You and the meme squad (like good ol' OffBi) definitely do. Especially during these dry seasons of information. I think that's the 70th tumbleweed that's passed us by...

I also love how there is a psuedo-ongoing meme in this thread to always put a Geno hat on a meme to have it not be off topic. Makes me chuckle, unlike Knuckles.
Even if some members of the meme gang are not being so active as of lately, they're still able to do some great works when they can. so it will be nice seeing what some of them have in mind

(Also, Griselda, I think it is cool how we can talk about this calmly on the internet. I mean idk how old you are, but I'm an 18 year old zoomer talking about this! This subject is such a hot-button issue, yet I'm glad we can talk about it calmly! Just kinda cool and appreciated, even more so that you're a few years older than me most likely!)
I'm older than you, yeah, but that doesn't mean I'd disregard your input to the conversation or anything because of it. I do tend to think of myself as calm and collected, most of the time. I mean, there are things that I won't be polite about, obviously, but if I was constantly shrieking and snarling about all of my points, it'd probably undermine them more than anything else.

..Since there's always the chance we could be seeing Geno in Smash much sooner than later, it's a bit of an odd feeling, being here. Like, I feel like I might've just slipped in at the tail end of a war, just in time to see a victory I didn't really have any hand in.

My gut feeling, based on what he's shared, is telling me that of these 7 remakes we might be getting at least one third party franchise that Nintendo's going to help bring back from the abyss.
I'm thinking they are going to help revive Banjo-Kazooie. I think we are finally going to get the long awaited Banjo-Threeie.

Same. Although, I honestly don’t think if either a Banjo remake or new game would be released for the new Xbox. People who have the Xbox don’t care about Banjo at all. The appetite for Banjo is on the Switch. If Microsoft were smart, they would release it just on the Switch.

There's also Jack Bros, who was also the first MegaTen game to get localised.
Right. Nintendo could release any one of them. The problem with VB games is they are way too short. Wario Land takes like 3 hours to beat or something. If they were to remaster the game, they would have to suffice enough content to make it worth the $60. The only problem with Link’s Awakening. Great and fun game, ridiculous price tag for a Game Boy remaster because there wasn’t enough new content.

Edit: One way to make Wario Land worth the $60 is include ALL of the Wario Land games in HD, add a few things to spice them up and there you go. That’s a game I would pay for.

Wow, thanks man. I also own an Xbox. In fact, Banjo's one of the reasons I have one.

Same. But, the appetite for Banjo is not on the Xbox. Would there be the same reaction for Banjo on Switch than on the Xbox? Maybe but even still today people don’t remember Banjo as a Microsoft IP but as a Nintendo IP. That’s what people remember him as.

Edit: If there was an appetite for Banjo on the Xbox, don’t you think there would’ve been a new game already?

Technically yes. Supposedly two characters recently went into testing (as in the last two weeks), implying that both would likely be out by E3 or one dropped at the event. They said they only knew the identity of one but wanted to keep it to themselves for the sake of the surprise. Their estimate was that this particular character would be out by February or March but that was only an educated guess.
I'm reposting this yet again because, ladies, gentlemen, and our non-binary friends, I potentially got a major bombshell this morning. So, I woke up late this morning. Slept through my alarm, one of my cats, Artemis, is hardcore nuzzling my face, and I have like 15 minutes to get ready for work. ****... Don't have time for breakfast or a shower... Double ****... Quickly check my Discord messages. Lo and behold, one of my contacts sent me a message while I was asleep. "Hey man, I saw your Smashboards post about those characters being tested and it's technically wrong." Triple ****... The day is already going swimmingly.

Get to work and read the full message. The gist is that one of my contacts said I misinterpreted what one of my other contacts had told me. Thankfully, they went into full detail. They said, yes, multiple characters were currently in "testing" but not in the traditional sense. They then began to explain that Smash characters are typically "ready" about two months before they are released. This means that the major testing is completed and the game won't burst into flames if you try to use them. They then explained that the last two months are testing but it's more in the sense of "polish" than hardcore debugging. Basically the tech equivalent of running a lint roller over their clothes, shining their shoes, and ironing their shirt. If we look at the Smash timeline, this makes total sense and, once again, ForsakenM's stellar timeline theory is supported.

-Plant was infamously shown in the November Direct in 2018 but wasn't ready until February 2019.

-Joker was technically "ready" in February but had the two months of polish before their April release.

-Hero was announced in early June, released practically in August.

