I’m sorry, but no, **** that. We would be dammed if all the evidence for Geno like missing costume, Mii list, legit looking cacomallow, popularity, and etc goes meaningless all for another FF7 character. Yes, we could use more FF7 content and it’s an iconic game, but it’s time for Geno. A spirit board would do.

It should be noted before we get too excited, Roger is LEGENDARY for his crazy big bold all caps predictions. They don’t all necessarily actually work out, sometimes he likes to just jump to crazy conclusions. His repeated confidence in Geno does have an air of insider knowledge, but not everything he says is gospel.
I never take anything for granted. With that said, I do think he has a point with his video. It could even explain the lack of Chocobo costume. If Cacamallow is real, it doesn't nessecairly mean that Chocobo can't wait for another fighterif you know what I mean. And lets also remember that they waited with 3H spirits because of Byleth.....

Who says it can't be both?

Weirder **** has happened in Smash Brothers.
Nah, I can see a few Nintendo characters in the pass, but once that character from that third party company is in, it’s GG for everyone else. I’ll guarantee you they’re not gonna hold off Geno’s costume for the second time.

I disagree with your first point. Just because they are adding Arms, it does not mean that majority will be first party, or the rest will be it for that matter.

Sephiroth talk? I've been saying it for awhile but everything has been pointing to Geno's hypothetical pack being wholesale Square content as in specifically the Square side of Square Enix. Yes, Sephiroth has been heard as far back as 2018 but probably won't be a character and we've gone into this before. Looking at everything I know, I think there's a very distinct possibility that some packs are going to get multiple "premium" costumes. Like I've talked about before, there's currently about half a dozen indie franchises that are very likely to become Mii costumes and series representation is all over the place. Square celebrates Square, Capcom celebrates Capcom, etc. I think the quality and content of Season 2 is going to catch a lot of people off guard but in a very good way.

Ok, hold up. The 3H spirits don't even work as a counter here. If we were getting FF7 spirits, they would've 100% come at launch. This isn't a "let's hold off on FF7 spirits for Pass 2 at launch because we apparently planned Pass 2 November of 2018 as well." That doesn't even make any sense. They did not hold off on FF7 spirits for a potential rep in Pass 2 because there wasn't any guarantee of a second pass that far in advance.

- Forest Maze (Bowyer as a hazard that randomly disables Smashes, Shields, or Specials)
- Star Hill (random stars [or wishes, rather] come crashing down on people)
- A compilation of SMRPG overall, kinda similar to the DQ one where you're on a platform and flying around, mixed with Magicant that has the memories/clips in the background.

Man I really wish I could find my post on this exact thing. It's actually a bit difficult to pick 10 tracks because there's so many good ones.
- (x2) The two that were copyright taken down, obviously
- Fight Against Monsters (because it's an absolute classic and a total banger)
- Fight Against a Somewhat Stronger Monster (^)
- (x2) Fight Against Kajioh (Smithy); both phases (^^)
- Koopa Castle (second time) (first song you hear in the game after the intro; I think it's one of the not-as-known as the bigger songs, but still heard a lot. I also picked specifically the longer version you hear at the end of the game as opposed to the beginning because the first version is very short and will grate your nerves hearing it for awhile)
- Still, the Road is Full of Dangers (Bandit's Way was the first time this plays) (there should be one exploration song thrown in there)
- Hello, Happy Kingdom (probably remixed) (one of the few songs that actually exists outside of SMRPG [was in Fortune Street]; I could see it making its way to Smash as well, but it'd definitely need some remix work)
- The Starlight's Flower Shines on Star Hill (probably remixed) (Star Hill's pretty important to Geno, so...)
- If the stage is a compilation stage, I could see a medley of most of the soundtrack being used in one song.

How many do I have to pick? I barely go into the Spirit Boards. Gonna just do around 10 I guess.
- Smithy (first phase)
- Smithy (second phase)
- Smithy Gang (consists of Mack, Bowyer, Yaridovich, and Axem Rangers)
- Exor
- Croco
- Belome
- Booster (and his 3 Snifits?)
- Jinx?
- Gaz?
- Maybe SMRPG versions of Mario/Bowser/Peach? Honestly I'm kinda having trouble with these; 10's kinda hard D:

This is actually perfect because Classic Mode has 7 battles, so something like "The Road of Seven"; the road taking from the Star Road, and seven obviously being the seven star pieces.

- Mallow (assuming CacoMallow and Mii Costume Leaker are real)
- Smithy (assuming Mii Costume Leaker is real)
- Chocobo
- Some other Square ones (obvious bias, but I would kill to see Sephiroth and Sora end up here; that would be one of the greatest things to happen for me personally, but I know neither one would end up just being a lousy costume)
What about Alternate Colorations?!

