I don't think Polar's source has said anything of the sort. I'm pretty sure Polar's assuming this is likely because of their rapport with other insiders and what their sources have been saying. They aren't all in, at any rate.

That's the point, believing in one Source just because it suits for us? Because it's, better for us?

I don't believe in any leaks cuz of my own phylosophy, but I don't see it logical to believe in one guy instead of a lot of guys who have a good.... trajectory?

It's why I included sales numbers. So even if they were revealed without being leaked people would be like "oh well that makes sense" I wouldn't call them shocking like Joker. It's more of the hindsight affect. Sure we may not think about it before hand. But it makes completely sense when you do see it. So you aren't exactly surprised. Joker still has the "wait why? What?" Feeling to him. Which makes me think he was a good choice. You seriously can't tell me with how much SE tries to promote SE in Japan and how often Nintendo and Microsoft partner up for Minecraft that it would make the characters a complete shock and surprise.

It sounds like this post was made entirely because of the hindsight affect and some personal bias. Just because you wont feel Erdrick and Minecraft are Joker level hype does not mean other people will. In fact, Minecraft will definitely blow the world's mind because it's Minecraft we're talking about. It is the biggest indie game to ever touch the scene. Plus the boards have shown that there are a bunch of dedicated DQ fans and people who recently tried out the series and enjoyed it. You're underestimating how meaningful Erdrick is, and I'm ignoring Japan when I say this. Furthermore, this entire Smashboard thread is a very niche handful of the Smash fanbase who know all of this insider baloney. Our grasp of the shock value is nowhere near the ignorance of someone who just does not keep up with this stuff, which is the majority of the fanbase.

The hindsight argument makes no sense. You can still be flabberghasted at how a newcomer is real an acknowledge it makes some degree of sense. Otherwise, literally no newcomer would be hype. Persona 5 is the biggest RPG in 2017 and the Persona and SMT series has been alive and kicking for decades. Plus since, Nintendo had the connections, why not? It's recognizable, enjoyable, but it's not entirely known and enjoyed by everyone. Sounds familiar right? Probably because DQ kind of fits that bill but in a way more revolutionary way. It doesn't mean everyone will like it though. Some people don't have to be Street Fighter fans to appreciate Ryu. Hell, some people just didn't buy Ryu according to what people have recently said. It's DLC. Saying some people wont buy it is natural because some people will not. I don't think any game has universal appeal to where everyone and their grandma is going to buy it. Otherwise, we wouldn't have different game companies and consoles.

The mention of Megasmilax in Piranha Plant's Guidance conversation made me realize that DLC characters (or at least this one) are actually getting Palutena's Guidance conversations, unlike Smash 4!

Just think, if they decided against making Guidance conversations for DLC characters, we wouldn't even have a mention of Megasmilax.

I don't think leakers would go out of their way to BS stuff. If it isn't Erdrick for some reason (although I'm pretty sure it is), then the leakers were just as mislead as we were.

Sometimes, I think some legit leakers toy around with us to see our reactions towards their words just to get a few laughs out of it. There was no reason for Verge to outright deconfirm Isaac to disappoint his fans. He should have let that deconfirmation came out naturally.

Sadly I cannot remember a time were actual leakers got leakbaited.

I see Erdrick Coming, I don't see Erdrick being Brave, I don't see Steve Coming.

If Steve and Erdrick both make it in over Banjo & Kazooie and Geno, all hope is lost.

That's... debatable considering how Yooka-Laylee went. I think if they can get a large budget, though, they could fine-tune it the way it'd deserve. Remember that Y-L, while not a masterpiece, had a comparatively small budget. There was only so much they could accomplish with what little they had.

As for a remake, Rare has already gone on record to say that a remake is out of the question. If we get anything, we'll get a brand-new game entirely.

That kinda sucks since they remade Conker.