-Banjo and Hero's presentations were done around the same time, suggesting that Banjo was still being "polished" when Hero was released.

-Terry was shown in a physical form in September and was released in November.

What does this tell us? It means that 5 was likely "done" in November but needed the standard two months of polish before release, suggesting a January or very early February release. Now, let's circle back...

As my post from yesterday shows, one of my contacts shared with me that two characters recently began "testing." This is technically incorrect according to yet another contact. Like I've mapped out, the true testing/debugging likely has already happened... Meaning both of these characters are in the "polish" stage! Not only does this suggest that 5 and 6 are ready to present... But so is 7! Now, does this mean we'll be getting at least a triple reveal? Potentially but we'll see how things play out. Like I said yesterday, one of my contacts said they knew the identity of 6 and that they'd probably be out February/March, going back to my New Year's Eve theory that 7 could be released as early as April. Again, I wanted to be totally transparent about this but keep in mind that these guys could be potentially wrong so try not to go too nuts.

Do your contacts interact with each other and cross check enough to make the conclusions re correcting the misunderstanding of 'in testing' characters?
If so, is there anything which you can publicly state that could represent a conflict of information between said contacts (for example, one contact knows x is happening in the next direct while y has information that says no news on x until E3 and instead y is coming to the next direct)?

Juicy. I'm getting highly suspicious about how much they have been dragging their feet when it comes to announcing the next fighter. I really do think that it will be a controversial character like Dovahkiin or someone not popular in the west like Arle. I posted my theory in the Arle thread that Arle might be FP5, and due to Hero and Terry's lukewarm reactions, they will want to announce a fan favorite character alongside FP5 to negate any potential dissapointment.

I think I might as well just mention this, but I thought that it was a bit odd that they’re doing the amiibo tourney thing this week instead of next week, which is when the final amiibo (Richter and Dark Samus) come out, until I realized that they also don’t do tournaments or spirit events on weeks that new characters come out (at least, I think.) It might mean nothing, but this could be evidence towards a character coming out next week. So maybe we won’t have to wait too long for a potential direct.

Most of my contacts do not really know each other. I don't even share the names of my contacts with my contacts unless they already coincidentally know each other. Of my four contacts, three knows maybe one of my other contacts and one knows two. As recent 4chan leaks have shown, this is for the sake of safety. Literally one confidant knows ONE of my sources directly. When talking with my confidants, I refer to my sources in very vague terms. For example, "Mii costume guy" who works overseas. I don't let the names of my sources get out so they can only "cross check" each other from afar. There is hardly any interaction between these guys. It's not like we go to Denny's and shoot the **** over coffee once a week. Ironically, I don't think any of my current contacts are even American but I don't bother pressing on that either way. It's irrelevant and keeps them safer either way.

Forgot which ex Rare employee said it on Twitter, but awhile back they said something about the list of games they worked on the past and Banjo-Threeie was one of the games listed. Rare quickly jumped on Twitter and yelled at this guy's name very seriously and than he either deleted the post or edited it taking out Banjo-Threeie out of the list.

Genuinly surprised no insiders have confirmed a geno mii costume yet. Either nintendo has a really good grasp of keeping secrets, or we may still have a fighting chance. Really hope this long fight we've had to get our boy in finally gets a happy ending. Can you imagine if this direct just reveals him as a fighter and our journey just ends right there? What would we even do. I'd have every character I'd want in, I really wouldn't have any requests after him.

Well, apparently, insiders don't know the first or second thing about what Mii costumes are gonna get added because figuring that information out doesn't net you anywhere near as much clout as finding out the fighter, which is why Mii costume leaker is such an anomaly and probably one of the bigger reasons Mallowdemon is such an easy leak to just write off as an elaborate hoax.

There's characters after Geno that I think would be neat additions, but I'm not about to actively campaign or be a part of the kind of endless speculation for them that I have for Geno and some other big wants in the past. I'm very ready for this journey to be over.

I wonder what this would mean for a reveal timeline. Assuming 6 and 7 were recently polished aka ready to be shown, we can assume they recently filmed the presentation for these characters as well. And we know that these presentations are made at least a month in advance of the actual video drop right?

I wonder if 5 will be shown in the assumed upcoming General Direct with a Smash Direct to kick off additional DLC in February?

