consider mregen seals for rammus to take away the dependency on golem and allow other teammates to have it. you will find yourself short of manna especially if u choose to spec on the defense utility later on

One of the things that has been happening recently to me when playing tanks is this:

Ally DPS: Rammus/Shen, tank!
Me: not a good time to tank
Ally DPS: you suck

I'm all for tanking and dying for the team if I'm confident we can win the team fight and push afterwards. But when we don't know their numbers and are out of position, I'm not going to die for you.

Oh wells.

people are just bad at this game and don't actually understand how it works. I still remember a game where I got obliterated top as Ezreal vs. Sion and my whole team jumped on my *** for losing the matchup like Ezreal has more than a snowball's chance in hell vs. a competent Sion (spoiler alert: sion obliterates just about everyone on top lane).

Yes. He is mad underrated. Dphat has a nasty Sion too.

My thread is rolling along nicely. I think I might make a habit of doing these "Riot Designers: TOPIC" threads when they come to mind. I speak their language so hopefully I can get people talking in an intelligent fashion instead of "ZOMG SO OP" or "WOW RIOT SO MUCH FAIL!" in every thread.

woah, just realized that almost everyone here is a mod or admin
it makes me feel really small :c

also i want nurse akali and sheriff cat :p
A single interesting Akali skin would be nice. Are they ever actually going to implement that skin?

I've been maining her about 90% of the time since a month after she came out and still don't like any of her skins.

Also, on the note of constructive threads on the riot boards, they need to put flashcancel back into the game, it was so pro and indeed the only summoner spell that required any skill to use effectively. I prefer precision and skillcurve abilities over autotargeted stuns, dots, etc. People with noskill QQ too much on the forums, So good luck at getting any competitive jargon through to Riot without people screaming in caps lock in your thread.

flashdodge was an arbitrary and silly mechanic that was long overdue for being removed. Flash is still plenty powerful without it too. And in 90% of the use cases, I would argue that flashdodging hardly counts as skillful (oh **** they noticed me, the ranged carry, in a teamfight, I guess I'll reposition even further behind my ****ing tanks, whoops guess I dodged all the **** that was gonna kill me too, spray and pray gg). The timing on stuff like Cleanse/Exhaust is every bit as important as the timing on flash and I daresay that flash had a larger timing window at which it was an effective choice back when it also dodged than it does now.

I fail to see how it was arbitrary that Flash dodged projectiles. It made good sense that a teleport would dodge an incoming projectile. There was nothing arbitrary about it. I also disagree with you on the skill it added to have to decide when and how to flash. I know it was small, but there was a little bit of thought there that made you think "do I flash right away? Do I flash when I see the projectile incoming? Do I run into the bush and juke with a dash?" The less vision you had on the map, the more decisions you had to make about Flash and since its on such a long cooldown, making the decision is important for sure. I know it doesn't add as much thought or skill as say Wavedashing in Melee or RRx in Halo 2, but its SOMETHING. Riot shouldn't be removing skill-based choices when they already have so few.

it's completely arbitrary. Kassadin's Riftwalk, Ezreal's Arcane Shift and Kat's Shunpo are all instant blinks that don't dodge projectiles. Flash was the exception, not the rule and it was completely arbitrary and stupid.

The decision making process with flash at the moment is very much the same except now you no longer have a defensive ace in the hole with Flash up. What I mean by this is that prior to flashdodge being removed, if I'm sion and I had flash and you, my target, had flash, my flash could not counter your flash being used defensively. In fact, there was no way to counter it, there was no way to get my cryptic gaze to hit because it's projectile speed was so damn slow. Flash dodging honestly only REALLY benefited people in 2 situations:
1. ranged carries in teamfights (ranged carries are already too strong and don't need more help)
2. the sion situation I described above where it favors the defensive player, which if I recall correctly is something you just devoted a large amount of time to writing a post against

I just don't get why people thought that flash dodging was a good thing. People talk about the skill involved like it's mechanically difficult or if it makes sense to add yet another benefit to players who simply have better internet connections and reaction times (and don't take this as personal QQ, my inet and reaction time are both quite good, I could flash dodge damn near anything). I'll always maintain that it was the biggest problem with flash and I'm much much happier with it gone than I was with it around.