Nintendo is pretty tone deaf with the fanbase, but it'd almost be out of character for Nintendo to just randomly hold off the Mii costume of a heavily requested character, say nothing about them, and then just bring them back as a Mii costume like a year later for no reason lol. I could see another FF rep happen but holding off Geno as a costume for so long with no explanation would be really underwhelming. For that to happen it'd be borderline a parody lmao

That's what I'm hoping for. Season 2 being even better than the first would be very much welcome

I dunno, Nintendo generally does not care about fan demand/expectation as much as we believe them to. I still think that Geno is the Square rep, but your point that it's out of character for Nintendo to hold off on mii costumes for a long time doesn't make any sense considering all the evidence against it. Besides Geno wasn't the only Mii costume missing either, Chocobo was also held back. Sure they didn't hold back Rex and Isaac, but they sure waited a long time to reveal them at the end of the pre-release cycle. It really isn't as outlandish as you are suggesting.

People often ask me why I've sided with my predictions and a lot of it has to do with rumors supporting representation of certain companies more so than just characters. For example, there was a lot of evidence supporting Nintendo getting a pack focusing on itself, specifically first party, and why I pulled the lever for Waluigi. As a recap, my predictions company wise have been since Mid January: Nintendo, Square, "Western", Namco, Capcom, and Microsoft. From there I filled things in with my personal predictions for each category: Waluigi, Geno, Crash, Lloyd, Dante, and Master Chief. Let me go into each one:

-Nintendo: this one is the most interesting. My theory about Nintendo not only starting with itself but also being first party was correct. This was backed up by a number of things like the Amiibo rerelease leak, the fact that 6 was such a boondoggle to figure out, how coincidentally the only rumored Nintendo Mii costumes were specifically tied to first party franchises, etc. Following Power of Six, Nintendo has the least rumored when it comes to Mii costumes which is very interesting because Square and Namco, for example, arguably have a full six. 6's content is being kept very heavy underwraps so I'm interested in what all they have planned.

On the topic of Nintendo, one idea that's been around since December but seems to be getting traction is that Season 2 is probably going to have multiple Nintendo characters but not necessarily multiple Nintendo packs. This is yet another reason why I went with Waluigi. In my opinion, if Nintendo was going to add one final first party character to Ultimate, it would be Waluigi. He also fit the descriptor for how people were describing Pack 6 before it was even announced. I talked about it a long time ago but for the longest time it was hotly debated if 6 was going to be a full pack or a standalone character. As time has gone on, I look back on this confusion and it's ba reason why I entertain the idea of bonus characters. I've always been of the mind that if he did get "bonuses", they would be first and second party and I still think this is a credible line of thought.

-Square: Again, all the rumored stuff is coincidentally specifically on the Square side of Square Enix. 5 Mii costumes that are very probable and the long floating question of Sephiroth paints a pretty complete picture.

-"Western": This one is interesting because, Western wise, Indies seem to have more backing than major Western companies themselves. Of rumored Western company Mii costumes, Activision/Blizzard has two that are questionable but then you could arguably count Western Indies on two hands. There's also the fact that Activision is comically bad at keeping secrets so them leaking that they're going to be in Smash is kind of their MO.

-Namco: 6 rumored Mii costumes from 6 different series. That's a hell of a coincidence. This is why I support the idea that the Namco rep is going to be like Terry and SNK and come with a ****ton of Namco content.

-Capcom: 3 heavily supported Mii costumes, 1 Mii costume that's questionable but probably going to happen, and a long history of accidentally leaking major announcements well in advance.

-Microsoft: At least 2 Mii costumes heavily associated with Microsoft and as many as three others that are rumored but questionable. There's a ton of evidence that Microsoft is very, very serious with improving its relationship with Nintendo basically to spite Sony and try to actually have a market in Asian countries. Based on recent history and several long-standing rumors, I'm pretty confident that Smash is part of this equation.

And for some strange reason, they're absolutely dominating the console market. Their marketing team must be a bunch of PhD's. lol
Almost like forcing exclusives makes your console look better. There's virtually no reason to own an XBone if you have a PC, or hell even a PS4 at this point.

It's why I go with Nintendo (most exclusives + nostalgia since I was a kid) + PC. I'm envious of some PS4 stuff, but I'm not a weeb* so I can pass on it.

*This is meant in jest, but a lot of "anime-esque" games tend to be PlayStation-only.