Edit: Also, if WAH is 6 and he doesn’t get a full CGI trailer, then maybe his video was created and finished with much less edit time. So he seems to be a true wildcard

I'll be completely honest: There are a ton of characters I would love to see in Smash, but I'm like a lot of y'all in where I'm not playing the speculation game forever. My main focus is Goemon, Krystal, Dixie Kong, Porky Minch, and Pig Ganon so I will never ask Sakurai for anything ever again if they all got added. I think I'm calling it quits after Smash 6 or Smash 7 and once Goemon get's in if that day ever comes, adios amigos because my main goal here in the first place is to help get my boi Goemon in Smash. Once that happens, my purpose in the Smash community is over entirely.

C'mon Fatman, we need to know if the Wah is in! (And Geno, of course.)

If I have it right, Fatman is guessing at Dragonborn, Waluigi, and Geno right now (in that order). If true, it is amazing Nintendo has managed to prevent anything major from leaking so far.

Again, SPECULATION, but if it's believed that the next 3 fighters are Dragonborn, Waluigi, and Geno, god dam. That is one heck of a lineup.

At the very least, it very heavily implies that the next Direct will have more than one character. I decided to look at my contact's statement about DLC character needing two months worth of polish and this checks out for Smash 4 too!

-Lucas was revealed in April, released in June.

-Roy and Ryu were in the April 2015 datamine, released with Lucas in June.

-Cloud was announced in November 2015, released about a month later.

-Corrin and Bayo were announced in December 2015, released in February 2016.

I'm kind of shocked to see how consistent of a pattern this is! A character is released and then at least one starts to get polished: rinse and repeat. Again, if these two contacts are correct, there are theoretically 3 characters that are ready to be shown with 2 being released at a later time and 5 probably being shadowdropped like Banjo.

Just because you don't look for reaction videos, or videos responding to the character's inclusion, it doesn't mean that they aren't there. I don't watch much in the way of reaction videos (I made a post asking about that recently; I need to branch out beyond the few Youtubers that I follow), but off the top of my head, both Relax Alax and Alpharad were extremely excited to see Joker included in Smash.

Also, just because you haven't played a game, it doesn't make it so it's not deserving enough to be included in Smash. Persona 5 didn't just win "a" game award; it was generally considered one of the best RPGs, if not games, of the previous console generation.

Try to branch out; if you're not familiar with a character when they're added into Smash, give the game a shot. Also, Joker's the third Sega character, seeing as Bayonetta's owned by Sega.
I will respond to you but it is a response to the others as well. We will agree to disagree. I think Persona is a niche video game that only appeals to a small amount of Western fans. It was also not a Nintendo system.

Typically Western fans prefer First-Party Shooters, Live-Action adventures, 4x Strategy, or Party/Role-Playing Games (i.e. Mario Kart, Minecraft, etc.) We haven't seen a HUGE Western Character yet on the level of Nathan Drake, Master Chief, Doom Guy, Crash Bandicoot, etc. This is why the Fighter Pass is weak. Even if FP5 fits this description, it still hurts the Japanese fans who should also end the FP on a high note for them. The big Western FP should have already happened.

There is also the fact that so far 50% of the Fighter Pass has been Japanese RPG characters. Joker would have been a good character for Fighter Pass #2 or #3 but not the first one out the gate.

Also regarding notoriety, most people I know instantly thought Joker was from Batman or the Batman Villain. I thought the same thing as well when I heard the announcement. I think most of you are overestimating how well known and loved he is in the general public.

I'm hoping those Demon X Machina spirits will be available on the spirit board or the shop. Those are the only 4 I'm missing and I'm too lazy to download and play the demo.
They are still available for you even if you missed the Spirit Board event, just really rare.

Again, SPECULATION, but if it's believed that the next 3 fighters are Dragonborn, Waluigi, and Geno, god dam. That is one heck of a lineup.
Geno and Waluigi alone would be good enough for me to call it quits for this game. I already got 3 out of my 4 most wanted in this game :ultkrool:, :ultridley:, and :ultbanjokazooie:. I technically kind of got all 4 since Goemon got a Mii costume. But anyways, I would be satisfied.

I'm about to make it much worse. I've decided to come clean about something I've been holding onto since September but the timing feels right. It's time to reveal what people thought the starling meant all those months ago:

To be fair, a lot of us were speculating a second season pass back then. But the whole fan favorite picks still hasn't quite been proven yet. If what you said is true and there are two reveals then we may know Geno's fate the the moment the direct drops whether it be a true fan pick or a literal who 3rd party pick.
