Though the debate is pretty much over; I'll give some of my opinions.

Hacking right or wrong really depends on how you look at the game. If you are primarily an in-gamer or just a casual player in general, hacking in that sense would be wrong.

But then you get to those who play competitively over WiFi. Those that want to battle, not train. Perfectly fine in my opinion. Why? Because you're in the competitive area now, that is, as long as you're in the boudaries of the game. Skill=/= Time.

I honestly don't care that you have perfect pokemon by breeding or if you have perfect pokemon by hacking. Its just a pokemon that I want to take out regardless of it being hacked or legit. If you can't predict, you lose the game; with or without hacked pokemon. Rarely ever will a few IV points decide a game. As someone said earlier, it gets you to the arena quick, but once you're there, it won't help you at all.

And for the AR cost, A few days of time>$20.

I really need to find one sometime =/

idk but i feel like getting back into the debate.

action replay imo is fine. get rare candies, items, etc. its all good.

pokesav on the other hand is lame and disgusting. getting the perfect IVed, natured pokemon in under 5 minutes is unfair to the unfortunate people who play the game fair without any means of cheating.

even if pokesav saves a lot of time.

I dunno... It's pretty much impossible to get perfect stats without hacking. That wouldn't matter so much with certain Pokemon, but the metagame isn't as simple as it used to be--Pokemon aren't divided into sweepers and tanks anymore. You need good IVs in around 4 stats per Pokemon, which isn't very realistic without hacks. Well, in a nutshell, what I'm saying is that Pokemon without AR is a different game than one with it.

Good point.

it's always interesting to know what some people think are permissable and what isn't, people seem to vary in opinions soooo much.

Once again, making a pokemon shiny? No big.
Hacking items?
Eh, i guess that's ok.
i'm not too far against hacking unless someone does something they normally wouldn't be able to do.

although it isn't very fair to those who don't have access to hacking and whatnot.

I'm fine with hacking... To an extent. Getting all shineys, perfect IVs, infinite TMs.... That's all fine. Going past the 510 EV max, ability hacking, and stat altering isn't.

The only thing I've done with an AR, is Rare Candies, and TM's. Only as a means of convience. I don't have time to sit and grind to lvl 100 ( I work 40+hours a week, and I take night classes). I still EV train legit, and wouldn't even think about hacking a pokemon.

Granted, even what I'm doing is cheating, but in my defense, I don't have time like I used to. One day, you guys might understand. ;)

The are limits to the cheating and acceptance. Altering IVs, EVS, Moves etc I strongly oppose but doing little things to help you out is not a big deal. I would understand if you said pokesav because pokesav doesnt require any type of effort wha so ever and gives ppl a chance to get any moves 999 stats and wonderguard >.< . . . ON THE OTHER HAND using your AR to make eggs hatch 255 times faster is a must for me... I breed with regular pkmn i get from trades but I cant stand the time to breed, so I use AR to make me breed easier...that and easy TMs are the only cheats I use. Besides little things like that I agree that cheating = fail =]

I support AR if used appropliatley.
Say you need a Pokemon for your dream team and you just can't get it. You don't have Wi-Fi, you don't have the GBA games and none of your friends have one (Willing to give away). Then you can use Action Replay to get that Pokemon and you can train it how you see fit. I'd say using AR to make your Pokemon have perfect EV's, IV's n stuff is taking the fun out of the game, also catching them at high levels...

I'm with yoshi.
I'm with Yoshi. Using Action Replay and Pokesav to create pokemon within the boundaries set by the makers is perfectly fine.

So basically, it's ok AS LONG AS:
-No more than 510 total EVs
-No more than 255 EVs in any one stat
-Learning legit moves for the particular pokemon
(example of violation would be a Golem with Ice Beam)

I believe that having maxed IVs is perfectly fine.. No pun intended, but fighting with pokemon at the full potential is much funner. Why is this funner? Because it levels the playing field! Winning against someone merely because you happened to have a higher IV'd pokemon is no fun.. I'd like to win against someone not by pure genetics, but because of better battle strategy.

One could twist my argument into saying that we should take out critical hits. Applying my logic to critical hits is totally flawed. Without critical hits, repeatedly softboiling/recovering would become a stable tactic.. Such techniques could potentially break the metagame.

That's all I wanted to say. Thx for your time :)

Edit:
Here's an analogy.. Banning AR/Pokesav in Pokemon is like banning wavedash in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Why? Because doing either of these would seriously limit the competitiveness in either metagame.

If you're hacking to get automatically get a pokemon EV trained or to get them to learn a move that isn't illegal on them it's fine but getting a pokemon with 999 stats everywhere and moves it can't learn is what ticks me off.

I cheat too get pokemon i cant get normally. I dont get shiny pokemon with AR either. Or battle online OR cheat the stats OR give them moves they dont have normally.