100% this, and it's not just because I have negative-bias against FF7. I'd be so pissed if this happened and Geno got screwed over yet again.

Who says it can't be both?
I highly doubt we'd get 2 of the same third-party company in an FP. Not saying it's impossible though; anything is possible I guess. Long as Geno comes first so I don't have to flip over seeing Sephiroth ruin Geno over.

I both love and hate these vague posts of yours. Love because you're not outright spoiling, but hate because UGH I JUST WANNA KNOW ALREADY! TELL ME YOUR SECRETS, FATMAN! DX

What about Alternate Colorations?!
Of Geno? Hell if I know. At least one will be Malo-colored though methinks, maybe another for Smithy, Croco, etc. Also probably his poisoned-coloration.

That's what I'm hoping for. Season 2 being even better than the first would be very much welcome
Seeing as it was 60% really well-received, 20% eh, 20% justified outrage, I'd be fine with S2 following suit or being even better. Maybe 66% really well-received and 33% eh?

Polarthief Polarthief It honestly just follows what I've been preaching forever in that Season 2 has a huge sense of finality to it not only because of the rumored degrees of fan service it's supposedly going to have but the scale of it. I don't think Season 2 is going to be like the Fighter's Pass. I think every pack is going to have some degree of a "wow" factor to it. For example, the hypothetical Namco pack basically being a total blow out of Namco content and not just Tales, Tekken, whatever. I think that's the intention and why I give credence to what I've heard. Geno wouldn't just be SMRPG stuff, he would probably come pretty heavy handed with Square content because it paints a picture of Nintendo trying to proactively squash sour grapes. They can't satisfy everyone but they're going to try pretty damn hard to at least tip their hats to as many fans as possible.

As much as I want to believe you since you are a good person I trust, the first pass really didn't do anything to impress me characterwise besides blowing my lid for Banjo (in a good way). So, while I personally think an ARMS character is a better start than Joker (this is my distaste for most JRPGs kicking in), I am still incredibly cautious that the second pass will not do much to impress me again.

I gotta admit, Xbone and PS really underestimate the power of exclusives. Hell, exclusives are pretty much 100% of Nintendo's claim to fame. They literally own at least three of the most lucrative franchises in the gaming industry (Mario, Pokemon and Zelda) which is partly why Smash Bros is such a monster. They took the most iconic and powerful gaming franchises in the world and threw them into one addictive multiplayer experience. I think Nintendo's other advantage is that they are pretty much the only gaming company left that takes couch co-op into consideration. The other two companies cater almost exclusively to single men between the ages of 16 and 40. In the case of Xbone, narrow that to SHOOTING GAME ENTHUSIASTS between the ages of 16 and 40. At the rate consoles are going, I don't think it'll be long before they simply fuse with the PC industry anyway. I mean look at the next generation: Both the PS5 and XSEX are basically just gaming towers with specialized controllers.

PS. LOL......"weeb".......and I just got FF7R..........love it, BTW.

If this is based on any sorta insider info he may have, then I'd be one to believe that's good news since he only talked about Sora as an example as to why he won't be in Smash (at least from the part I saw).
Either way, I wouldn't put any stock in this vid, unless it's something that they repeat over and over, then usually these sorts of folks are just speculating. I see almost no chance of another FF7 character getting into Smash. It wouldn't benefit Nintendo very much and it's a game that already has a rep. I see little rhyme or reason as to why a FF7 character would get in FP2.

Sephiroth's biggest hangup is that if he were a pack character then it would just be a repeat of Final Fantasy VII content. It would be redundant. I'm very hard pressed to believe that they would justify two Final Fantasy VII stages, especially in the light that they couldn't even do this for Megaman, Pac-Man, or Street Fighter. They couldn't even negotiate literal jpegs for the base game, I have a hard time seeing a full FFVII spirit board too. Going even further, the only time third party franchises have gotten multiple characters is when there's Echoes and there's no way in hell that Sephiroth would be a Cloud echo for a sprawling list of reasons. Even on a basic level, Sephiroth is canonically at least half a foot taller than Cloud so even their size doesn't line up.

Just a question but do the Mii Costume rumors include characters that were already Mii Costumes in Smash 4, or are these completely new

I find it possible. While I doubt the switch will get the FF7 remake, I wouldn't be surprised if their is some kind of mobile/pocket edition like FF15. They poured a lot of money into FF15 for whatever reason, and although FF7 pretty much sells itself its interesting that they aren't doing at least half of the marketing push they did for that game.
If this were to come into fruition, its difficult to place where that puts Geno. At the very least I see his costume coming back, but throwing him in with a bunch of FF7 content would be a little out of place. The chocobo hat would fit nicely though.
square already confirmed that FF7R will not be on the switch

If Geno comes first, I'd react with a: "HELL YEAH"/very loud screaming and "meh but idc, I got Geno". If it's the other way around, I'd get furious, but then be like "oh okay whatever" (after getting Geno) in reaction to Seph.

