Yo.

Just wanted to ask everyone.

How's the Smash scene in the GTAN right now? For Brawl or Melee? Thriving? Tourneys? Dead? Need to know if it's worth investing my time in to to travel or if I should redirect my time and attention else where.

Also, what's this Nintendo hype at E3 all about? I didn't hear a thing. Someone wanna fill me in?

it's alright. we may have just started up some biweeklies. (i mean, hopefully they continue to be hosted that often)

and...remakes of old (good) games...and i think they gave more information on 3ds. which is somehow 3d without any 3d glasses.

3DS. That is all. I'm so hyped for this handheld but it'd probably be close to a year before it comes out in America.

Bryan Puccia, known to most of us smashers as Bry or Kanto, has been the spark of our Syracuse smash community since August 2009, when he announced his first tournament here on the boards. Since then, he has succeeded in bringing Syracuse, Rochester, Albany, and Buffalo (+ others) into one unified community that has improved both in skill and bond by amounts too great to describe in words. His last tournament, Syracuse Smash 2, brought in top tier competition from locations as varied as Canada, Massachusetts, and New Jersey for both Brawl and Melee. Despite extreme difficulties including a power outage at the original venue, he persevered and managed to create a spectacular event at the last second that proved to send everyone home very happy and satisfied with their weekend's tournament experience.

To the great dismay of everyone who had the honor of knowing him, on Tuesday, May 25th, Bry suffered a heart attack while swimming at the beach, and is no longer with us. A great many of the members of the Upstate NY Smash community traveled to Syracuse to pay their respects, and even more members of this website posted their condolences, he will surely be missed. by many. At the wake, it touched all of us just how many people knew about us and just how important our community and smash as a whole was in Bry's life, it was extremely touching to hear.

Toy Story 3

It was much better than what I expected. Lotso was such a great villain. So suspicious when you first meet him, the strawberry scent was such a cute touch. The caterpillar room was kind of obvious as to what was going to happen. I don't remember being so violent with my own toys but I guess I didn't really go to daycare either. And when I did I played with stuffed, fluffy things because they were soft. Like Lotso.

Factory... I really wish Lotso died. I mean, because it's Toy Story he can't actually die. I don't recall a major Toy Story character ever kicking the bucket. Sid's toys took their revenge on him, the Prospector got trapped with a valley girl forever, etc. Perhaps I've become more bitter, or Lotso was easier to hate than the Prospector, but I wasn't satisfied with his comeuppance. I guess there's a cruel irony in how he'll be loved forever by some garbage guy and never be replaced, but I really wish the incinerator just burned a hole in his stomach and worms ate him. Seriously.

The martians are amazing. The claw was cute. Obvious, but cute.

I didn't really feel there was a scene with the same creative interaction with their identity as toys as this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA9Mz2nN81Q#t=25s and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA9Mz2nN81Q#t=2m20s and it sort of missed out on that.

Entire movie was made complete by the Buzz transformation. And Woody's note at the end.

Pretty good movie.

Kind of random, but I can't have people stay over on Thursday, nor can I stay up late with people on Thursday. Work on Friday. And I need sleep to function there and my boss has personally expressed to me his utmost dislike of tardiness after I showed up a minute late (I consulted their clock and my iPod; my iPod said I was 2 minutes late, their clock said 1).

Wednesday works better for me. If people want to come over tomorrow, that would be easier. We'd be in the basement since my Dad has my brothers over but it's livable now so w/e.

It sounds like tomorrow's too short notice and everyone will fail to come anyways.

Just do Thursday again and people leave at like midnight/let me sleep at midnight? I'll play TP tomorrow and watch movies or something...

so brendan, kirsty, another person none of you know, and i, made a "how good are they ACTUALLY" tier list for all the melee characters. meaning, how good are all these characters based on their own games, and then kind of vague generalizations from there (for instance, peach is bottom tier because what the hell would she do in a fight?) i probably don't agree with all of it, but:

-TOP TIER-
Ganondorf
Mewtwo
Samus

-HIGH TIER-
Marth
Roy
Pikachu
Link
Fox
Falco
Young Link
Captain Falcon
Ness

-MID TIER-
Sheik
Zelda
DK
Kirby
Bowser
Mario
Dr. Mario

-LOW TIER-
Luigi
Jigglypuff
Yoshi
Ice Climbers

-BOTTOM TIER-
Pichu
Mr. Game and Watch
Peach

Mewtwo, Ganon, Samus, Ness, and basically anyone else that can destroy the planet should be in their own tier.

Zelda is a point of debate. Triforce of Wisdom has random powers sometimes in some games. Peach is a point of debate. She has magic powers she just never uses them. Because she's a woman. Mario is point of debate. Star Spirits and other stuff are gay.

i dunno, i don't see peach having much in the way of powers.

zelda, though, i tried to argue should be higher. her powers seem a bit less than link and ganondorf's, but she has a triforce, and you get the sense that she is magically gifted as well and just never uses her powers.

mario was also contended a lot. he just doesn't seem that extraordinary, really.

okay, sorry, for pokemon you can include the anime a bit. i mean, you have to be somewhat vague with it. like for fox and falco we assumed they had some sort of intensive training (since they can't fly around in their ships to fight or anything, and that's most of what they do in their games).

Both the melee and brawl scene are pretty good. Decent amount of people.
