holds fire types back.

Um. Kay.

Rotom's HP stat isn't fantastic,Pain Split will be used a lot, but it's not exactly the most reliable form of recovery.

Forretress got Pain Split too. That's...kinda kinda cruel if you think about it. Makes him an even bigger addition to stall teams. D:

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Walrein with super fang. Maybe...another option for the StallRein set? I see Froslass with pain split possibly being used too. Not extremely good, but it makes brightpowder slightly more usable on snow cloak abuser sets (leftovers is still preferred though, imo).

Will Waillord with Aqua Ring and Block become viable? His defense suck so I don't know.

I was using the damage calculater, and if this Aggron hits you with Head Smash while having focus band on, be in for a world of hurt. Of course, he is weak to earthquake, but if switches in one something that doesn't have earthquake, be ready for a world of hurt.
Even Arceus looses half its health assuming hull HP Evs and DF Evs.

If Blissy does go to Uber (as I think she will) there are a host of viable wall pokemon now to take her place, with Aqua Ring, Block, and Pain Split being handed out like no tomorrow. I'd imagine Vaporeon would become the new cleric.

I'm very interested to see how this changes things.

I'm going to enjoy my rock head smashing aggron.
Blast! You beat me to it! But yes, Aggron with STAB recoilless Head Smash is going to be very fun indeed... :chuckle:

I was a little surprised that Headbutt is such a common addition now. Though it could be a decent move for physical Pokemon with poor movesets like Flareon. Some Waters got Aqua Jet too. Feraligatr approves.

Corphish and Crawdaunt get Dragon Dance! I say that's a boost they seriously need.

I noticed that Blissey was getting Block. Seriously, Wobbuffet was bad enough...

The new movesets're looking good!

I was talking about Rotom being omnipresent for Scizor, not for Metagross. Besides, Metagross with Gravity still doesn't solve the bulky Water-type problems he has trouble with. The only way you're getting past those are CB Thunderpunch and Explosion.

You can't run Substitute with a CM set, as it leaves you with Block/CM/Sub/Softboiled. All of those other moves would leave Blissey with the usual role it does, Softboiled/Team Support/Block/Attack or status move. She STILL has 4 moveslot syndrome.

There's no way Blissey is going to uber, as the metagame is still physically based and she can't wall a "significant amount" of it. Even some special attackers can take care of her with Toxic or Explosion. If you're running Heal Bell to take care of Toxics, then you're running Softboiled/Heal Bell/Block/Attack or status move, which leaves you COMPLETELY susceptable to Taunt (not that Blissey already has problems with that already)

Blissey got better, but not good enough to be banned into Ubers.

Pain Split on Drifblim and Giratina (oh god) would be ridiculously good for a stall team considering their huge HP.
Pain split is better for pokes with lower HP because it averages your enemy's HP with yours. If you have a poke with a lot of HP use pain split you may not get what you hoped for. :(

Wait, it's for the value of HP and not the percentage? Oh. My mistake...

I know this, but Metagross could easily cause Rotoms trouble now, when previously Rotom was a true counter to Metagross.

Block/CM/Sub/Softboiled
You wouldn't need Softboiled for what I proposed.
Block a special sweeper or wall who can't hurt Bliss, substitute, calm mind behind substitute while recovering with leftovers, after 6 calm minds, and while still having a substitute up, hit them with your attack, which could be any number of things, and if your opponent no longer has a pokemon with a resistence to this attack, there is little they can do, they will hit the sub, and then will likely die. However, this is not what I would recommened or do personally. Defense Curl and Seismic Toss instead of anything with calm mind. After 6 defense curls, Blissy's defense will be equal to her special defense. Without any defense EVs, Blissy will survive a close combat with just 3 defense curls. with half HP left. With all 6 defense curls, the Blissy would survive with only about 1/4th her damage gone.

Block
Defense Curl
Soft Boiled
Seismic Toss

This makes it to where a successful defense curl Blissy can only be countered by two pokemon in the OU, Rotom and Dusknoir.
Even more than this, Blissy can now stall a pokemon to death, literally. Blissy could do this before, but you could always switch out. Block, soft boiled, protect against taunt, seismic toss.

Of course, we are going to have to see how this all works out in the metagame.
Personally, I'm more interested in seeing how choice band Agron is handled.

Blissey with Block goes like this:

-Blissey gets in on puny special attacks
-Opponent switches in a physical sweeper while Blissey uses Block
-Blissey is forced to switch out or be killed

What's everyone's thoughts on Meganium, pertaining to the movepool changes or just how he fares in battle. Still a good utility for UU, or what?

Just looking for some opinions from more experienced players than me.

I think that Relicanth is still a just as good as, if not better user of head smash than Aggron can be.

An attack Aggron with 31 IV's and 252 Atk EV's, with belly drum activated and choice band AND landing a critical deals
11988 damage
108981.82%
With Head Smash to a ledyba with a negative defense nature, level 1, -6 stages of defense and 0 IV's/ EV's

apparently

Can Relicanth say that? ...I don't think so...

(Edit: I probably got the calculation wrong somewhere but you get the point)

Wait, choice band belly drum Aggron? wut

That number is pretty impressive regardless, but I'm sure you could create a similar scenario with Relicanth.

Feraligatr w/ Swords Dance & Aqua Jet. Neato.
Dragonite is now a great option to use seeing as he learns Extremespeed and Superpower, as Salamence does not.
Even if Scizor gets a Hax move in Bug Bite, I still think Choice Band U-Turns are more useful. Although stealing Salacs or Liechis can be very scary...
Walrein w/ Aqua Ring... yay Stall.
Do they mention any new abilities? Because imagine if Forretress gets Intimidate...

Some Pokemon are in desperate need of new abilities.Like Regigigas and in my personal opinion,Flygon.
At least they could've given Regigigas Skill Swap to help out the poor thing.v ov

Honchkrow gets Brave Bird;very nice.:I