Polarthief Polarthief It honestly just follows what I've been preaching forever in that Season 2 has a huge sense of finality to it not only because of the rumored degrees of fan service it's supposedly going to have but the scale of it. Which I'm down for, provided Geno's the playable fighter. I've said it this whole time, Geno and 5 Urshifu, let's ****ing GO, I wouldn't care who else gets in (though that's now impossible, so I'll take ARMS + Geno + 4 Urshifu).

Obviously that's a pretty selfish way of looking at it, but I'd be down for some of my lesser picks too, I just really, really don't want to see other Square reps without Geno also getting in. I'd be pretty devastated given all the evidence, y'know?

Can you imagine if we get Sephiroth over Geno after all these small little coincidences that we've been viewing in our favor? I'd be par for the course but i'd still feel like killing myself lol
Seriously. AFAIK, Geno has more evidence than literally any other character (besides an ARMS rep, obviously) right now, unless there's another with a mountain of evidence like this.

I'm in the same boat as you Pat; Joker and Hero didn't do much for me personally either, but I'm not going to not acknowledge that they were pretty big picks. Hero probably got the same Eastern reaction as BK did Western. Joker was huge for a lot of people. Overall, they picked 3/5 really great picks for the pack, 1 very... eh pick; not bad, just didn't make waves like the first 3 did, and 1 that just upset nearly everyone and got Sakurai himself to admit he thinks there's too many FE/Sword-wielding characters. If they go with that same level of picks, I don't see Season 2 being all that bad.

I think Nintendo's other advantage is that they are pretty much the only gaming company left that takes couch coop into consideration. The other two companies cater almost exclusively to single men between the ages of 16 and 40.
Basically, yep. Plus they have a much longer nostalgia-train going, back since the EARLY 80s! PS1 was out in December of '94 and Xbox November of 2001; Sony has some nostalgia for sure, but not nearly as much as Nintendo, and Xbox is essentially "hope you like Halo".

I would love if Microsoft stopped making Xbox and just focused on PC instead. While there are 3 consoles, people do forget that the PC exists and can easily run games of all consoles, since it's the most versatile "console" ever. It can range from being as weak as a Gamecube (or even worse if you still have old as hell tech) to being stronger than what the PS7 will be.

PS. LOL......"weeb".......and I just got FF7R..........love it, BTW.
Like I said, in jest! I also do plan on taking a look at FF7R when/if it comes to PC. Despite being annoyed of its bandwagoning, the remake did catch my eye, but notr while it's exclusive to a console I have no plans on ever buying til it's a previous gen or two (and I can get a used one for little).

square already confirmed that FF7R will not be on the switch
I feel like this doesn't even require a confirmation from the company; Square's a total diva and wouldn't dare put their previous FF7 on a "peasant console" that obviously can't run it.

(also while I do love the Switch, I've already said my concerns with its hardware yesterday; I don't think it's a peasant console, but it does need a serious boost in the near future)

PS: This also does nothing to another FF7 character's chances.

Plus, they couldn't even ask for Cloud's original artwork for FF7 for the spirits, they had to use the Ultimate renders only. It's why I find it very hard to believe Sephiroth would be our Square rep. Geno would have significantly fewer legal hang ups

I don’t know if you actually read my post but that’s pretty much what I said.
I doubt the Ff7 remake could run on the switch’s hardware without making some drastic changes.

However , I could see the Final fantasy remake or some spin off of 7 come to the switch like ff15 did as a completely different game.

First and foremost, I highly disagree with you that he would just be a Cloud echo... It's just the same mentality as Banjo would be a Duck Hunt echo. The only "issue" that would come for him moveset wize would be his sword, and even that shouldn¨t really be an issue..

Also, about your argument of them not being able to argue for literal JPGs... Smash Ultimate is the first game that has any Square related stuff in the base game. Normally, when Square Enix is getting included, its through DLC. Just look at how they treated Dragon Quest in comparison.

It could just be that they asked for a bare minimum for Cloud so they could truly have "everyone is back"... Granted, we got only 2 tracks in Smash4 DLC but so did Ryu and I do believe Bayonetta too.

Think you got a little confused there, he’s saying the only 3rd party franchises with 2 reps have echoes, and there’s no way for Sephiroth to be an echo of Cloud.

