Just so that everyone is aware, Game (the company that game.co.uk belongs to) is a video game retailer very similar to GameStop. I wouldn't consider them "in the know" or think of this as anything more than incompetence in reporting. Hell, maybe the webmaster over there has a direct on his mind, too, and just made a mistake.

The way people act about this slip up is as if Nintendo or LEGO Group made the mistake themselves.

While this makes sense, still, how could they have mistaken a 7 second long video for a Direct, overall? Directs are longer than that.

If the coronavirus were the cause of the delays, they would've announced it by now like the various event cancellations. I'm getting tired of people saying that's the cause when that has never been mentioned once by Nintendo.

I mean... it’s a cyber event. There is no public awareness/public safety to consider. So I don’t think it’s quite the same as the cancellation of all the other events in Japan.

sidenote that is very much not on topic: did everyone see that Coachella has been pushed to October due to coronavirus?! The horror! Think of the trustfund kids!

Being the resident social pariah at times, I'm not a fan of angry mobs but I do get why people are getting impatient for the Direct. Just a quick recap of things to better explain why people are, er, a bit agitated:

-Pokemon RPG Remaster (not Diamond and Pearl but, hell, arguably better)

-Fire Emblem 6/7 Remaster
-Paper Mario: the Quest to Not Suck
-2D Metroid
-Ports of Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D Squirrel
-RARE Replay and Master Chief Collection

Rumors supported by multiple people on my end:

-Major SNES Online game dump
-Multiple revivals of dead franchises

Markomaro exclusives:

-New Donkey Kong platformer
-New Savy Stylist
-Wario Land Virtual Boy Remaster

Rumors from only one person on my end:

-3D Mario at E3
-Nintendo making an honest attempt to make Breath of the Wild 2 2020
-Miitopia/Tomodachi Life Remaster/Sequel

Well the events were actually announced and it was confirmed the companies were showing up to them. On the other hand a direct hasn’t been announced.

It's what I've been saying to other people offsite who think I'm just in it for Smash news. I've been really curious to try out Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition since I missed out on it and loved 2. As of today, it's been 188 days since the last general direct, so it's really headscratching for Nintendo to essentially push back a prerecorded presentation this far back with seemingly no real explanation

On the upside of things, when Nintendo teases "soon" for things, they almost always mean it so a Direct this week isn't totally dead in the water just yet. LEGO and Nintendo officially teaming up for the first time is a pretty big deal too and that's not exactly an announcement that you want to sit on so long that it hard-boils.

A general direct can happen soon, just that we are currently (no offense) kind of in a state of Bloodlust. Looking forward to the next direct to sate our dry taste for upcoming news on games in 2020.

As mentioned before, there were 4 cases of general directs announced the day before they aired. The originally intended September 6th Direct of 2018 before it was delayed by the earthquake that hit Japan, March 8th of 2018, February 13th of last year, and the September 4th directs were all announced one day prior. We've to wait and see what tomorrow brings.

I am honestly not expecting geno as the first, mostly because i feel he is more a later big hype one. I expect he is coming just not shown yet.

I really feel shantae is next or the 3rd or 4th one. Crash feels like e3. If rex and pyra are happening then i feel they could be the first.

Prime 4's development has apparently been a total cluster**** and Bayo 3 is Platinum's issue. I don't think Nintendo would tease "soon" for their biggest IP and then not deliver for more than a few weeks tops. Also, LEGO is the most valuable toy brand in the world by a considerable margin and the company is worth about 15 billion so this collab is definitely a bigger deal than a lot of people are giving it credit for.

This too. Kind of tired of the Blue Check Mark Game Gurus telling people to curb their enthusiasm. We're in the middle of the first major pandemic of the 21st century and very likely the beginning of a global recession... Maybe we're just honestly starved for good news of literally any kind at the moment? Sorry if that pops your monocle out of place but the truth of the matter is that a lot of people genuinely look forward to Directs because a lot of things suck in their lives and, yes, a "glorified commercial" brings a little sunshine to a good number of people. Honestly, I'm okay in my own life but if I see one more condescending Tweet or video from a person who gets paid for their video game opinions, I'm going to flip my **** like I'm the head cook at an IHOP. You all are allowed to be frustrated and it's honestly nobody else's business as to why but your own.
