I have no idea what’s going, but I will put my input from someone who has been in both the General & Geno threads. I can say for the most part the Geno thread is much more calmer than the General thread. I mean the first time I came upon it people were talking about their love of pies and cheesecake. In the many discussions EarlTamm and I have had they are always pleasant and not aggressive. Also AugustusB has made sure to make me feel welcome so I have to say this thread is much calmer. I do understand DaybreakHorizon point though, it’s hard to understand what’s going on unless you hop in the Geno thread. I also agree perhaps there should be another thread for insider information so it’s not hard to understand what’s going on. I can understand why people might not want to go to the General thread. I myself have always been treated kindly. However I know there are cases such as Graizen being bullied. This generally does not happen though, but if it were to put everyone at ease perhaps there should be another thread made. That’s not my call and if this information continues to stay on the Geno thread I will understand that’s the insiders choice and I will respect it.

Maybe Kirby, Legend of Zelda or...well, idk about anything else, except maybe Luigi's Mansion or something lol.

I personally think it'd be cool if they had a crossover JRPG, so it'd be like Smash Bros. with all the different franchises. Also, one like this except it's in the style of Pokemon, so with Pokemon battles; I imagine some common enemies such as Goombas becoming Pokemon, although since some Goombas talk plus there are developed Goomba characters (and other characters built upon a certain species), admittedly it may be weird...

I think the main thing is that people are used to the way things are in this thread, and you're suggesting we stop it, and calling in the mods. People are always going to react aggressively when someone threatens something they care about. I know that wasn't your intention, but that's kind of how it came across. For the record, we regularly discuss the square rep with people who think it won't be Geno and mostly don't have any problems. This thread doesn't usually get upset so quickly.

I'm sorry if you feel attacked, but you're the one who is threatening to call the mod police because of a brief side conversation about another character (like 2 pages of the 450+ in this thread).

Except I never even said I'd call the mods or anything. I just said that off-topic posting is against the rules. That's it. If you think I called Cyndane for that I did it to ask about getting a leak thread back up so that this could all of the insider information, both relating to SE and not relating to it, could be in one place. I never made any threats and if you believe I did then I apologize for not making my points clearer.

To elaborate on the idea.
I'd like it to be more about turn and action management than anything else.
For example, having to juggle what you need to do to keep going. Like having to use a turn to heal but not being able to afford it since you need to lay pressure. You can have X heal Y, but it would take its actions for the turn and you need one of them do a specific action as to not lose control of the flow in the battle.

I did really enjoy those discussions, by the way. It did help clarify some things on my side at least. And when it comes to the leaks being here, I think it's fine for the most part. For about 90% of the time, the leaks were about the Square rep and thus were always relating to the discussion of Geno and such. When it comes to things outside of that, then I can understand a bit, but considering this is the biggest Square related discussion thread on the board and the fact that the leakers are pro-dominantly among the Geno community, it just feels natural for it to be here.

Geno and Banjo showing up as the first two would be enough for me to get the fighters pass.
All five choices are literally the greatest.
1. The most requested Square character for almost two decades
2. The most requested Rare/Microsoft character for almost two decades
3. A highly requested Bandai character for over a decade
4. A Mother rep since we didn't get one in Smash 3DS/Wii U
5. A highly requested Kirby character, mostly in Japan, and we haven't had a new Kirby rep since Brawl/A highly requested Donkey Kong character that was cut from Brawl and Smash 4.

And then due to the high success of that wave because all of those characters are unique and are selling so well cause of the fans happiness, we then get a wave 2 with Isaac joining the roster! (I like to dream)

All of the above: he looks cool, he's a very respectful and I don't know... professional being, the game is underrated and he has great moveset potential, even said by Sakurai himself. To bring him back into the spotlight after 20+ years MIA is the icing on the cake.

Just imagine the plethora of enemies and bosses. The story could take them through each character's world and environments. You could have Ryu as the physical attacker, Samus as the special attacker, Rosalina as the healer, and King K Rool as the tank fighting a Dr. Wily and Dr. Eggman tag team boss in Midgar. I guess that's sort of already the appeal of smash bros. but still!

When I was a kid (this would be after SSB64 and Paper Mario were released) I had a dream where I was playing a Paper Mario-esque game that seemed like a mix between Paper Mario and Super Paper Mario where Mario had access to different items from throughout Nintendo history (I just remember a pokeball being in his inventory in the dream) to interact with the environment and you could have Mario and other Nintendo protagonists (pretty much the SSB64 starting roster) in your party and each had different abilities in-battle and the overworld. So it was essentially Smash but as an JRPG adventure instead of a fighting game. I think if something like that were actually produced it'd be pretty cool.

I have played and finished each Mother game, all in English because I can't read Japanese (though Mother 3 is the only one where I needed a fan-translation ). I'm hoping for an SNES Classic this December so I can play SMRPG for the first time.

Mother / Earthbound is one of my favorite series.

Earthbound 2 was also a high-quality game, I especially liked The Great Starman and the lazy Ness.

I've played Earthbound and Mother 3, but not Beginnings. Absolutely incredible games. I don't actively support any mother characters right now, but it's one of my favorite series. The only ones that beat it for me are Custom Robo and Persona. Metroid is tied.

Absolutely love Mother 3 and Earthbound. Never played the first one. But to me, it's Nintendo's best RPG ever created.

I'm not really a big fan of this franchise but just solely on the characters and atmosphere I think Kid Icarus could make for an interesting JRPG.

Well obviously judging by my pfp and how I can't seem to shut up about said pfp, I certainly have. I played SMRPG for the first time around 2011 when I was in High School having recently bought the SNES cartridge from a sketchy game shop. Ironically, SSBB got me into BOTH the Mother games as well as SMRPG due to my curiosity surrounding Geno in that era.

Replace Porky with Ninten and that’s my actual prediction. Man I’m really hoping they show Geno first if he’s in... It’d put so many theories to rest and I can finally relax...

I've beaten Earthbound. I downloaded Earthbound Beginnings on the Wii U, though I haven't played much of it yet.

I also tried the fan translated version of Mother 3, though I couldn't get the rhythm mechanics down with a mouse and keyboard.

I enjoyed Earthbound, but I feel like the early game bits (where it's just Ness) are a bit of a slog, and the game really picks up once you get a second party member. I feel like Earthbound Beginnings will be the same way, except much worse due to the lack of a rolling HP meter.

I was trying to think of an old iconic game series that Boomers would like and Mortal Kombat popped in my head. Did Scorpion or Sub-Zero have any following back in the day? I didn't follow Smash speculation until Wii U so I wouldn't know.

I wonder if it's Tails over Shadow. I personally would love that, but the younger generation hasn't seen tails as a main hero like we did in Sonic 2 and 3. Well besides Sonic Mania.

Just Earthbound and it was because of Smash. I think I played it for the first time in 2004 or 2005 by borrowing a copy from a friend. I want to play the others eventually.
