I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that the John Wick movies are among the best action movies of all time, especially the second one.
I mean....if you like mindless dumb action, then yes. The only thing the John Wick movies have done extremely well are the fights and action. Ultimately the franchise is pretty hollow though. Doesn't really matter though, they're kinda designed to be.

Movies? I just saw Avengers Endgame on Monday and that was great. I've still yet to see Shazam! despite how much I love Zachary Levi, so that will likely happen fairly soon as well. John Wick Chapter 3 is an absolute must given how much I've enjoyed the first two. Godzilla King of Monsters will absolutely something I have to see as well. I'm a sucker for big Kaiju related material and it has been ages since the first one in this franchise came out and if it can live up to that one, I'll be ecstatic.

Detective Pikachu I'm likely to see, but I'm also just kind of apathetic to the movie's existence. I know it's a big deal for a lot of people and might be the first video game movie in a while to do something right... But I just can't be convinced to care all that much...

Frankly, I'm not much of a movie buff at all. The new Godzilla looks pretty cool, but I dunno if I'd go out of my way to see it. I do enjoy me some Kaijus, don't get me wrong, but I'm more of a casual fan than anything.

I'll be watching Detective Pikachu later this month with my buddy, though. That oughta be a cool time.

I wouldn't really call a movie with the choreography, staging, and photography of John Wick mindless, but different strokes for different folks.

kinda on topic(deals with mario RPG games in general) what would everyone's reaction be if Nintendo created a new mario rpg game where it was closer to a parody of typical RPG troupes just with mario and gang? IE, mario and his allies wear metal , cloth, or leather armor, use swords and more typical magic spells? But of course it would look cartoony.

I remember reading that originally square's rough concept for SMRPG was like this, but the quickly switched over to what we have now.

I think it would be cool if it switched its style a bit, but I would prefer it stay the same lol.

Mario's sword shall always be his hammer!

I'm seeing the first movie of the Nintendo cinematic universe on Thursday. It's going to be a good one. I'll let you all know if Geno is in it.

Eh... maybe it's just me, but I'd really prefer for the Mario RPGs to retain their unique aesthetic and charming atmosphere rather than convert to the generic high fantasy setting most RPGs have. I've seen it done a million times across different forms of media, and I'm frankly sick of it. If anything, straying away from high fantasy is what I appreciate the Mario RPGs for most. Seeing Mario don a Zelda-esque sword and shield in the next RPG would sicken me, personally. It'd just feel... wrong, y'know?

That could be fun if they take the chance to get in some good-spirited jabs at JRPG tropes. I want Nomura-designed Mario please and thank you.

Damn, you haven't watched a movie since 2013?
Yeah , I'm not a movie guy at all. And in my current situation , I don't have much time to watch movies , so I rather focus on video games and art.

Granted , Bloody Fate was awesome.

Btw look at this precious boy (Uh , is this considered censor dodging ? Damn Ovaltine , why can't you have a family friendly name :^)

So I don't see any talks about Super Smash Bros. official youtube account here. It seems like they uploaded something.
People are talking about this since yesterday. Is this only Japan thing? I'm not sure.

Edit:
I'm talking about this channel.

Apparently this account only used for new fighter's reveals and those short introduction videos.
This was found about 27 hours ago.
Crossposting from newcomer speculation and Square thread. Looks like our next character is on the horizon. Soon, this wild ride will finally be over.

Pretty much, yeah. Given DQ Day is this month, along with SMRPG's NA anniversary... I dunno, I have an :ultinkling: that Erdrick is our rep with Geno's Mii costume returning. Even though I've already accepted Geno's probably not in the Fighter's Pass, and even though I've come to appreciate and like Erdrick (especially Femdrick, damn she cute), I'm kinda dreading the day. I'd be a good sport about it, of course, and all of you better well be the same if that scenario comes to pass, but... yeah, it'll still sting a lot.

That said, it'll also be nice to have the band-aid off and be able to speculate a little more freely again. I'm dying to put the 'Brave' mystery behind us.

Wait I'm confused. Didn't Fatmanonice mention Polar's source saying something about Brave being at E3 tied to reveals that'd outshine the character?

Well, with E3 on the horizon, it's only natural the Youtube channel is getting prepped in advance for the next character trailers.

Yeah, but a whole month in advance? That seems a little unnecessary to me.

what it looks like to me.

Did you just subscribe to check it out, or were you a subscriber to the channel prior? If the former, that's probably why you have no notification. If the latter, then... hmm. I dunno. Maybe it was something uploaded too early and then removed.

