Not anything definite, just Nintendo scheduling their next major round of online maintenance on March 9th, making people cross their fingers for a Direct that week. It's kind of grasping at straws but it's something to talk about.
That, and on that week, it'll be over 6 months since the last general direct. At this point, the second week of March is probably our most likely bet.
Do you think the six months will be Nintendo's new world record in terms of not releasing a Direct? AKA making some impatient people wait?
Have a Direct on that day? Isn't that a Tuesday, when Directs are announced usually rather than shown?
He was never cut from Brawl, nor even planned, only considered
Oh, come on! Don't be pessimistic. If Maintenance events usually mean a Direct is soon, key word, usually; as Fatman said, then there is a chance something may happen in terms of a Direct.
We've had directs or big updates often associated around the timing of maintenance periods, especially Smash DLC launches so I wouldn't call it entirely unrelated either.
In general I consider Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday to be the direct days. I feel like there have been a few on Tuesday but I just can't be assed to go prove it.
You don't have to. I don't completely believe it, maybe a little, but I guess I will let it slip. Still don't know of a Direct being on Mario day, though.

Hey there, sometimes, you don't need causation to know if things work out. Correlation may not be the same thing, and more chanced based, but I believe it may work, still.

I was just thinking about the possibility of a Mario direct actually. We’ve gotten directs for specific series and games before so it’s possible. They could announce dlc for Mario Maker 2 and Luigis Mansion 3, a port of Super Mario 3D World, the rumored Paper Mario game, and end it with Geno announced for Smash.
**** it, why not all of the announcements?

So us speculating about Smash things on SMASHBOARDS is tantamount to us being entitled? How the **** did you come to that conclusion? Where's the correlation here? How is people speculating on an image anywhere close to similar to demanding something?

And I'm sorry that there are stupid people in this fandom saying and doing stupid things. I keep trying to keep them out, putting out the traps and whatnot, but somehow they just keep getting back in.

First off, if you're not talking about us, why would you post this long diatribe in our thread then? Did you do it for the sake of the one guy out of the 20 or so regulars who fits your broad criteria? Second, it's kind of hard to ignore said diatribe when you don't at least put it behind a spoiler, especially due to it's sheer volume. Nobody wants to scroll past several screens worth of text walls.
This post is the literary equivalent of dropping a nuke on a populated town to get rid of criminals. If other people get radiation sickness from it, or other people feel what you did was overkill and entirely unwarrented, do they not have the right to complain about it or hold you accountable?
Firstly, speculation isn't silly. If that's really what you think then maybe you shouldn't be here anymore. And second, this long-winded rant was completely unnecessary for a variety of reasons, with chief among them being that most if not all of the people here both don't apply and don't really care to hear it, especially considering how broad you are with your criticisms.

Yeah, sure. But by will be, I wasn't counting if they broke the record by now, as in, saving the moment until the next Direct comes.

Agreed, it's a video game, so I'm not gonna bother arguing that my thoughts weren't wacky and farfetched (cuz they're based on my experience, not made up and clearly conflict with your own takes) and that we're not mindless apes cuz I win nothing by doing so.
Yes actually I'd be very interested in this. I like the thought and it would be so cool to do something like this as a fanbase.