Right...behind you...
As a friend of mine once said: "Everyone on the web seems to cheat their way to level 100, so either YOU cheat or you lose."
I know that there are people out there who don't cheat...but they probably lose a lot.

I hack my pokemon only to capture the ones I want and to speed up the EV training process as well as teach them moves without having to breed 50 times over. Why? Because it lets me get straight to battling. I don't see the harm as long as I don't tamper with game mechanics like giving them 999 stats or Aeroblast, Sacred Fire and whatever amazing uber move I want.

I have been having alot more fun with my Pearl Version of the game ever since I got AR. It enhances the replay value of the game. And Im satisfied I got it.
Flame me all you want but, me too. However all wildly insane pokemon of mine are strictly limited to single player battling.

Here is what I have to say about hacking (yay my first post here)

1- it is ok for stuff like unlimited items/berries/TM's

2- for resetting legendary events to recatch them for better IV's (Trio, Dialaga/Palkia, others)

3- for events that people that live in America cannot afford to go to or get legally (Shaymin/Arceus/Darkrai)

What it is not good for-

-Wonderguarding random stuff- that is only for one pokemon and it needs to stay on it....

-Illegal moves.... lets see, CBed, 252 atk, 31IV, Rock Head Head Smashing Aerodactyl. Would anyone want to go against this, as Steels still couldn't beat it at all due to it most likely having Volt Tackle/Brave Bird/Flare Blitz as well

-all 31's, I understand that many of us do not have the time or patience to breed a 31/X/31/31/30/26 or something poke, but it does frustrate the people who actually breed and get things like 31/31/31/0/31/31 pokes, when the "0" was in the wrong place, only to have AR people hack all 31's in a couple of seconds.

but AR is essential to the trading economy, as with the much safer, and quicker cloning cheat, it allows the many breeders with wifi to post their top things all over the internet, making the quality of everything better.

See, this fits in with chosen stupidity. They want to spend hours digitally riding on a bike? Fine by me; I just dont see why everyone else has to when both yield the same results. It's not like AR makes you a better trainer.

i support Action Replay pokemon. I dont put unrealistic stats on it. i almost never use all 31 IVs, and never more than 512 EVs. Its sort of like, how can u compete with all the ARs out there if you dont? thats one reason ,but my main is that battling and coming up with teams is the most fun part of pokemon IMO. i like to sit down and plan a team on paper, then make it and test it out. if part of it dosnt work, i can swap one out without wasting precious hours of my time to switch out a pokemon i trained so much.

o yea, and ss18, ur just as bad as everyone else for quoting that many times. that is the true essence of spam

Yeah I cheat some Pokemon, I DO EV train them or breed them for proper nature/power afterwards.

Hey, I wanted a Tyranitar, I really couldnt be arsed to get one in colosseum. So I used AR, caught myself a larvitar and began the chainbreed for a proper Dragondancing Larvitar.

No, I do care about cheating, and I will tell you why...

1 - Most hackers don't care about the true gamers, and they hack all the pokes they want...while I have to tear my *** looking for some Feebas, some n00b just hacks a level 100 Milotic EV trained, 31 IV all the stats, etc...do they have some bad experiences with legendary pokemons...?
Where is the point on hacking a Darkrai? For what?

2 - Same with items...while I have to battle all the day to find a Dusk Stone with Pickup, some n00b just get it with a code...and then, the ***s brag it up to you...''Hehe, I have 999 repels''
I told him: ''Hehe, you lost precious time of your life hacking a useless item, *******''

3 - Where is my effort playing...? Some guy that could not get Tyranitar in Colosseum just takes its AR and goes hack it...no offense here, but if you cant get Tyranitar in Colosseum, you suck...I mean, you passed all trials, all the hard thing, and then, you cant get a single pokemon?? If it was hard, where was your masterball? You used it up in a skiploom?
I had a ****ing hard time getting the Tyranitar, so if you couldnt get it, isnt better to try it again like a decent gamer does? No
Go hack the thing...

...Here we go again...

Well...maybe that one's on the more extreme side, but yeah.

Basic Pro-Hack / retort:
See, this fits in with chosen stupidity. They want to spend hours digitally riding on a bike? Fine by me; I just dont see why everyone else has to when both yield the same results. It's not like AR makes you a better trainer.
The whole thing apparently boils down to a "it's not fair cause I put in more effort" sort of thing.

This is my solution. I guess it's not right to say "my," but you get the point. I used to whine about hackers until I dl'd shoddy. Now, I don't give a crap if you hack. Shoddy owns.

Seriously. With shoddy:
-You can have any moveset
-Your pokes can have (pretty much) any item
-You can make any pokemon WITH MAXED IVs / any Hidden Power
-Battles are easier to find
-Battles are faster (no animations and all)
-You can save logs
-...there's probably even more I can't think of at the moment :p

What's better is that both players have all of these benefits.

On a closing note,
COMMONYOSHI!!!!!