As for Y-L, yeah I've seen the backlash it received; I haven't played it myself so I can't really judge it, I just think it looks nice but they'll never replace the Bear & Bird.

tbh steve is an amazing example of how an indie game can become something huge rather then just kinda sitting there

If we get no DLC outside of Fighter's Pass, it pretty much destroys their chances. If we get more DLC beyond Fighter's Pass, it does hurt their chances, but it doesn't completely annihilate them.

I haven't bought the Fighter's Pass yet. I'm honestly not opposed to most potential fighters, but I'm still not entirely sold on it.
So, I've got New Rules, I'll count 'em:

1. If Geno and/or Phoenix Wright are in, I'll buy the whole thing.
2. If Geno and Phoenix AREN'T in, but I like at least 3/5 characters (the majority), I'll buy the whole thing. (Joker is 1, so I need at least 2 more.)
3. If a character at least looks fun, I'll willing to give them a chance and count it towards my requirements.
4. If only 2/5 or just Joker are all I like, I'll only buy the individual packs.

Man, waiting for DLC is getting me restless. I wasn't this into speculation during Smash 4. I gave up Smash 4 speculation once the 3DS version came out, so every DLC character was a surprise, including the datamined Roy and Ryu. Here, I think I'll stick around for the entire ride.

I'm not buying the fighters pass. I'm getting the DLC individually. And I'll probably only get the character if I am supporting them or if they are either of my most wanted.

I feel for the Xenoblade fans. They are big enough to have an apology in a direct for not having Rex playable. But not big enough to actually get Rex playable and probably no DLC.

Then why did you ever buy the Pass in the first place? I'm seriously questioning why a number of people bought the pass and then seem disappointed with it when they bought it on limited knowledge that basically anything could show up. "Faith" isn't an actual reason. You have two options with the Fighters Pass. Either you buy it because you know you want a full roster no matter what or you wait til you see the contents.

At the end of the day; Smash is a MASCOT fighter.... which is personality based. If Sakurai had Banjo and Steve in front of him as options; I'm not sure he would pick Steve. I guess it all depends on if both made it to Sakurai's list.

Minecraft is the much larger series though. Smash isn't really just a MASCOT fighter by any stretch of the imagination at this point, we've moved well past that in the past few iterations as we've introduced more characters from different series. The difference comes down to which franchise do they want to represent more; The gargantuan powerhouse of Minecraft, or the beloved classic 90's Banjo? You'd pick one or the other for vastly different reasons.

And it seems they were completely justified seeing as how much Brave blew up and Nintendo nuked the code out of the game. They also pretty much have to hold information back so sources don't get in trouble/they can continue getting information.

Figuring out what information to divulge and what not to show is like the main job of a leaker. Being completely upfront about everything would make you a bad leaker and you'd never get informants, so yeah, makes sense.

If we get Erdrick and Steve along with Joker, I'll only be buying Joker, and the jury's out on the last two. I figure it this way: buying the fighter's pass is only worth it if you like four or five or the challenger packs. Five will save you five dollars, four will be like getting an extra character for free. Three or less makes it just a waste of money for no good reason, because then, you're paying ten dollars more than you should be, when you could just be spending the fifteen to get what you want and leave it at that.

So, my conclusion: if we get Erdrick and Steve, the fighter's pass is already not worth the money for me, because that's two out of five that I don't have an attachment to. It'd be a waste of my precious dollars.

I feel like Rex would've actually been a given if it wasn't for the timing. Sakurai made it pretty clear that that was the only reason since he liked XC2 and XC2 sold pretty well and Xenoblade is a growing franchise that could use the promotion pretty well.

Let this be a lesson to be careful with your money. If you had funds from a gift card, add them to your Switch funds and only spend it if you're positive about your purchase. Money is a luxury that you can't take lightly. I've been homeless before; I know how precious every dollar is.

Please, please, as someone with not a lot of money to her name whose struggle to even have a roof over her head was crazy, listen to me when I say... be careful with every penny you have.