It isn’t difficult to upload to YouTube, it shouldn’t be a full month in advance if it was for e3. While I’m sure they have a lot of videos to upload for e3, it seems odd to do so this early.

Although I can see where you are coming from, and this COULD mean a new fighter is coming this month, this wouldn't be the first time they updated the playlist early.

Someone correct if I am wrong, but they also uploaded Ken and incineroar's newcomer trailers back in October that would eventually be the November Direct reveals. That video was added to the Japanese playlist and were made unlisted, just like this case. That being said, it could mean a reveal this month, it could also mean they finished the newcomer trailer and wanted to add it to the playlist early.

Wouldn't announcing a character a month before E3 be kind of weird? Unless the reasoning is "this character isn't worth it enough to announce during E3" why would they do it?

I mean...that very well could be the reason. Not to sound mean about our favorite star warrior, but if they had two characters they wanted to announce from now to e3, who’s gonna make the biggest impact? Banjo or Geno? If they announce geno now close to smrpg’s usa anniversary, it ensures banjo gets all the press for e3, and not worry about geno lessening the impact of that announcement while still getting both in. Cuz let’s be honest, a banjo announcement is like brawl sonic levels of internet breaking, nintendo would want to milk that for all it’s worth.

For all we know Brave could be a first party, so perhaps it could tie into a game reveal?

Also maybe this is still all for E3 and the conference starts with a character reveal that goes into several announcements, then ends with a quick Banjo announcement? I dunno.

Honestly, I don't think either of them are in competition for impact. People have been begging for Geno for years, don't forget. The Genobros are still out there. And let's be real, Banjo is going to get a ****-ton of applause regardless of the circumstances of his reveal. He's freaking Banjo-Kazooie. Every N64 kid knows who he is just like every SNES kid knows who Geno is.

I’m just trying to look at it how nintendo might. Also being announced close to the smrpg American anniversary would make so much sense.

Maybe instead of lessening banjos impact though, it could be they want genos announcement to actually be noticed( so the opposite basically) if banjo gets all the press and then they’re like “ oh btw, here’s geno too” no one would really pay attention to him much but us.

Ok. If it just so happens to be Geno. I think Banjo is a lock for E3. Geno is a hardcore fan pick. Which will make it look like the fighter pass will be targeting more hardcore smash fans.

I don’t think there’s a way to know whatsoever. For all we know we could get Claus, Conker, Mallow, and Klonoa in the pass.

I guess it’s still the waiting game.

I mean, if Banjo isn't a hardcore fan pick because he would represent a part of the N64 era, then neither would Geno be since he would represent the Mario RPGs and part of the SNES era.

Already brought this up in the Social Thread and it likely applies to stuff outside of Nintendo as well, but it is still worth noting due to the video update from the Smash Bros. Youtube channel.

So..there is so much they want to talk about that they can't fit into E3? Yikes this might be an amazing E3.

There's just no way you can realistically say that every SNES kids know Geno is. Super Mario RPG released 4 months before the N64 released and at the tail end of the SNES's overall life span and he's one of five main characters as party members in the game as opposed to Banjo Kazooie, which are the sole playable duo in their games and also appeared multiple times throughout the N64's life cycle. Not to mention, the N64 sold around 32 million units and the first Banjo Kazooie sold around 5 million copies which puts us at about a 1/6th of all N64 owners owning the game. Super Mario RPG sold around 2 million copies on a system with a player base of about 50 million, which is a much smaller fraction at 1/25th. And Banjo was additionally positioned as one of the main advertisements of the N64 era at least so he could be more well known. But there's no way that "every SNES kids know who Geno is" or even close.

He's a popular character in Smash speculation and Super Mario RPG was an important game in many ways, and I know many of us really love him and want him in, but lets not oversell Geno that much for crying out loud.

Also, maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I think a Banjo Kazooie reveal won't do much good for our chances. If they've gone through the process of securing quite possibly the most difficult fan demand from Microsoft of all people, I could very easily see Nintendo just consider themselves done with fan demand after such a success... And I honestly wouldn't be able to blame them. I'm not saying that's how it will happen, or that it makes Geno impossible further down the line, but I could see it really hurting Geno's chances when they've chosen the fan pick for the ages (And Microsoft working with Nintendo in general and on Smash is a much bigger deal and important narrative than Square Enix and Nintendo deciding its time for Geno).

Completely agreed. I love Geno to bits, to BITTY bits, but he's really not that much in the grand scheme of things. He's a side protagonist for a one-off Mario RPG. Sure, it was the one that started it all, and yes, he is a memorable fan favorite, but it cannot be emphasized enough that this is all that he is. He isn't nearly that big of a deal, especially not as much as freaking Banjo.