Well aside from the Udyr changes, didn't seem like much. Garen got some minor extra base damage, but that didn't fix his lategame scaling problem they wanted to address. Besides the champs they clearly were going to change, you had nothing new but minor changes on Pantheon, Malzahar and Kat. For a patch said to be orientated on a lot of buffing, this seems quite mild.

New champ looks like fun. Willing to spend RP on her for sure. I like the tricksies you can do with her net and the ability to snipe kills. Not gonna lie. I'm definitely gonna troll JUST a little bit with her.

@Mogwai, I know its not mechanically hard, but I liked the interaction it provided. That is all. You are right that I am a proponent of more active play, but removing flash dodge doesn't make for more active play. It actually leaves you more vulnerable so you are probably less likely to extend. Higher risk for no increased reward reduces my incentive to push. It will probably mean a few more successful ganks in mid, but competent players in top lane fight near the brush anyways so its not having that big of an impact overall.

The Cassi changes are okay, but not spectacular. I've actually been enjoying a bit of Cassi as of late since she has a couple of attributes I like in my characters. But I haven't played her in Ranked yet even though I know I can do well, because I don't think I can do well enough yet. I don't think the changes she's getting will make her more viable in Ranked, but I DO think the combination of the buffs + new AP items will actually work.

And I can finally get a new selection of items when playing AP characters. It only took them an entire year to implement a new non-spell vamp, non-hybrid AP item.

EDIT: Also, CDR boots are my new favorite item. So cheap (550 on top of boots 1) for such a wonderful stat <3.

no rage this time, just pics.

before anyone questions my assists: the reason they are low is because i usually scored over half of my team's kills alone. everyone else died in team fights.

can someone give me some advice on how to play Sivir lategame? I'm really unfamiliar (read: bad) at team battles and I have no idea what Sivir should do other than clear creeps with ricochet and harass with boomerang.

I've been going like 3-2 or something decent until late game when I just start dying and ****. any advice?

re patch notes: oh good, a pantheon buff, thanks a ****ing lot riot, I was starting to worry that people might maybe start banning other champs, but thankfully I'll have another full 2 weeks of seeing Pantheon's pretty mug in the banned section in every game.

Garen buff is quite sizable. He's not where he was pre-patch but he should at least be playable again (that nerf was seriously the worst I'd ever seen).

No idea what to make of the udyr situation

Olaf buff seems sufficient.

No comment on kat or cass.

Black Cleaver is probably pretty darn good now.

Ward changes are weird and I still don't get why they were even changed in the first place (who the **** cares that ranged DPS kill wards the best, they also push the best and deal sustained damage in teamfights the best... who the **** cares that they kill wards the best? why does riot even bother with such a ****ing non-issue?).

PD buff is nice as are Wit's End and Will of the Ancient's buffs.

CDR boots are probably good depending on cost.

Both Z-Ring replacements are absurdly good and you'll see a lot of both of them in caster builds.

I'm sorry but you really seem to offer up conflicting opinions on what encourages aggressive play. When convenient to whatever argument you're making, you'll state that increasing risk (i.e. increasing ward times to increase jungling risk) will promote aggressive gameplay, yet you refute my point about flash saying that by making flash less of a get out of jail free card, it promotes safer and more boring play. This seems entirely contradictory to me, you don't seem to have any sort of consistent criteria for what drives gameplay in the direction you're aiming for unless I'm missing something.

Sure you'll have to get on when we don't have a million people on who want to play though :p

Our dedicated group is growing to the point where we're gonna have to start getting one group to play 3s while another plays 5s. o.o

As for the changes, I like the fact that nukers got a significant buff in the form of the zhonya's rework.

Karthus with Archangel's, Mejai's, void staff, zhonya's 1 and 2, and those CdR boots.

Oh my yes.