Just a reminder that while the main company is called "Square Enix", Square and Enix are still different companies that handle things differently, in the same way Activision and Blizzard most definitely handle things differently (as someone who still plays WoW for some ungodly reason), despite the company name now being "ActivisionBlizzard". They're sister companies to each other, but not wholly just one singular company. Saying to look at how they handle DQ will be the same at how they handle FF isn't accurate in the slightest. Hell, we didn't even get any Square content in that DQ (Enix) DLC pack.

No worries, I knew you were just jesting. As for FF7R, it's a lot better than the online trolls made it out to be. I know it's the "edgy" thing these days to **** on anything with bandwagoners, but honestly I'm loving it so far. The battle system is great, character development is top notch and of course the graphics are amazing. Zero load screens and one of the few games I've seen where there is literally no difference in quality between the cinematics and the actual gameplay. I can understand if it's not too hype inducing for others though.

TBH it's the FF7 hype that's annoying to me, not the FF7R hype. It's a bit different when it's a brand new game vs being 23 years old.
(and moreso when the company who owns the game continues to perpetuate that hype OVER TWENTY-THREE !@#$ING YEARS LATER)

Some 3rd party franchises just happened to have the option for an Echo for a major character choice. FFVII doesn't really have an option beyond Zack, and there's no way he's more important than Sephiroth. Coupled with him being a leakbait character, it's fairly clear who is the more obvious secondary character for FF in general for another FFVII specific one.

Like, I think he could become a costume too if another SE character gets in. I don't agree it's "costume or nothing" in quite literally any case. Cause it's a normal representation for those who couldn't become playable. That's kind of it. I'd sooner think Sora would be less likely as a costume cause it's an entirely new IP being licensed. Licensing more Square-Enix content is just not the same situation.

But yeah, the idea 3rd party franchises can never get another character unless it's an echo is purely based upon a pattern. We don't know that and there's been, what, two echoes? It's understandable to doubt that, but why would they ignore the second most iconic character for the sake of an Echo? If you were talking base game, maybe, but DLC? No. For that matter, we have no real reason to believe Echoes will be in the pass. Maybe a semi-clonish character like Dixie at best. They require a ton of time. We also are led to believe these six are it, so bonus characters(that includes Echoes) are not likely at all.

Sephiroth would be playable or a costume, but that'd be a costume with another SE character(or one that comes with SE content, like Sora. Since he does have ties to SE stuff. FF spirits, for instance. Sephiroth is even in KH, as is Cloud, after all) at best. SE has a bit of stinginess with "keep 'em together". I mean, it could change too. We could see the Chocobo costume come with another character entirely. But we have little reason to believe that over it comes with a SE-related character.

I actually wouldn’t mind if Sephiroth ended up on the pass. I feel like additional villains are always welcomed, it would make the game feel more complete to get a bit more ff7 content in there.

Also in regards to his play style, it sounds like there was rumblings of using Alucard instead of the Belmonts. I wouldn’t be too surprised if he were used as a base, and ended up getting any animations or ideas that were initially meant for that character.

Fair... that doesn¨t change the fact though that Square Enix is usually less "stingy" when it comes to DLC vs base game. I mean, they are allowing Laura Croft to be DLC for both Rainbow Six Seige and Brawlhalla. They have Noctis in Tekken, 2B in Soul Calibur (and that is a legal matter between Platinum and Square) I might have missed something but you get my point. Add this with Nintendo being extremely good terms with Square right now...

Edit - FF 7-10 on the Switch, and FF15 (although more of a "spinoff version) as well. while also bombarding the console with RPGs (Bravely Default 2 and Trials of Mana coming up, where the former is Switch exclusive) Yes, I am biased. But I think with how their relationship has blossomed since Cloud got in and those DLC examples, I don¨t think its that impossible to get Geno and Sepiroth in some form.

Think you got a little confused there, he’s saying the only 3rd party franchises with 2 reps have echoes, and there’s no way for Sephiroth to be an echo of Cloud.
Gotcha... with that said, I think the "legal matter" is more of a legit counter-argument then "lack of echoes". Just look at Kirby and Animal Crossing.. Hell, neither Pokemon or Zelda has officially an echo.

I actually wouldn’t mind if Sephiroth ended up on the pass. I feel like additional villains are always welcomed, it would make the game feel more complete to get a bit more ff7 content in there.
Agreed. If there is something that this game lack, then it sure is villains (which is why I would prefer Heihachi over Loyd tbh)

Also.... We could have gotten Alucard instead of Bellmont's? Cries in a corner.
